  1. Often they will put prototypes or very early production, time-expired models in museums that are no longer fit for service.
  2. That's the unique part of a scramjet...it can use supersonic air.
  3. What's the point when they just build tunnels?
  4. I was going to say, there are 2000 more files in the 2nd list, so something was up!
  5. Odd, I wouldn't think there'd be anything to see if the power was off...or was it on for some reason?
  6. I'm not sure if it's the ponytail or handlebar mustache that really sells that look.
  7. When SW came out, there was no home video or cable. Other than theatrical releases you had to wait for years for it to be on TV. By the time of the 3rd film, though, both home video and cable existed, albeit in only limited scope. I seem to recall seeing SW on cable shortly after the 3rd film's release, even though both it and the 2nd one were rereleased prior to the 3rd film's debut. I clearly remember it took 4 years for the 3rd film to come out on video (don't know why I remember it was 1987, I just do). I think by the end of the 80s video releases were under a year. Now they can come out on DVD while still in limited play in a couple of venues.
  8. Why do they use such fake sound? That was filmed in the UK, and sirens do NOT sound like that in the UK...unfortunately. Instead they have that dying donkey sound...
  9. Hey, they've got the biggest bomber in the world, isn't that enough?
  10. Well, except for the blacks, Jews, mentally ill...
  11. What good is being "better" than them if they win? Besides, feeling superior to others and thereby justifying heinous actions is the root of the problem in the first place...
  12. The best gauge for a film is attendance, not money, and yes I think Avatar was #26 on that list last I looked? GWTW will always be #1 for several reasons. The biggest is, of course, it came out when there was no TV. EVERYONE went to the movies back then, some weekly, as that's where the news reels were as well. Also, if you liked a film and wanted to see it again you HAD to see it in the theater on a re-release as there was no TV to see it on! The media scene has permanently altered, and while someday a film might make more money than Avatar, no one will beat those old attendance records.
  13. None of these were undetectable by earth-bound telescopes. There are a few ways to determine a star's size and mass (the 2 are not always linked). Some of the biggest, closest ones actually appear as a small dot vs a pinpoint.
  14. I think it safe to say the guy has no life, and probably no job either...unless he's flipping burgers at Mooby's.
  15. I think the SA-16 and -18 are considered very good MANPADs now from the eastern bloc. How they fare compared to Stingers I haven't heard.
  16. I always think it odd to see MiG-29's with underwing fuel tanks. Did they really hook up smoke generators to Su-25s and 39s (looks like a mixed formation)?
  17. I fail to kill dozens of people daily that really irritate me. Where's my medal?
  18. I don't think the Stinger existed back then. The SA-7 might have been the first to be widely used, but I'm not sure if it was THE first.
  19. I say they combine both possible verdicts...life imprisonment while hanging from the neck until death. His life could last several days!
  20. A certain harrassing entity trying to stir up crap on other sites via false statements about CA staff...vaccillates between humorous and annoying, depending on phase of the moon.
  21. It hardly matters when people don't actually LISTEN to what the other guy is saying and instead "interpret" a couple of buzzwords as meaning "they see differently!" and going off on a rant....when if they bothered to listen they'd realize how close their viewpoints were in the first place. But, I suppose feeling 1% different is the same as 100% different to them...the old "if you're not with me on EVERY issue to the SAME degree you're against me."
  22. When Peter takes out the TV ad to spread "the word" I was LOL.
  23. I've got a pair of WD's...a "book" sized 250GB from several years back with external power and a "pocket" sized 640GB from last year that powers off USB. Both work fine.
  24. He was within inches of catching a wire anyway! That would've been disaster as he was yanked from the sky...
  25. I was nearly born on the 4th of July, actually!
