  1. Mast: See the ReadMes for the D/N model included in that aircraft's directory. You can switch seats with the "Gunsight Mode Toggle" Key (Caged mode is the back seat). As for the Rafale, no plans to add it because it's beyond the scope of the NF4+ project as I understand it (which ends roughly around the end of the Cold War, circa 1989). Eric Howes
  2. ace888: Dave is correct. The Mirage F-1s, SEPECAT Jaguars, and Mirage 2000s in this update are the old models that have been around for some time. All have had considerable work done to them to make them more "SF2-friendly" -- and by that I mean work beyond mere conversion to SF2 standards (e.g., adding Userlist.INIs, moving decals to the \Decals folder, etc.). But they are in the end the old models. You can consider these overhauled versions to be placeholders until the new models are released, whenever that might be. Eric Howes
  3. Panama Red: Was the aircraft on which you saw this mismapping the MiG-17F with the VPAFdCamo? Eric Howes
  4. Wrench: The Spoonrest and Flatface are updated in the latest NF4+ update package. I will be including an updated SquarePair in a further forthcoming update. Eric Howes
  5. xclusiv8: The latest update for NF4+ does include an updated avionics.ini with an updated HUD: http://combatace.com/files/file/11300-nato-fighters-iv-post-dec2009-update-pack-2/ Eric Howes
  6. xclusiv8: The latest NF4+ update does distinguish between the MiG-29 & Su-27: http://combatace.com/files/file/11300-nato-fighters-iv-post-dec2009-update-pack-2/ Eric Howes
  7. Coop: For the NF4+ version, make sure you grab the updated files from both the first and second update pack: http://combatace.com/files/file/11099-nato-fighters-4-patch-post-dec-2009-patch-level/ http://combatace.com/files/file/11300-nato-fighters-iv-post-dec2009-update-pack-2/ The NF4+ version of the MiG-25PD does have a working radar as well as the ability to carry the centerline PTB5500 tank. Eric Howes
  8. Folks: Those who are familiar with the story of Lima Site 85 will appreciate this bit of news: Air Force hero's actions in Laos finally recognized after 42 years http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/09/03/medal.of.honor/index.html?hpt=C1 If you're not familiar with the fate of Lima Site 85, start reading here: http://limasite85.us/ Eric Howes
  9. Tomb: Simply remove the 20mmFireEffect.ini from the \Effects directory. That should revert the 20mm fire effect to stock. Eric Howes
  10. Folks: Attached is a small collection of updates for the version of this mod uploaded by Dave on July 26. Included are a corrected F-84F DATA.INI that allows for the manual deployment of flaps on landing and a few customized guns that I forgot to include in the previous update. Edit: Attached file removed. All the bugs fixed in that hotfix collection are fixed in the most recent update to the main mod download. Eric Howes
  11. Tomb: No changes were made to to the F-84F flaps in this update. I now see that you can't manually deploy them (they work on take-off), but that was not a change introduced by this update. I'll look into uploading a fixed version. Seahawks: you are free to use your own SeaHawk DATA.INIs. As for the 20mm gun flash, I don't see what you're seeing -- just tested. These are the same 20mm effects used in several other mods with thousands of downloads and installs. No one has reported that problem. If worse comes to worse, you could simply remove the new effects. Eric Howes
  12. Javigato: Sounds like it wasn't installed correctly. Best thing to do is to start from scratch and reinstall. If you're installing the SF2 version, make sure you're dropping the new files in the mod directory not the game's installation directory. Eric Howes
  13. Jefferson: Not all aircraft from that era had radar. The RF-101C is one of those aircraft. There are other aircraft in the Expansion Pack that lack radar -- many of the VPAF MiGs, for example. Some U.S. aircraft have only gun-ranging radar, such as the F-100D. Still others have only ground-mapping radar, such as the A-4 and A-6. The primary U.S. fighters, though, have air intercept radar: the F-4s and F-8s. There's a tutorial at the 3rdWire forums on using the F-4's radar in conjunction with AIM-7 Sparrows: http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2343 Eric Howes
  14. Hi All: Those of you with an interest in the Vietnam Air War and will find this story of interest -- the Lavelle Affair is finally brought to a close: General dead for 31 years nominated for promotion to clear his record http://www.cnn.com/2...dex.html?hpt=T2 Lavelle, of course, was the Seventh Air Force commander who was hung out to dry after details of an especially aggressive series of "Protective Reaction Strikes" that ran from October of '71 to March of '72 in the run-up to the Eastertide Offensive and Linebacker I came to light. The bitter irony of the whole affair is that not only did Nixon authorize the strikes, but Nixon himself was constantly complaining to advisors about the lack of aggressiveness among Air Force commanders. Yet when Lavelle took Nixon's directives to heart and loosened the rules for Protective Reaction Strikes, the Nixon Administration failed to step forward in his defense after Lavelle was relieved of his command by Air Force brass (because of "irregularities in the conduct of his command") and forced to defend himself before Senate and House sub-committees. Those looking for more details on the Lavelle Affair would be advised to read the following piece by Seymour Hersch (the same journalist who broke the story of the My Lai Massacre): http://www.newyorker...taco_talk_hersh Eric Howes
  15. Stingray77: I don't play with shadows on, so I don't see any misplaced shadows. Eric Howes
  16. Charlie14: I would recommend a clean install. I can't vouch for the results you'll get by just piling on one thing after another. Eric Howes
  17. Charlie14: If you installed through the the latest patch for the Expansion Pack, you should have installed the workaround that was implemented back in January for the trees/clouds issue -- clear tree .TGAs that effectively make the trees disappear from the landscape. Once the trees disappear, you won't see that problem anymore. The clear .TGAs are included in the \Dec2009 folder of the first of the four Expansion Pack download packages. Eric Howes
  18. View File Suez Avenger for WOI - Suez Crisis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TBM-3E Avenger for Wings Over Israel - Suez Crisis ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This is a modification of the TBM-3E released by The Wrench, which is itself a mod of the TBF/TBM Avenger available in the WWII aircraft section at the A-Team Skunkworks web site: http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ This mod creates a TBM-3E Avenger for use in ThirdWire's Wing Over Israel (WOI). Included are French Navy and Royal Navy texture sets. Historical purists & rivet-counters take note: what you're about to read is likely to cause nausea, dizziness, and mild vomiting. Before discussing anything else, let me tell you what's wrong with this mod: 1) It uses the wrong aircraft: the French Naval Air unit participating in the Suez Crisis flew the TBM-3S/W, not the TBM-3E. I don't have access to a TBM-3S/W model, so the TBM-3E it is. 2) It represents the wrong unit: the French Naval Air unit flying the Avenger in the Suez Crisis was 9 Flotilla, not 15 Flotilla. I don't have decals for 9F, so I used the 15F decals from The Mirage Factory's F4U-7 Corsair instead. 3) It flies the wrong missions: the French Avenger was primarily an anti-submarine aircraft. Given that there are no Anti-Sub missions in WOI (and given that flying around over an open ocean for hours at a time would get really old really fast in this game), this Avenger is configured to fly Strike, CAS, and Armed Recon missions like other attack aircraft in the world of ThirdWire. For those of you still with me, let me provide some other information about this mod. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Installation ~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod is NOT a complete, self-contained package. It requires that you download the TBF/TBM Avenger from the A-Team's site (see above for a link). Once you've got that file downloaded, do the following: 1) Unpack the A-Team's TBF/TBM Avenger into its own folder. 2) Copy or move the \Objects & \Sounds folders from this mod (i.e., the Suez Avenger mod) to your WOI installation directory. 3) Copy or move the following items from the A-Team TBF/TBM Avenger to the \Objects\Aircraft\TBM-3E folder in your WOI installation directory: - TBM Avenger-R5.LOD - TBM Avenger-R5.OUT - \Cockpit [the entire folder "as is"] 4. Install the AN/APS-4 Radar Pod data (from ForWeaponData.txt) to your WeaponData.INI and save the changes using the 3rdWire Weapons Editor. That's it. You're ready to fly. Please note that the default unit/skin is the French Navy 15F. I've thrown in Kulbit(80)'s Royal Navy skin as a bonus. This aircraft can be flown reliably on both Hard and Normal flight model settings. This mod produces the same aircraft as the version for SF2I. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Changes & Updates ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This mod makes extensive changes to Wrench's TBM-3E. Here's a short list: - added French Navy 15F texture set - added Kulbit(80)'s Royal Navy texture set - added custom Hangar & Loading screens - added updated Loadout image - tweaked flight model for Hard settings in WOI - tweaked landing gear to fix AI aircraft exploding on the taxiway - removed belly gunner node and gun - performed other minor, misc. tweaks & adjustments Thanks to Wrench and Kulbit(80) for testing and misc. tweaks & fixes. ~~~~~~~ Credits ~~~~~~~ As noted earlier, this is a modification of the TBM-3E released by The Wrench, which is itself a mod of the TBF/TBM Avenger available in the WWII aircraft section at the A-Team Skunkworks web site: http://cplengineeringllc.com/SFP1/ Original aircraft: Dev A-Team (Capun, Charles, Gramps and Kesselbrut) TBM-3E Modifications: Kevin Stein, aka The Wrench AN/APS-4 radar pod: Tim Davis Royal Navy skin: Michal Minta, aka Kulbit(80) 15F decals: The Mirage Factory Please see the \_Docs folder for the original readme files included with the mods listed above. 22. Stingray77: By renaming the decals.ini you're reverting to the stock decals.ini provided in the .CAT files, which means means you're losing the serial numbers on the vertical stab supplied by the Expansion Pack version of the decals.ini. If that's what it takes to fix it, then that's what it takes. I have no other solution to suggest. Eric Howes
  23. Guys: OK, attached is a new ISRAELME_NATIONS.INI and TARGETS.INI. The Cyprus airfields are marked FRIENDLY and assigned to the new Location14=British Cyprus. The cities are still Location=13 and marked Neutral. These should be tested with the modified Suez_DATA.INI that I posted earlier -- the one with Cyprus defined as a Neutral Location. Eric Howes
  24. Wrench: If we leave the all the Cyprus target areas marked Friendly, what are the chances of enemy forces taking the non-airfield Cyprus areas? If there is a significant risk of that happening, why not create a Location14 in the Nations.ini, label it "British Cyprus," assign the airfields to that location, and leave the remaining two Cyprus target areas as Neutral? Any potential problems with that arrangement? Eric Howes
  25. Tomb: I'd suggest you peruse the Knowledge Base for information of weapons and loadouts. Eric Howes
