I've jailbroken an iTouch, it's no big deal. Just follow the steps exactly. And an iTouch as far as I can tell can run all the apps the comparable version of the iPhone can, except for those requiring the 'phone' parts. Anyway, there are homebrew apps you can run on a jailbroken iTouch that cannot be run on a normal iTouch. I don't have it here in front of me, so I can't give you examples right off the bat. Bottom line, it increases your options and gives Apple the finger, which I'm always looking to do. FC

TSR.2
FastCargo replied to Lexx_Luthor's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
F-106 and F-105 are both single engine. Considering the A-5 was made by North American, is roughly the same size as the F-108 would have been, it seems the better fit. FC -

Actually, I just realized the A-5 cockpit would be a good fit for the F-108.... FC -

Easy bud, easy...sometimes ya just gotta grit your teeth and bear it. FC -
Neither, which unfortunately makes it harder to implement as the mod will not tell the difference between an F-104 or B-70 in terms of aircraft line up. Realistically, this would be tied to an airfield type, not a specific aircraft or airfield. The best way to implement it would be to tie it with small airfields that only have fighter type aircraft on them. If you can live with 16 aircraft lined up for takeoff on the runway at once, then this mod would work for you. FC

Well, this is what I've been able to do so far: From the time the first jet got airborne until the last jet broke ground was 10 seconds. Restrictions I have noticed so far include you can either have jets in taxi slots or takeoff slots, but not both. The other restriction is the same as for the Quicker Takeoff Mod...it won't work for large aircraft visually. Also, though the jets do more or less takeoff at the same time, they still don't really takeoff is formation, at least, in tight formation. FC

F-35 falling on the cutting block ?
FastCargo replied to Veltro2k's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well, in my opinion the F-35, along with most other modern weapon system procurement procedures is burdened by the following: 1) Technology: Making the bleeding edge always takes longer than expected, with bugs to work out. It also always costs more. Also, 'feature creep' tends to be rolled into this...the thinking is over the development cycle, we get the 'what if we add or change this'. This happened during the B-2s development cycle, resulting in a major redesign and delay. You've seen this with modern civilian aircraft as well (A380 and B787). Finally, a lot of time is spent making sure to not repeat mistakes of previous iterations of similar aircraft (think of lessons learned in operations of the F-117 and F-22 being applied to the F-35) 2) Politics: This is the big one I think. Every state (or nation) wants a piece of the action, resulting in a requirements and QC nightmare. In addition, the constant political practice of 'stretching out' the development time on a weapon system to save money in the short term drives me crazy because it ALWAYS drives up cost (and feature creep sneaks in because of this). It's like applying for a loan on a house...the longer the loan period, the more you ultimately pay. 3) Contracts: The USG cannot write a contract to save its life. Contracts should be written to the extent that if certain goals or points cannot be met at certain times, that penalties (such as fines, or reduced cost) should be enforced. There will always be wasted spending somewhere in a program, and sometimes the waste is generated by the very government oversight designed to avoid waste. I can tell you horror stories of the logistics side of the house...how government regulations actually wasted more money and time then if it was simply left up to the organization how to spend its budget. Personally, I like ezlead's idea of the USAF buying the C model, though I'd like the internal gun back. It's much easier to take out the Navy bits...or live with the increased 'beef' which would translate into increased life spans. FC -
WOI on Vista
FastCargo replied to Siddley's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
WOI will run just fine on Vista if patched to Oct 08 level. I keep thinking what TK really needs to say is that SFP1/SFG/WOV/WOE/WOI are not supported to run on Vista/Win7. FC -
Okay, this is what I have so far: Lineup Rolling Airborne These are all the same flight, only one ini file was altered. Should work for single missions, both computer generated and custom, as well as campaigns (once the 'start in air' bug is fixed). But there will be some restrictions. I'm going to try to see if there is more I can do. FC
-
How you are you going to do that for the serial number? You still need decals for that. And you still need to create a Decals.ini file and remove the relevant entries. The fastest way would be to extract the decals.ini file for one of the SF2 stock A-4s and put in into the directory of the textures you are using. That should have the proper position information you need. FC

China's new aircraft and no one here talks about it ?
FastCargo replied to Wraith27's topic in Military and General Aviation
These pictures are too far away to determine fit and finish. You pretty much have to be standing next to the aircraft to determine that. Secondly, they are obviously VERY early in the test program being that there is one aircraft, its preflights take forever, and its flying pictures all show it with gear down. FC
