  1. IIRC, there were more F-14Bs made than D's. You could turn an A into a B with relatively little work, as it was pretty much just an engine change, but the D had a totally new cockpit as well. By retiring the A's they standardized the fleet on one engine, but it was still different enough that they split the 2 models between the east and west coasts. Anyway, the B is the plane the F-14 was meant to be and the D was the plane it could've been. Of course, after the end of the Cold War not only was production stopped but the rigs were ordered destroyed so no more could be made.
  2. Yeah, tell me about it. Two years ago we had a boon with Surface, Threshold, and Invasion...all cancelled, and only 2 made a full season. Still, all left us hanging. The best part of QL was the Sam/Al interactions, proving once again good shows are character-based as much as anything else.
  3. LOL, I remember in the old days just doing it from the DOS prompt!
  4. I think you're confusing "menu screens" with "loading screens." The one FC posted is what showed up when you clicked "fly" before you got into the cockpit. The ones you've posted are all menu shots from stuff you do BEFORE clicking fly.
  5. IIRC, captured planes were used in special ops missions on several occasions in WWII.

You can't prove a negative. You can either show a direct link or an indirect link between human activity and warming, or you can't. If you can't, it doesn't mean there aren't any, or isn't one, it just means that you can't prove it. That's like saying "prove that my daily ritual of garlic gargling doesn't prevent attack by vampires." Fact: you gargle garlic. Fact: you've not been attacked by vampires. Doesn't prove garlic prevents vampire attack.
  7. rfactorcentral USED to have links that were good. The guy pulled them after he apparently had mega bandwidth bills. He later reinstated very slow links. It's a shame. As for FSONE, it's ok, but I think the low speed handling leaves a lot to be desired. As soon as you're below 100mph all bets are off as to what the car will do. I prefer the BMW F1 car from ISI.
  8. Yup, and cancelled around 15-16 years ago when I was in HS. The Flying Dorito.
  9. LOMAC does indeed have training missions. Some are better than others.

Avoiding it? Some people seem to revel in it, I don't think there's any avoiding it.
  11. I might get RACE 2007 then. I skipped 2006 because people I knew told me it didn't really offer much that was different from GTR2 or rFactor. I have both of those, plus GTL and of course the old reliable, GPL, installed right now. I have F1C and NASCAR 2003 lying around, but not installed. I barely touch any but rFactor right now anyway.
  12. The only way it could work is if they took the characters and transplanted them to a more realistic modern situation. There's nothing wrong with the characters, and they're better defined than most war movie characters are.
  13. "Who do you think you are, Captain?" "Denny Crane!"
  14. Well, Wing Cmdr was fixed in that X was yaw, Y was pitch, and twist was roll. I seem to recall in the X Wing series, though, that X was a combination of roll and yaw...
  15. Well, to give context, they seem to think Over G Fighters had better and more realistic (as it was) gameplay, but AC6 looks better.
  16. The thing that strikes me about the futility of war is the failure to understand the other side's similarities and differences. Everyone always seems to think that by attacking they will make the people pressure their gov'ts into whatever they want...yet history has shown people will band together against an outside attacker. At the same time, if the identical tactics are used AGAINST them, they claim "we won't surrender!" Um, hello? Why do these people think that blowing things up at random here and there is going to bring about some massive worldwide change?
  17. They don't care if a movie is "good" or "bad." How many product placements have you seen in Oscar winning films? They only care if it will make them look good/increase sales. In this case, Porsche possibly thought that it would do more to hurt their sales with their existing clientele than it would to make Joe Schmo and his friends new customers.
  18. I seem to recall the Yak on Column5's site. There was a B-36 in progress way back when, I guess it was abandoned/unfinished. Someone was also working on a B-70 more recently, don't know what became of that.
  19. The few people I know who've played it found only the graphics impressive.
  20. I never bothered with SWG. Heard too much negative about it. As for XWA, I thought twist=roll WAS the default. I'm confused...
  21. You'd get a lot of odd looks methinks.
  22. Yeah, it was the Matrix in the old cartoon, but you can't use that today thanks to the Wachowski Bros little film trilogy without being called a copycat.
