View File SF2E: TSF: The Suomenlahti Skirmishes SF2E: TSF: The Suomenlahti Skirmishes By The Scandinavian Front Team During the summer of 1964, the Finnish Air Force is in the middle of a large buildup. Having been granted possesion of guided missiles and a few Bombers for Maritime Recon duties, the Finnish Air Force is a competent and mobile addition to the Scandinavian Arsenal. On the first of August, The Soviet Union declared the Finns in voilation of the Paris treaty, limiting the size of their Air Force and decides to patrol the Finnish Skies. The Finns retort that any unauthorized aircraft in Finnish Airspace will be shot down. The Finns are about to show what they can do with their new MiGs, the loathed Gnat and the venerable Vamppi against five full squadrons of Soviet Aircraft... A/N: The Mod is based around a limited air war between Finland and the Soviet Union. There is no ground conflict, and most of the missions will involve defensive measures taken to ensure Finnish Supremacy over their homeland. If you are a fan of Close Air Support or ground attack, this is probably not the mod for you. Installation: If you are using a mod, or plan to use one, TSF will mess around with settings other mods may be using. As such, creating a seperate mod folder for TSF is a good idea. If you only plan to use TSF, then this step can be bypassed. Go to your installation folder (Usually C:\Program Files\Thirdwire\Strike Fighters 2). Make a copy of Strike Fighters 2.exe / Strike Fighters 2 Europe.exe depending on what you prefer and got installed. Name the Copy Strike Fighters 2 TSF.exe . Start your new .exe once, then close the game. Now go to your Mod Folders. For Windows 7/Vista, this is located in C:\User \Name\Saved Games\Thirdwire. Unzip the contents of the 7zip file into the mod folder of your choice. Allow any overwrites. As long as this package is installed last, it can and should be merged with the other The Scandinavian Front packages. 6. Then you should try out TSF: The Catalina Affair if you happen to have a thing for naval battles ;-)
  7. I have seen it and it was GOOOOOOD! (with one O)
  8. The Mission Editor DLC would probably be of good use to you :) https://store.thirdwire.com/store_dlc.htm
  9. Usually, permits are given to land them in Allied Countries. The lack of this almost ditched the Entebbe Raid.
  10. ...there are heated discussions about what to do next: (All comics from http://satwcomic.com btw, all glory to humon :) Like about the Campaign we never did... Ah yes, Canada and Denmark's epic battle for Hans Island. Hans Island is the smallest of three islands not far from Greenland's coast, and Canada and Denmark have been fighting over it for years. War ships from both sides patrol the area, and when they encounter each other they...show their flags. When the soldiers leave the ships they...take the other side's flag down and raise their own. Sometimes they leave a bottle of whiskey too. Quite possibly the tamest war ever, yet USA and Sweden have tried their best to make the sides hate each other. USA's media have had stories about Denmark "invading Canadian soil" and Swedish media had a few stories about it as well and later comedians called Danish politicians and pretended to be Canadian politicians. So far it haven't really worked. :XD: Our attempt to bring Denmark into the mod had some side effects: The reason for the war explained in simple terms: And this is why we cannot deploy air units on Aeland: It would make the entire campaign way, way to easy ;-) During the Finnish war Russia chased the Swedish soldiers off of Åland. Then they went home, but left about 450 well trained soldiers behind in case the Swedes would come back. The soldiers started getting bossy and tried commanding the Ålanders around and make them harvest their grain for them. The Ålanders were not happy about that at all, so a few sneaked back to Sweden and said, “They want us to work for them, but we will stay faithful to the Swedish king. We are ready to do anything, but we need help!” The Swedes wanted to help, but could only effort to send a few soldiers and guns for the farmers. With their new weapons the Ålanders, all farmers who had no military training whatsoever, sneaked up on the Russian soldiers and surprised them. In fact the Ålanders were so vicious and good that the Russians thought they were up against an army of Swedish soldiers and decided to surrender. Across from the battlefield the Ålanders looked confused on as Russians started waving white flags. Because they had no military training they didn’t understand the signal, and just kept shooting! The Russiand must have thought they were crazy. :XD: It didn’t stop before some Swedish soldiers saw what was going on and told them to stop. Great was the Russians’ humiliation when they realised they had surrenders to farmers! :XD: Only three people dired during the battle. Sweden was so very proud of Åland that day. :D As [link] put it: “So don't mess with Åland. The only reason he has agreed to all the non-fortification and non-militarisation treaties since the Crimean war and the destruction of Bomarsund is that he is so badass that he does not need them.” ;)
  11. Sorry, can´t seem to find a map of them anywhere. Several of the squadrons home bases is not present on the NorthCape terrain so you will have to re-base them anyhow. I honestly dont know. Its not me working on them.
  12. Here is some out of my notes: F 1 Hässlö: J 35F Draken F 4 Frösön: J 35F Draken F 6 Karlsborg: A 32 Lansen F 7 Såtenäs: AJ 37 Viggen F 10 Hässleholm: AJ 37 Viggen F 11 Nyköping: S 35E Draken F 12 Kalmar: J 35F Draken F 13 Bråvalla: J 35F Draken / SF-37 Viggen F 16 Uppsala: J 35F Draken F 17 Kallinge: J 35 F Draken F 21 Luleå: J 35D Draken Your main issue will be the Viggens and maybe the SK 60 out of F 5 Ljungbyhed. TSF is working on both but they will be SF2 only. There is a Viggen, but A Team has it under close lockdown and refuse to release it for public use. As for the Drakens, the J and D versions are avalible in the Draken Superpackage, but they are not as good as they could have been.
  13. TSF is for SF2. This seems to be for SF1. I got all the information you could possibly need about the Swedish Units. The Soviet ones are a lost cause. We already done all that research :D
  14. Oh, a P-51D? *snores* Honestly, I expected more from DCS. I dont mind a WW2 Era bird in the right setting, but just as a flyable for money with only modern planes as opposition? No thanks
  15. Well, thankfully SOPA seems to have died. Just PIPA and ACTA left... Who comes up with these f***ing names anyhow? :D
  16. Sorry, but the term Airborne / Flying Battleship is already taken: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0w3FcVe9gc ;-)

    A must see

Almost as entertaining is the comments section, with their cries of "FAAKE" and the odd "NOES; I HAD THIS IDEA AND WOLKSWAGEN STOOOOLE IT; I DEMAND MONEYZ!" But just almost. Dogs + Imperial March - few things beat that.
  18. It has to be mentioned (because people keep mentioning it to me :D) that the green RB 24 is a practice warhead. White ones are combat warheads, identical to AIM-9 Series.
  19. Could been a file that was not overwritten or similar thing. Still, I am perplexed. Good to hear it was solved with a quick reinstall. We will see when the next package comes out. It will either be the 2012 package or the 1966 package, that I can say for sure.
  20. Well, it would be a helluvalot of ships and creation for something that in essentials would be flying helicoper recon over CAS Scenarios of ships. Futhermore, I doubt the terrain is avalible.
  21. Once upon a time, Star Trek Online was released. This was of course for me as a Trek fan, a rather big thing. The ability to experience the ships and plots, the spieces and the locations was a rather interesting one. At launch, however it all came to sodding hell. The Beta was buggy, and two weeks before launch there was no hint at fixes. Futhermore, the game itself was somewhat dull, and not very polished. It was a decent MMO, but it was too grindtastic to be allowed to live. So I went back to World of WarCraft and cancelled my pre-order. About a year later, I purchased Star Trek Online off Gamersgate and ventured around the galaxy for about two weeks. The ground combat had not changed, and was still as terrible as a vomiting terrier, but the Space Combat and ship custumization had improved and was really, really fun. I did not stick around to pay for another month, however and my officer was left in the transporter buffer. It was however with joy I heard that Star Trek Online was made a free to play title. You see, I consider it a decent game, just not decent enough for me to pay to actually play it. Ground Combat have been revamped and is feeling less of a chore, space combat is no longer the grindtastic issue it once was, and the things you lose for not paying is actually a rather small affair. The main issue is that you no longer will gain free upgrades on ships above a certain rank, but for me, that is quite the non-issue as the currency used for ships is somewhat easy to come by. You can also pay your way out by buying a special payware ship in the C-Store. So, as a former Captain, I was invited for F2P earlier then most. Its set to launch at the 17th, so what is my recommendation about Star Trek Online F2p? I would want any person with an interest in Star Trek or Space Combat in general to try out this title. It´s not like you risk anything other then time and disc space. I have to mention the music as well. The music is a decent mix of the shows themes, and themes from some of the games (unfortunately some tunes from Legacy...), and a march reminding oneself of Bridge Commander and Klingon Academy. Overall, its a good composition that does its job. The sound effects are what you could expect, but nothing brilliant. However, there are a few things that are rather imperative to mention. The Episodes are key to the entire experience. They contain decent to bloody exellent plots, a interesting experience and are sometimes long, spanning over several levels. They also contain some voice acting, and give hefty chunks of experience. So when the Tutorial is over, the "Hail" button is there for you to start an episode and hopefully enjoy what is of it. While it cannot compete with the storytelling of The Old Republic, it certainly feels alot like more an MMO then The Old Republic does. The Space around you is filled with ships from both factions, and its rather fun just to sit and watch ship names and customizations for a while. Speaking of the latter, they are one of the most fun parts. At each new rank, you can choose between three ships. Crusier (Tank), Escort (DPS), or Science (Healer). Of these ships, you get three models who are somewhat similar to each other in design, and one is usually a classic vessel from the shows or movies. So, you can mix the parts with each other, give the vessel a different finish or just enjoy creating your own vessel. All in all, if you like Star Trek, you cant go much wrong with Star Trek Online. Its worth trying out.
  22. We are in need of voice actors who can speak Finnish, Danish or / and Norwegian for the roles as pilots.
  23. TSF is working on it. Any voice actors with Danish, Norwegian and Finnish skills would also be welcome.
  24. A screenshot is not different from other forms of digital art. Furthermore, just because something is posted on the Internet does not mean it is fair game for commercial interests to use them as they see fit. Yes, posting copyright information does help, but that a picture lacks it is not a valid excuse. In Theory, private, non-commercial use is protected by fair use, but even then, few would be so mad as to try (or want) and pursue people who reposted things on their blogs. I do however know one - and it cost her a ton in court. I am a photographer by profession, so I do happen to know a little about this sort of thing, especially as it happens to me from time to time.
