  1. Yeah, "announced" and "released" are two different worlds. As I noted to someone else making the complaint that not enough Euro planes were being done, who's buying? DCS' primary markets seem to be the US and Russia...so naturally they get the most. How many people would spend $50 for a DCS Mirage simulation? I'm sure lots of Russians have zero interest and a lot of Americans wouldn't want to fly a "French" plane. So if the effort involved is the same, wouldn't you make a plane likely to sell more?
  2. Does that mean that in absence of EW/CM/evasion, all missiles have a 100% PK chance? I always heard (perhaps anecdotal, perhaps verified, I can't recall) that the R-77 wasn't as reliable as AMRAAM and more likely to fail at some point in the process, from launch to guide to impact. So the R-77 was potentially as good, but in reality was not always able to live up to that.
  3. I don't know that missile work is part of any particular module's work or if it's just "DCS World". Obviously AA-only platforms need all those missiles working properly, while all the existing non-beta releases only have a few IR missiles able to be used by the player and it's not been a major concern. I would suppose it would be considered part of FC3's development, but there will likely be many missiles like the French ones that won't be heavily worked on but will need proper modeling for the 3rd parties doing those planes. I'm thinking ED is in charge of the missiles, but I suppose if they're specific to a particular plane maybe the 3rd party will have to do it?
  4. With the Forger being unconventional of course.
  5. But when we don't all come rushing at it in waves in relatively straight lines it will be very confused.
  6. He's totally serious. And don't call him Shirley.
  7. For some reason I thought FF had merged into BMS. Shows how much attention I pay to it!
  8. Naturally, but the facade of neglect is a powerful image, regardless of his actual intentions. When you think about it there's no logic to it being deliberate, but instinctual emotional reactions to things like that aren't usually tempered by logic.
  9. I've also heard that Sukhoi is now on the "out" and UAC is on the "in." Likewise Mil's and Kamov's designs have flopped back and forth with the Mi-28 and Ka-50/52 switching between the pick for the next helo, but I'm not sure what part of that is political and what is practical.
  10. I'll just say there are very few deaths I would consider "needed." Almost none of them are by those serving their armed forces.
  11. That doesn't present a very good image. Also gives fuel to the "PC development on the back burner" rumors.
  12. I'm pretty sure her medical issues will exclude her from any frontline sort of role, as well as being a pilot or any other type of position where a sudden problem could be fatal. There are plenty of noncombat roles that need to be filled as well, and her filling one of those would free up someone who could be on the sharp end of the stick from being relegated to a support role. I can't speak as to the overall staffing levels and needs vs quotas, but it won't hurt for her to visit a recruiter as long as she has realistic expectations that she might not get exactly what she wants.
  13. What I find funny is the 29K lost to the 33 decades ago, and is now going to be replacing them.
  14. I don't know about criminal charges, but I think this is a prime target for a civil suit.
  15. It's not like Archer's Enterprise was in the Rec Room in ST:TMP when Decker was showing Ilia the Probe around.
  16. If the missions are closely related, it makes the most sense to package them. If they're an eclectic bunch from all over the war, do however you'd prefer to, but I think packaging is still better since even together one file of missions is pretty small...but grabbing a bunch of individual files takes more time.
  17. I did it because at times there were so many of them talking, and it would insist on playing them sequentially, that I would hear wingmen screaming they were dying quite awhile after all combat had ceased and their planes were nothing but craters. I also couldn't help but laugh at their sticking to radio protocol even in death. "This is 4, AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!"
  18. I've never tried other than simply turning off the chatter altogether. I'll try stuff today and see if I have any luck.
  19. I'll try and do that today, if not this weekend then. So specifically you want to see how the AI utilizes them vs other AI and the results of those attacks?
  20. Don't forget all the foreign countries the US gives aid of varying types to worldwide!
  21. Right, but unlike a plane most of the throttle work is pre-programmed because a human would have a hard time getting it precise, especially under the vibrations of launch...those engines make it SHAKE. So while that is there, it's not used necessarily when you would expect. It might even be that controls the OMS but not the main engines, I've not bothered to check!
  22. Flexman was using a 3rd party engine to make his Combat Helo sim, but that thing has been on a development rollercoaster for some time now, who knows what will come of it if anything.
  23. Sure, for WWI (ROF) and WWII (Il-2 through CloD)! Oh, and EECH and Arma 2 for modern helos. I think there are 2 seat fast jet mods for Arma 2 but I don't know which offhand. While it's true the last fast jet sim that had it was F15SE3, and honestly I'm hard pressed to remember one BEFORE that, think how many fast jet sims came out in this century? LOMAC, which had the same MP options as DCS World today, so that's not different, but had only single seaters. Jane's F/A-18E...modeled a single seater. Falcon 4 and Flanker 2 came out in late 90s, but it was still all single seaters. F4 was supposed to get an F-15E expansion, but no idea if they were planning on FS/BS coop over F4's. TK's SF1 series, which had 2 seaters but only allowed 1 per plane, then gone altogether in SF2. Other than non-combat like X Plane and MSFS, what other fast jet sims have come out in the last dozen years? I'm drawing a blank...
  24. I'm not going in the water for several reasons: 1, it's winter. I don't care that it's Florida, the water is warm enough for me maybe from July-Sept max. 2, it's the ocean. I like fresh water, I despise salt water, and I'm not a big fan of the sand! 3, sharks aren't normally a big issue, I think we have more whale and dolphin beachings than shark attacks, but there are plenty of other things hiding under the sand or swimming near shore that are. This just reinforces my choice!
  25. LOL, you're using a top end 2011/12 system and claiming you have no trouble running a game with 2003-era graphics at max details? Naturally! Plus, the naval maps were extra easy on the PC. Try that number of airplane over the Gulf of Finland map over Leningrad and I'm sure it will be a bit slower. FWIW I know people with substantially less powerful systems that likewise run Il-2 at max with no problems. CloD is not as easy since it's a later generation, but with a machine more like yours you'd still get comparable performance with that number of planes as long as you're not fighting over a city like London.
