  1. Wow, a CAN-AM mod. Guess I'll have to dust off my copy of GPL. Wasn't there a TRANS-AM mod for either GTL or GPL, covering the '69-'73 seasons?
  2. After days of careful deliberation, we've come to the conclusion that we can do quite well as is, without hosting files, as we've determined that people come here mainly for the stimulating conversation.....NOT! We're still in the process of revamping the site. Rest assured, the downloads section will be up, ASAP.
  3. Of course. You simply have to script your own, and load them.
  4. If you encounter an issue where you're seeing alpha objects (trees) flickering through clouds, apply this quick and easy fix. open up your environment system file (it may need to be extracted from the flightdata.cat), scroll down to the cloud material entries, and perform the following edit: TextureStage[01].MipMap=FALSE edit to read TextureStage[01].MipMap=TRUE Directly underneath it, add the following line: TextureStage[01].MipMapLevels=6 This fix was tested with Stary's GreenHell2, Cellinsky's Widesky mod, and with the DetailMeshSize set to "16" (in the flightengine.ini file).
  5. Dave (USAFMTL) has a GTX 285, and Brain32 runs an HD 4870, so you can ask them.
  6. Easy now, Dave Le May.....
  7. Slightly off-topic: I once heard an interesting point made, during a debate. And that was, that JFK's fiscal and foreign policy, would be considered 'conservative', by today's standards. Point 1: During the late 1940s, and into the Eisenhower Administration, any income over $100,000 was taxed at what today, would be considered a confiscatory rate, over 70%. JFK lowered that rate, and in fact, lowered all income tax rates, across the board (though the actual cuts were signed into law by LBJ, in 1964). Point 2: Kennedy was quite hawkish in his foreign policy. He was all for the overthrow of Castro (I'm sure you've all heard the stories), and was considered a staunch anti-communist, as was his brother, Robert.
  8. 1) You extract the A-6 'pit and all its necessary files, and with a little editing, you'll have a flyable A-6 in SF2V 2) It's easily more future proof than WoV. 3) The avionics and cockpits alone are worth the price of admission. The flight models are essentially the same that were intro'd in the September '08 patch. Some additional eye-candy was also added to the mix (afterburner effects, material shaders, etc).
  9. MCOU....... Mandatory Change Of Underwear
  10. I'd venture to say a camera mounted on the Fansong that was guiding the SA-2. I have another one of a ballistic SA-2 over Kep, where the sustainer had burned out. It almost appeared to be flying in formation with the AC that took it Both those images are from "First in, Last Out: Stories by the Wild Weasels" , which I'm currently reading. I'll post a review of it, as soon as I finish it. Though be warned, that damned book is as thick as the NYC Yellow Pages
  11. I'll go out on a limb, and say that, to the best of my knowledge, neither KMD nor LeMissonaire officially support SF2.
  12. Here's an idea for you. Zip the mission file up, and attach it to your post. That way, somebody might be able to take a look at it, and provide you with a definitive answer, as opposed to just taking a WAG (which probably wouldn't be of much help).
  13. The site's closed, AFAIK.
  14. Yes I'm planning on releasing it with two effects levels: Fast (for low-end systems) and high-detail, for mid/high-end systems.
  15. Run your settings globally. At 1680 x 1050 res, I run: All in-game settings maxed out, with the exception of lens flare (off) and horizon distance (normal). Horizon distance is a far greater FPS killer than shadows and reflections combined. 4X Multimsample AA (Supersampling does nothing but eat FPS in this series) 8X Aniso Vert Synch=off TextureFiltering=High Quality Trilinear Optimization-on Aniso Sample Optimization=on Negative LOD BIAS=clamp Prerender Limit=3 (set it higher, to 4 or 5, if you're averaging below 30 FPS) Force mip maps=on System specs = Intel C2D E8400 @ 3.6 gHz, EVGA GTS 250 1024 mb video card, 4 gb RAM.
  16. From Thirwire's site: ===================================== Strike Fighters: Project 1 / Oct 2008 Readme File ===================================== ----------------- Table of Contents ----------------- 1. Update Notes 2. Troubleshooting 3. Contacting Customer Support --------------- 1. Update Notes --------------- This Update contains all the fixes from previous patches, and it can be applied to any version of the game. Earlier patches do not need to be applied. This Update also raises the mimimum system requirement for the game to the following: OS: Windows 2000/XP Processor: 1.0 GHz Memory: 1.0 GB RAM Hard Drive: 850 MB free space Video Card: 128 MB DirectX 9.0c

  18. That's a really intelligent statement. Let' see, one can see the horizontal stabs right where they join the vert stabs, but they can't see 1.5+ meter diameter engine nacelles sitting in front and above them? And you're forming this opinion based on the distorted views of a flight simulator of questionable authenticity? Ya think you'd miss these from the pit? Besides, a former A-10 and F-4 driver's no further away than my Outlook address book.
  19. I'll release this as soon as I hear back from my "beta" testers It's FPS friendly (actually gained like 10 FPS over stock, during a multiple launch from the various sites in and around Haiphong).
  20. Yes, install the latest DirectX user runtime (Dated March 2009).
  21. TW default LOD files reside inside the various objectX.cat files. You don't need to extract them, you simply need to place the texture files (or whatever) in the corresponding A-4 folders. And, BTW, Default SF2-series LODs are in unicode, and are therefore not backwards compatible with first gen (SF:P1-based) titles...that means anything up to and including WoI.
  22. LODs and texture-mapping are different, on just about all SF2-series aircraft models (when compared to their SF:P1-derived counterparts). TK has also expanded the model line-up to include new variants.
  23. Happy Birthday, Bibbo. 20 years old? Sheesh......I recall waking up early on my 20th, and having breakfast at a local pancake house... I had to fortify my stomach against the onslaught of booze that I just knew was sure to follow later that day, when my friends realized that I had reached that milestone
  24. Another thing, this WILL DAMAGE EXISTING UNICODE files. Good thing that I backed my stuff up.
