  10. Mustaches actually are fine in the USAF...just the size that matters....so to speak. The biggest issue with any facial hair is getting a proper seal on the oxygen mask, especially with the newer style where there is an inner 'lip' inside the mask. Unfortunately, any mustaches I've grown...look like crap. I look much better with a goatee...but can't have that in either job for the same reason as above... Anyway, congrats to our exchange bretheren...glad he's around! FastCargo
  11. Also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't work yet anyway. I'd love something like that for my Hellfires and ALARMs. FastCargo
  12. Also, Florian has some helpful files that detail what most functions do in the cockpit.ini file. Best thing to do is look through other cockpit.ini files to start getting an idea on how things work. What I've found so far is that cockpits are not conceptually that hard to build. But it's very tedious work because there are so many fiddly bits, especially in older cockpits with lots of needles. FastCargo
  13. Relax, they're probably just going through maintenance or something. I'd say just keep checking back with them. FastCargo
  14. What do you mean? Be specific. How do you want to change the trajectory? FastCargo
  15. I wonder that myself...but then looking at that video of the MiG-29 taking out the UAV, that missile plume looked HUGE! FastCargo
  16. Same here, the 7 month old takes any time I have remaining after all the OTHER stuff.... I'll be back...someday... FastCargo
  17. I'm glad someone brought this up...I was wondering why the cockpit I am working on had images that were tilted in the mirrors. FastCargo
  18. Exactly my man! Long before terms like 'cyberspace','virtual reality','the matrix', etc entered social discourse, TRON pioneered the concepts on screen. Also, things like 'The Last Starfighter' were pretty, but still used the same old 'lone star pilot against incredible odds' concept in Star Wars...and so I felt it was just a ripoff. TRON was unique in that 'man against computer' was done before...but never fighting the computer from the inside...the idea of an entire world inside the computer. In addition, it was a sing out to the emerging gamer population...those youngers who watched the movie and played those arcade games as kids were all the ones who later became the movie CGI, special effects, game console and computer game designers of today. It's amazing how many of those of my generation who are gamers find that movie to a defining experience...for all it's cheeziness. FastCargo
  19. Fubar, Is that exhaust heat haze? Nah.... FastCargo
  20. So, who admits that the movie TRON affected them in a profound way when growing up? Mostly, this means anyone under about 35 probably has no idea what I'm talking about... It was so profound...I never did watch E.T. like everyone else did... Funny enough, I found out decades later that my wife did the exact same thing when she was a kid! Recently reading the TRON:Ghost in the Machine comic miniseries...which caused me to watch the movie again...which caused me to boot up TRON 2.0 again. And btw, using the DX9 HDR effects addon alluded to in another thread has nicely 'tweaked' the game... Monolith really does an FPS right... FastCargo
  21. Yep...confirmed from first hand knowledge. I've noticed a lot of times it seems to have strong association with the kind of career the person has had too. For instance, in general terms, I've noticed the guys you want to hang out with were the A-10 guys, the guys who were most likely to be asses were the F-15 guys, with the F-16 guys somewhere in between. Note I say in general. I know a lot of F-15 guys who are great to drink beer with and hang around...but if you want the guy who's the 'gnats-ass' numbers/standards guy, you normally went with the Eagle dude...which makes it a pain when the debrief takes twice as long as the flight. Verses your 'big picture' Hog guy who debriefs you in the jet so he can beat the throng to the bar. I jest of course. Mostly. FastCargo
  22. Actually, the situation I meant was if the RIGHT engine was out. You're right, normally (as normal as single engine ops get) you 'step on the good engine'...real important for non-centerline thrust A/C as you know. What he was telling me was totally opposite....using right rudder with a dead right engine. It had something to do with the torque of a full thrust left engine (prop rotating right, causing the engine-and thereby the aircraft, to try to bank left) overcoming the thrust vector (which would normally cause the aircraft to yaw right). It wasn't a problem if the left engine was out, because both props rotated the same way (not contra rotating)...so the torque would add to the thrust vector, therefore 'stepping on the good engine' works like you think it would. The non-natural input would only be necessary at full power on the left engine from what I understand. So single engine, while coming down the wire, you could be using left rudder as you think you should, but then would have to put in RIGHT rudder if you had to do a wave off.... Freaky man! FastCargo
