LOL! Good to see you back in action! I also just happen to be checking things out just prior to taking off again. Time to down more of the Yankee imperialists and their lackeys!

For starters, the campaigns can be anything but boring depending on which you are doing. Want a truly insane challenge? Do a tour or two in WOV Gold. Second, fly DiD and see how long you can fly with one pilot. As for bombing? Get the Range mod and practice. Soon you'll be instinctivly rolling your aircraft into a 45 degree dive with ease and making textbook drops. Since you'll have no CCIP, stick and rudder work will be needed to get the job done.

http://combatace.com/gallery/image/19350-img00779/ http://combatace.com/gallery/image/19351-img00781/\ Success! Got a Shrike hit from 70 miles! Went up in an A7A again armed with 4 Shrike Bs and engaged in the same manner as with the Standard ARM. The first missle was woefully short but the second flew well and homed in for a near miss just about 50 meters short of the target. The third overshot and so everything was set for the final Shrike, which was a direct hit! The key is in the pitch up angle and smoothly getting the nose up so as not to abruptly bleed off speed that is crucial to the launch. I'll go back to the Range over the next few days and see if i can consistently repeat the shot. If so, i'll make sure to take screenshots of the instrument panel to show the proper angles.

Depends on the target. Going in close to a formation of Beagles is just asking to be shot down by their tailgunners.
-
Forgot to mention the pitch up angle, which was about 30-35 degrees. Nose was raised at 81 miles and launch altitude was 21,500+ IIRC. Also tried making some shots from 90 miles but something seems to be preventing taht. The missle will only climb so far before abruptly leveling off and going no further tha 35 miles at the most. Experimenting with long range Shrikes will be more difficult since it doesn't have as much thrust. It'll need to be launched at higher speeds and altitudes to get it on a flight path that will allow it to come down on an angle that will be needed to reach the target.

One thing i'd advise with a Shrike is altitude. Yesterday, i went to the Range and set up an A-7 with Shrike Bs. I flew towards the target at 20,000ft until the radar showed on the RHAW, then reversed course. At 55 miles out i pulled back towards the target, lined it up on the scope and at 50 miles range pulled the nose up about 20 degrees and fired. Direct hit! What i've been tryng to do for the longest time is see if i can find the right altitude, airspeed, and pitch up angle to hit with a Shrike from 70 miles out. With a Standard, 70 mile hits are rather routine, as i said above. In a little while i'll head back out to the Range and see how far i can better that as well as logging the firing info.
-
Provided you are lined up with the RHAW you should have no problem hitting a radar with the Standard. In tests on the range, it is pretty routine to score from 70 miles out provided one raises the nose at a proper launch angle to allow the seeker to home in once the missle is dropping down on a ballistic flight path. In actual action, the furtherest kill i've ever scored was about 36 miles.

Perhaps some con will be caring enough to beat the crap out of this fool?

The scariest thing in the world is being at the mercy of Politicians. -
I had the Shadowrun stuff too! However, my gaming group thought all the elves and stuff was pretty stupid so we just ignored all that and played it out more like William Gibson's works.

Wow, i haven't played Battletech since 1990! I actually found the RPG first and then the games. I had all the house books and readouts until i lost everything to a housefire. What great times were had!

I might one one of the few people around who are praying to GET laid off. Take a hell of a long paid vacation and then go back to work. At my job, we have one lady that got laid off when her position was outsourced and had a ball for about 11 months until she got a bit bored and came back to another department! I'd do the same thing as there are maybe 6-7 positions i could do.

Remember this thread? http://combatace.com/topic/56049-a-view-on-ilegal-immigration/page__hl__latino Right now at work i have a Cuban co-worker who's sending all kinds of money to a lawyer down to Ecuador so he can get his niece's visa paperwork in order. Recently, one of my Cousins got here to the US after a 4 year wait. Good thing he has family here that knows how to deal with the red tape.

Libyan Mig shot down over Benghazi

Thanks for the clear pics. I wassn't 100% sure on the aircraft in in the video. -
Video of Libyan Mig getting it's ass kicked

I was thinking the same. Absolutly no AAA tracers to be seen and it looks a bit high for small arms fire unless a whole bunch of people happened to be shooting at just the right spot for the golden BB to strike. -
Help this new dude about some bugs in WOE
Lt. James Cater replied to skulz's topic in General Discussion
First off, i'd suggest you go to the downloads section and install Nato Fighters I-IV. Get "The Range" as well so you can have a nice place to experiment. Then head over to the knowledge base and start reading and taking notes. Also, use the search function here since a lot of questions and solutions just like yours have been disscussed in the past. -
All these end-timers really make me wish it was certainly the end of THEIR time!

Great clip, love the Veronica Lake impersonator!

Just wanted to add to this even though it's some months later. The CF5-A is one hell of a dogfighter. If in a 1V4 situation don't hesitate to make a few evading moves and run for it.
-
I really think it would make a nice impromptu interceptor in it's stock form. With your modifications, it sorta reminds me of the JU88 nightfighter. The one thing i'd advise is to keep the tailgunner. The more i think of the A-7, the more i'm considering another campaign in one. Between the Limas and the M61, it can be quite a surprise for unsuspecting enemies who decide to engage at close quarters.
-
Actually, using the IL-28 as an interceptor is a hell of an idea! As it is a bomber, it has good range and it is fortunate enough to be armed with two forward firing 23mm guns. Even the tail gunner can be brought into the act by flying just ahead of the target at a slightly higher or lower altitude.
