  1. I can't actually open the map from where I am logging in at the moment. Hence, my question. Understand the eye candy and the model isn't really flyable anyway. The ELINT caught my eye as that is not the E-2 mission. Very unlikely that one would go overland in such a mission. Not a big deal. Just curious.
  2. "E-2C Hawkeye (AI only). Departs CV-60 USS Saratoga on ELINT mission close to East German border. " an ELINT mission? when you say "close to East German border" are you putting it overland in the vicinity of the GIB (German Inner Border) or overwater in the Baltic? looks like a fantastic mission pack!! Looking forward to it.
  3. I imagine that would be a lot tougher since the carrier moves. maybe something in the formation portion of the ini?
  4. yea. "I doubt he was being precise." counts as an understatement. I don't really want to get into a detailed debate on this so I've edited out my earlier comments. I'm taking a "wave-off" from the discussion with my departure call - "Nice Sea Story" "As for the slowing down of the carrier" sometime I should discuss FLANCHOROPS (Flight Ops from Anchor)
  5. that is what it sounds like, but his description of ship handling and deck spotting is waaaaaaay off. so I am thinking that perhaps he is quoting someone else? who was engaged in a bit of a sea-story on a few minor points?
  6. that's not what they told me.......!!
  7. but don't edit the opposition! that's sometime my only escape to run out at 20ft and high mach.....
  8. if you are flying in the campaign they have to be included in the campaign weapons section for that squadron.
  9. usually when I drop it on the deck......
  10. you can't shoot in the other radar modes
  11. close your eyes..... and kiss your ........... goodbye! those were unguided rockets with a BIG BOOM at the end - so other than point it on an intercept heading at about 5nm - shoot - and get the $$#@^% out of the way! (note - those words of wisdom are approximate quotes from on old F-106 buddy of mine.)
  12. that doesn't quite sound exactly right in several points. Where did you get that info? some of it is correct and there were a few ops, but the handling that you mention is a bit far fetched. http://www.afa.org/magazine/feb2001/0201spyplane.asp

outstanding!!! should be inserted into a campaign. covertly.....
  14. very nicely done. You've made some nice campaigns here. I especially like them after inserting MF aircraft!!
  15. no tailhook for the C-130. You have to land it like a MAN. Reverse props while still airborne!!
  16. a few other "interesting" carrier ops - one of these is actually real......
  17. "in the early 80's when my dad was..... " thanks - junior! I had already rotated back to the states by then from the lively and exciting Med cruises playing tag with Russians, Libyans, etc......
  18. using the stealth fighter from a carrier maybe in the Bering Straight? sounds like one I posted in a reply awhile back. I don't have it at my fingertips at the moment but the discussion was in the mission section.
  19. yes, I know of all of those points and have read the reports. I don't fault the Israeli's for killing my shipmates by mistake. In war, accidents do happen. I've also read a number of accounts from other perspectives that shed a different light on the potential culpability of the Isrealis. I've read them, I do not know how to answer them. I do know that those who lost personal friends or those with access to back channel information will not ever, ever accept those explanations. I cannot fault them either. Only the Israeli's themselves know for certain. Our country accepted their explanation and so have I. We have made similar mistakes on occasion. War is a terrible business, unforgiving of error. Error does occur. I don't think we should dwell on that aspect here, but should give honors due to those who fell in all battles on all sides. In the small mission pack for the Gulf of Sidra incident, I tried to do just that in the credits.
  20. sounds like a mission pack with multiple sorties from both 'sides'. there was also a precedent for follow on strikes against PT bases that had attacked USN ships........ and 1989, 1990, 1991 campaigns? maybe even 1999 (Kososo terrain?) I might even know an old 6th Fleet guy to help out.......
  21. "unzip then and try to run them from the unzipped folder. " huh? run them from the unzipped folder? I'll be playing with this tonight and see if anything works. Its wierd. It actually opens up, but as soon as you click on the open button it vanishes.
  22. probably easier and make more sense to make a mission pack rather than a campaign. The other question would be how to make the Liberty not sink after being strafed, rocketed and torpedoed by our "friends".
  23. a chilling thought....... must have been an impressive approach speed! With that weight, speed and sink rate the Final spot must have been somewhere below the hangar deck on the mess decks? which brings to mind some other scenarios to try out........ "Buff, ball 45.7, heavy" "Wave it off, Buff. To many motors at the ramp!" we actually had a guy come to us from flying Hercs. His callsign, whatever it was before, was immediately changed to "motors"
  24. I'm also having a problem now. I had everything working OK on XP. Then I upgraded my Office suite from 2003 to 2007 and the editors now won't run.
