  1. Thanks, guys....another year has passed
  2. Well, that's what you get when you mix and match tiles. Sorry, but there's really not much that you can do,short of deleting all the addon tiles, and letting the game-engine use its default set (or installing an entire tileset, such as Brain32's).
  3. The structural factor on the TW F-105 is set at 2.5. Keep in mind that F-105s were known to return back to their bases in Thailand (some 400+ miles from N.Vietnam), with incredible amounts of battle damage (3 foot holes in wings, etc). One F-105 landed with both an AA-2 stuck in its tail, and exhaust nozzles that had been shredded by AAA fire. The Thud was a tough airplane. Then again, the same could be said for the P-47, F-84, and the A-10.....
  4. All that information is out there, if you're willing to look for it. Check the dogfighting and bombing tutorials that Andy Bush wrote, at SimHQ. StreakEagle wrote a tutorial on how to use radar in A2A combat....you'll find that one at ThirdWire's site.
  5. First, it appears as if you have a mishmash of different tile-sets (and you're missing a couple of tiles, hence the blank areas), and there's no telling which VietnamSEA_data.ini you're running. Is this WoV, or is this SF2V?
  6. Perhaps EZlead might recognize them..... They belong to the same unit, in different modes. A.wav B.wav
  7. No, it's not silly. Back during the Soviet era, quite a few of their ships were built in Polish shipyards.
  8. But they must all beware the insidious LAtViaN maFIa!!!!111!!!!!
  9. The F-105 had a frontal RCS factor of 0.70-0.75, making it appear roughly the size of an A-4. The early (non-spined) MiG-21 had a frontal RCS factor of 0.77, making it appear about the size of Cessna.
  10. Not really. The MiG-17, for example, had a very effective (read that as "accurate") radar-ranging gunsight. It operated on a frequency normally used by AAA radars, therefore, it used to trip the "AAA" warning light on most Western fighters.
  11. Yes, you could use models (lod files) in place of alpha objrcts (tod files). That is, if you don't mind simming at what would amount to Power-Point presentation frame rates.
  12. Then the latest version is inexcusably inaccurate, as it doesn't take much effort to make them work as they should, nor to suitably place them on a map.
  13. Brain, I've never seen, nor used, a Hawk launcher that also had a radar. Also, a typical US Army Hawk deployment is six launchers.
  14. I believe that you can, but you must set up the install accordingly. I'll elaborate. I have all three of Third Wire's second gen titles. You're probably aware that if you install them in order, every successive title merges with it's predecessors. Every title also creates it's own sub-folder within the main mod folder. Every sub folder contains the full planest (SF2, SF2V, SF2E). Now, one normally runs the whole mess off of the first game's .exe file, and therefore has access to all terrains and eras.....well, I've deleted all the unnecessary objects (including aircraft) from my SF2V sub folder. I've also created my own VietnamSEA_nations.ini, with limited nations (but to which I've also added the Khmer-Rouge and Pathet-Lao). In order to use all this...you have to run SF2V as a standalone, using it's own .exe (and not the SF2.rxe). Despite being a standalone, it still resides within the same folder structure as the other titles.
  15. I'm sure that you'll enjoy Ed Rasimus's books. I've actually corresponded with him...he's real down-to-earth.
  16. The SA-10 (S-300) has been in game now for at least half a year.
  17. At this point, GrViper, I'm almost halfway through "First in, Last out". Having read that much, I feel condident enough to recommend it. It strikes a nice balance; it's chapters alternating between the technical, logistical, and tactical side of things.
  18. F-4B over N.Vietnam, 1966
  19. Maybe
  20. Dave, Remember the video I uploaded for Wrench? What does this remind you of?
  21. There's a trick to that.... First, you hand Sparko a bottle of Night Train, wait until he polishes it off, and then, you present him with a jackass...just tell him it's really a pony...he'll believe you
  22. I've just been informed that Dave has taken the entire downloads section hostage. He's reportedly barricaded himself in a broom closet, inside of hanger 18 (at WPAFB), and is working on a list of demands.... more news to follow....
  23. An hour? A week? A month? A year?
