  1. The question is...where were you? Pretty bad when a Yank beat ya to it... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=43342 FC
  2. Updating to SF2 standards and enhancements. FC
  3. Actually, look at the data.ini. I believe the country it belongs to is the USMC. That may be the issue why you're not getting the RAF skin as a default. FC
  4. Are you sure you don't have DOF activated...because that's exactly what that looks like... FC
  5. No worries...enjoy! FC
  6. Yes, but why would you want to. Everyone's going to have their own opinion, and may even pick something not on your list. FC
  7. Condolences to his family. How I feel about his decision making is another matter. FC
  8. Hey Timmy, A good option is to export the aircraft twice...once with decals and once without. Use the decaled one at a shorter range to fix the bleed, then the non-decal exported one for longer range to help save frame rates. Some aircraft you just can't do anything about, even if you fix all the spaces and meshes. It sometimes has to do with the overall shape of the aircraft. The Super Hornet was a prime example...I literally sealed up all the edges, but it still bled (in fact, it bled worse) on the body because of all the nooks and crannies. The T-38A and it's brethren have a similiar issue due to the wasp waist. FC
  9. Yea, anyone you pick for your flight must be able to do the same type of mission you do. So, yea, if you do recon, you can pick a T-38 as your wingman...however, any other mission... FC
  10. Couple of things: 1. First, are mods activated (check your options.ini file). 2. Second, did you put the aircraft in the mod folder, under Objects/Aircraft 3. Third, I believe the only mission the T-38 can do is recon...any other mission and it won't show up. FC
  11. http://www.eechcentral.com/files/Manuals/EECH.pdf - PDF Manual http://www.eechcentral.com/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page - EECH Wiki http://www.razorworks.com/enemyengaged/chguide/index.html - EECH Strat Guide http://www.razorworks.com/enemyengaged/ahguide/index.html - EEAH Strat Guide FC
  12. F-5F is being updated to SF2 standards...will include enhancements first implemented in T-38A. FC
  13. You should map before animation. Simple...keep all the parts as one mesh (ie instead of mapping the ailerons, flaps and wing separately, map them all at once, then separate and animate). This prevents line mismatches on textures. FC
  14. AGOSTINO, Try it out and tell us. If you can't find a SHD file for those aircraft, find one that looks close and use it. FC
  15. Well, there is a CAT extractor here at CA that works with the SF2 series, and you will need it at some point. However, for simply adding weapons made for SF2, the answer is that you do NOT need a CAT extractor. Weapons and Guns are now treated like aircraft, and each has it's own individual folder, data.ini file, etc. It's simple drag and drop now...no more messin with the Weapons Editor except for if you are trying to bring a lot of old weapons over at once. As far as the canned single missions...couldn't tell ya. FC
  16. Giddy up!! Finally a use for a pre-Oct 08 Gen 1 install! FC
  17. Oooooh...interesting. Do shadows work that way? FC
  18. I just WISH it would rain here...not a cloud in the sky unfortnately. Anyway, actually going to take it easy today. FC
  19. If you have the budget. FC
  20. I believe that particular author has long since left the modding scene. For those who might be new to the ThirdWire series, modding for it has been around for over 5 years, with many changes to the code since then. A lot of the older models will have problems in the most recent series. Most issues can be worked around...some will never be fixed. For this one, like snapper said, probably the best thing to do is remove the [shadow] entry. FC
  21. The Airshowsmoke effect is designed to use the stock TW smoke effect, which is a grey/whitish. If you're using an effects pack, that TGA may be black now. Recommend just going into the AirshowSmoke ini and near the bottom, it specifies which smoke TGA to use. Simply change that, and it should change the color of the smoke. Couldn't tell you why decals aren't appearing, others have gotten it to work in Gen 1 sims. FC
  22. Here's my guess, not having tried doing this yet. The Gen 2 engine may be thinking the old cockpit LOD file is the new cockpit LOD file because there is one in the new Gen 2 sims already (ie F-100 COCKPIT.LOD may actually exist already). Anyway, the sim engine then assumes the old LOD is the new one, tries to read the bitmap information, can't, and you get what you see. Try renaming the old cockpit LOD and see what happens. FC
  23. The Dog Sabres need some work. It's going to take a day. Folks, I would ask that although we want to try to keep these as close to the original 'out of the box' as possible, that doesn't mean fixes can't be implemented or at least completed (such as AB effects for the EF2000, etc). Also, I know KB won't mind if you include weapons from his SF2 weapons pack, with any fixes they need (such as shadow entries). I've been testing these with bone stock installs, to make sure everything works and is available (all effects, weapons, guns, etc). Obviously, we don't want to go crazy with customization, just fixes to make sure of the quality. FC

Readme for the ThunderBird T-38A for Gen 1 ThirdWire Sims. ********************************* Version 1.0 Original Release ******************************** Version 1.0 Thanks to the following folks: TK - For the ThirdWire series of sims. PappyChkSix - For the original skins, which unfortunately were lost when the model was remapped. The Mirage Factory - For allowing me to use the cockpit, effects, damage textures and sounds from the F-5A. FM based off of Mirage Factory F-5A. 331KillerBee - For the skins and hanger/loadout/loading screens. And the tweaks to make the seperate ThunderBird version. Lexx_Luthor - For the Airshow Smoke effect for the Thunderbird T-38A (borrowed from his missile exhaust effects). USAFMTL - For beta testing and advice. To my fellow Combatace moderators - For helping me beta test and work out bugs. Any errors or mistakes are entirely mine. What you will need first: Strike Fighters Project 1/Strike Fighters Gold/Wings Over Vietnam/Europe/Israel. This is not for Generation 2 versions of ThirdWire sims. What is in this archive: 1. This readme (duh!) 2. Effects, Objects, Sounds folder. Instructions: 1. Read and understand this entire readme FIRST! 2. Copy the Effects, Objects and Sounds folders to your SFP1/SFG/WOx directory. Allow directory merging and overwrites (anything overwritten either belongs to me or is the exact same as the Mirage Factory F-5 effects and sounds). 3. That's it! You should see the aircraft in your selection screen. Aircraft Information: From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-38_Talon The Northrop T-38 Talon is an American supersonic jet trainer. It was the world's first supersonic trainer and to date, is also the most produced. It remains in service as of 2009 in air forces throughout the world including the United States Air Force (USAF), which remains its largest user. In the 1950s Northrop began studying lightweight and more affordable fighter designs. The company began with its single-engine N-102 "Fang" concept. The N-102 was facing weight and cost growth, so the project was canceled and the the company N-156 project was began. Although the United States Air Force had no need for a small fighter at the time, it became interested in the trainer (N-156T) as a replacement for the T-33 Shooting Star it was then using in this role. The first of three prototypes (designated YT-38) flew on 10 March 1959. The type was quickly adopted and the first production examples were delivered in 1961, officially entering service on 17 March that year, complementing the T-37 primary jet trainer. When production ended in 1972, 1,187 T-38s had been built. Since its introduction, it is estimated that some 50,000 military pilots have trained on this aircraft. The USAF remains one of the few armed flying forces using dedicated supersonic final trainers, as most, such as the US Navy, use high subsonic trainers. The T-38 is of conventional configuration, with a small, low, long-chord wing, a single vertical stabilizer, and tricycle undercarriage. The aircraft seats a student pilot and instructor in tandem, and has intakes for its two turbojet engines at the wing roots. Its nimble performance has earned it the nickname "White Rocket". In 1962, T-38s set four time to climb records. In addition to USAF pilots, T-38s are also used by NASA astronauts, the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (other T-38s were previously used as USN aggressor aircraft), other NATO pilots under a joint training program, and some under civilian ownership. Notes and Limitations: External nozzles don't work...not sure why. Investigation continues. ThunderBird Version skins included...resized to 1024x1024 for faster multiplayer. Afterburner nodes and travel pod commented out in data.ini for ease of installation. This uses the 'Open Cockpit' method to place the cockpit model 'inside' the external model. This also allows the ability to add flight controls to the cockpit, which originally didn't have them modeled. Downsides are the that during inclement weather, it will appear 'foggy' inside the cockpit. Capable of being flown from either seat through editing of the T-38Atb.ini file. Simply uncomment the lines that have the seat you want to fly in, and comment out the lines with the seats you don't want to fly in. The default is the front seat. In the ThunderBird version, if you fly in the front seat, there will not be a rear seater (as in airshows, the aircraft was typically flown that way). The FM is reasonably 'close' to the real thing...but defaults to being 'fun' vs being 'perfect numbers'. As a pilot with 3000+ hours in the aircraft, it gives a reasonable impression on how the aircraft actually flies...but don't expect to hit all the 'numbers' perfectly.
