  1. As far as I know, the CF-188 uses the same pit and aircraft model as the F/A-18. I would say apply the fix as listed, then simply rename everything in the new F/A-18 directory as CF-188. That's my guess. FastCargo
  2. No...spent 6 years of my life at Laughlin, currently at Randolph. If he ends up being a T-38 FAIP, I'll probably see him there. FastCargo
  3. It truly is all relative. An example is this: Laughlin AFB in Texas is one of the USAFs basic Pilot Training bases of the 4 that we have. There are so many traffic movements (defined as takeoffs and landings) that we usually EXCEED the busiest airports in the world. That's for ONE base for ONE branch of the military service...for BASIC pilot training. Multiply that by the number of bases, by the number of programs (transition, weapon system checkout and operations) and you start to truly get an idea how much we fly. With those kinds of rates...statistics simply start catching up. As I was telling someone else on another message board who made the very foolish statement that safety should always be first: We try like hell to manage risk... but sometimes, it's not your day. It's sad when it happens...I've buried more friends than I care to think about. But we try to learn lessons from it and go from there. FastCargo
  4. Because campaign makers do not own all the pieces needed. There are complete campaigns out there...but most of them are over 100 MB in size. FastCargo
  5. Laughlin?? You poor soul...I spent 6 years of my career there.... FastCargo
  6. That's a waste of a perfectly good bottle of Weed... FastCargo
  7. Hey you weren't supposed to tell anybody Dave! Thanks for the well wishes guys...spent most of the day dealing with Time Warner Cable.... But hey, I got Animaniacs and Samurai Jack for my birthday... FastCargo
  8. There is a sim that has the X-31....it's called Jane's ATF or Jane's Fighter Anthology. FastCargo
  9. I have SO got to get out there in July when I come up for the airshow... FastCargo
  10. Klavs81, nice work. Take all the time you need. FastCargo
  11. Reference this thread. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...3&hl=hornet Follow my instructions in that thread to the letter. FastCargo
  12. Mustaches actually are fine in the USAF...just the size that matters....so to speak. The biggest issue with any facial hair is getting a proper seal on the oxygen mask, especially with the newer style where there is an inner 'lip' inside the mask. Unfortunately, any mustaches I've grown...look like crap. I look much better with a goatee...but can't have that in either job for the same reason as above... Anyway, congrats to our exchange bretheren...glad he's around! FastCargo
  13. Also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't work yet anyway. I'd love something like that for my Hellfires and ALARMs. FastCargo
  14. Also, Florian has some helpful files that detail what most functions do in the cockpit.ini file. Best thing to do is look through other cockpit.ini files to start getting an idea on how things work. What I've found so far is that cockpits are not conceptually that hard to build. But it's very tedious work because there are so many fiddly bits, especially in older cockpits with lots of needles. FastCargo
  15. Relax, they're probably just going through maintenance or something. I'd say just keep checking back with them. FastCargo
  16. What do you mean? Be specific. How do you want to change the trajectory? FastCargo
  17. I wonder that myself...but then looking at that video of the MiG-29 taking out the UAV, that missile plume looked HUGE! FastCargo
  18. Same here, the 7 month old takes any time I have remaining after all the OTHER stuff.... I'll be back...someday... FastCargo
  19. I'm glad someone brought this up...I was wondering why the cockpit I am working on had images that were tilted in the mirrors. FastCargo
  20. Exactly my man! Long before terms like 'cyberspace','virtual reality','the matrix', etc entered social discourse, TRON pioneered the concepts on screen. Also, things like 'The Last Starfighter' were pretty, but still used the same old 'lone star pilot against incredible odds' concept in Star Wars...and so I felt it was just a ripoff. TRON was unique in that 'man against computer' was done before...but never fighting the computer from the inside...the idea of an entire world inside the computer. In addition, it was a sing out to the emerging gamer population...those youngers who watched the movie and played those arcade games as kids were all the ones who later became the movie CGI, special effects, game console and computer game designers of today. It's amazing how many of those of my generation who are gamers find that movie to a defining experience...for all it's cheeziness. FastCargo
  21. Fubar, Is that exhaust heat haze? Nah.... FastCargo
  22. So, who admits that the movie TRON affected them in a profound way when growing up? Mostly, this means anyone under about 35 probably has no idea what I'm talking about... It was so profound...I never did watch E.T. like everyone else did... Funny enough, I found out decades later that my wife did the exact same thing when she was a kid! Recently reading the TRON:Ghost in the Machine comic miniseries...which caused me to watch the movie again...which caused me to boot up TRON 2.0 again. And btw, using the DX9 HDR effects addon alluded to in another thread has nicely 'tweaked' the game... Monolith really does an FPS right... FastCargo
