  1. This app is probably a 'Freemium' business model...where the basic app is free, but add-ons are either earned through LOTS of gameplay, or can be bought in micro transactions (0.99 USD). FC
  2. Nothing that covers the era covered by SFA though (Cold War). Okay, more observations: Playing with F-8 now. Plane is a little more responsive. Terrian and weather are randomized. Guns are unlimited but are auto reloaded which takes time. Missiles are limited, no reloads. Also, AIM-9B is rear aspect only, and seeker circle is slow to slew and easy to 'pull' off target, and you have to keep it steady on the target to increase probability of hit. Gameplay time has increased to 4 minutes. No one has shot at me yet. You can crash into terrain. Min speed just results in a sluggish aircraft.
  3. First initial impressions: 1. This is an arcade game, no doubt. Players start in the air, radar is omni direchtional, no cockpit view (I think), targets have red boxes and lead aim points. 2. Each game session is 3 minutes (so far) and consists of shooting down targets. The targets seem to increase in difficulty with each downing. 3. Played with the F-100 and F-100C so far...obviously FM is simplefied, but definitely a bit sluggish like you would think a Hun is. Throttle position is not persistent but is added in bursts. More to come.. FC
  4. Guess I'll have to try it out...can't beat the price.... FC
  5. This thing sounds like crap in terms of the data.ini. The data.ini FM needs to be completely symmetrical first, then the troubleshooting can be more reliable. And I suspect what the problem is...if so, the only way it will be fixed is to either fly the aircraft in normal mode...or the MAX file needs fixing. FC
  6. It's been known about for a long time. However, from what I understand it was never deployed operationally. First, you need a different missile. Second, a different launch rail. Third, a different fire control system. Fourth, it means that missile is useless if the target is in front... Or, you could enhance current missiles with vectored thrust/large control surfaces, high off boresight and 'Lock On After Launch (LOAL)' combined with HMS capability. Guess which one everyone does... FC
  7. First, we will not 'give' you the SF2 game. We cannot do that, you must purchase it from thirdwire.com. Second, most everything made for the SF2 series can be adjusted for the SF1 series (with the exception of 3d objects) with only a little effort. You can either try it yourself or ask VERY nicely if someone will help you. FC
  8. In the Classified Mission Mod I created I was able to change the callsigns by editng several files, but I don't remember offhand which ones they were... FC
  9. Nah, it's like a stomp rocket! http://www.stomprocket.com/ FC
  10. Crap, I think Monty is correct now that I think about it. I think DESTROYED means the aircraft is shot down, but DISABLED means the part is blown off and the Damaged node is shown. That's why most surfaces use DISABLED but the fuselage typically uses DESTROYED. FC
  11. I'm not near my PC at the moment....perhaps one of our other intrepid modders can send the file? FC
  12. Sweet! One thing...you may want to take a look at my T-38A cockpit I did. The MAX file is available in the Modder's section and you may be able to use some of the stuff I did for it since a lot of the parts for the F-5A and T-38A were similar. FC
  13. Actually, I thought Disabled meant the mesh was still there (with damaged textures) but the effectiveness was gone, but Destroyed meant the node was blown off and the DamagedNode was shown instead.
  14. I think it's a good solution. Simply regulate and tax it like alcohol and tobacco, and prosecute abusers like you do for DUI and 'public drunkeness'. Fundamentally, currently illicit controlled substances are not much different than alcohol and tobacco, and we let those things ruin lives everyday. At least by legalization and regulation, we can reduce the associated violence of illegal drug trafficking. FC
  15. Folks, if there are missing credits, be aware it was by accident, not through any deliberate action. It has been 4 years, so sometimes names fall through. Just send a PM (or better yet, let Wrench, The know in the Mig Alley forum). FC
  16. Language is one of those things that can be be very country/culture centric. Europe has an advantage in that there are several countries, close together, with small populations...you perforce have to be multicultural. Somewhere like the United States, a very large country with a large population...you could spend your whole life, living and traveling to different places, seeing vastly different landscapes and culture...and not have to speak anything but English. English is one of those languages that is easier to learn because it tends to be pretty fault tolerant. You can mangle tones, stresses, even syntax and still be understood. It can be very hard to master because of all the exceptions though...and there are a lot, due to it nature of being a 'mutt' language (absorbing parts of other languages). Asian languages to me are VERY difficult. In those, tone, stress and duration mean everything. You can mangle those in Anglo based languages and still be understood...you do that in an Asian language and whole sentences can change. Heck, China actually has 2 spoken languages that use the same written symbols for words but the spoken words are totally different. FC
  17. You didn't mention that this is also a whole new model.....:-) FC
  18. James, It seems to me you are going about this wrong. What I mean to say is this. You sound like someone who is intelligent and can articulate clearly. Your posts here at CA have tended to be easily read, understood, and usually very to the point....if sometimes a bit passionate. Which doesn't sound like someone who can only do brute force work...coming at it in a brute force way (ie straight on). Have you thought about doing an end run? Finding work that doesn't require a lot of physical activity but has plenty of entry level opportunity (telephone CSR comes to mind)? Also, if you have the opportunity, goto cracked.com and read some articles by John Cheese. I think you will find a kindred spirit there. The universe has a billion different ways it will try to kill you...don't give it any help. FC
  19. By the way, did Kevin happen to mention these are BRAND NEW models??? Just sayin' y'all... FC
  20. Every time I see 'manul', I keep reading it as 'maul'...which is appropriate I suppose... FC
  21. English speakers aren't necessarily any better....
  22. THAT is a Russian cat if there ever was one...and people voted for this choice? FC
  23. And all those photos of the Hindenburg were setup too. Seriously Lexx, not everything is a goddamned conspiracy. FC
