That's what's weird. I had a merged install, but this is a WOV only install. All the other menu's and screens seem to be the correct WOV ones, it's just this one that's messed up. Is the default WOV screen up in the downloads section? I don't even know if I know what it looks like... *edit* - and now that I think about it, I did a fresh WOV install last night for the Korean war mod, and I'm still getting the WOE loading screen. Maybe it's from the patch...? *editII* -hold on here folks. Does the default loading screen come from the menu folder, or the flight folder? I just downloaded a loading screen from wrench's site, and it says to place it in the flight folder. This would make sense, because I've been copying my flight folder from one install to another, since I have weather mods, HUDdata.ini mods, and comms mods that I don't want to install over and over again. I didn't thinkg there was anything game specific in that folder, so I thought that wouldn't be a big deal. If the loading screen is in a CAT file in there somewhere, that would explain the issue I'm having!

This is an easy one. For some reason, my WOV install uses the default WOE loading screen (the F-15) whenever missions are loading. I downloaded some of the loading screen packs from the download section, but they're all set up for specific aircraft. If I want to use one of those BMP's as the default loading screen for all aircraft: 1. What do I name it? 2. Where does it go? Thanks!

OT - but I think you meant B-17...

Someone posted about the same issue a couple days ago. The answer was that this is a known issue with the TW series. Once you drop all ordinance, the aircraft tend to want to roll to one side. The way you can get around this is to allow aircraft "trimming". Go to your controls folder and open the .ini file for your control profile. there is a value somewhere that corresponds to the rate at which control surfaces return to neutral when using the arrow keys. If you set this to 0, using the arrow keys acts as a trim now. There is also a value that defines the sensitivity of the arrow keys, and you'll want to lower this (to like, .25, I think...) to allow changes in smaller increments. Sorry I can't be more specific right now, but I don't have my game folder on this laptop, and I can't remember all the details. But if you go into the .ini file, you should be able to figure it out.

Ah... thanks. I didn't know it was hidden in another .ini file. :D

Don't know about #3, but if you go into the aircraft's cockpit.ini file, the ripple quantities are defined in the first section. You can add more/delete some as you wish. As far as random ripple intervals, I doubt that would be a setting in RL. It must be a WOI thing only, since I've never seen that in WOE or WOV.

Awesome mod! It really looks a lot like the smoke trails from the movie Dark Blue World. Very WWII-ish. Do you happen to know which CAT file the tracersmokeemitter.ini file resides in? I wanted to try and get the illumination effect without the prominent smoke trails.
-
Ah... I see it now. That would be awesome! It will go great with the Green Hell mod during night missions.

Instead of removing chaff/flares and lowering soviet missile accuracy, why don't you just leave the chaffs and flares alone and increase the accuracy and tracking strength of the soviet missiles? Also, do you have any of the weps packs installed? I think they might make adjustments to the soviet missiles. I never fly red, though, so I'm not totally sure.

Hmmm. That makes a lot of sense. I haven't really tried that at all. I'm going to give it a try next time!

I've been playing F4AF since last September, and have still not figured out how to perform intediction, and CAS missions without labels on. There is just way too much clutter on the radar scope, and even if I lock something up, I have no idea what it is. One of the things I'm thinking of trying is to carry a maverick or LGB on every CAS and interdiction mission, so I can use the image to hopefully identify the target...

Hey all, I was trying to copy a Third Wire game folder to back it up, and I got the message that one of the files couldn't be copied because it was corrupted. Did some investigating and found that a lod file was corrupt, and when I try to move or delete it, I'm told that it has an invalid directory or filename. I was able to rename it, and reinstall the file, so everything should work fine. However, when researching how to delete the corrupt file, I found that the only solution may be to reformat the entire drive! This is something I really don't want to do right now. Chkdsk and Safe Mode were not able to help me delete the file. So, now I have some questions: 1. Are there any other options for getting rid of the file other than reformatting the drive? 2. Do I need to be concerned about the corrupt file? It's totally renamed, so the game should run OK, right? Is there any reason for me to need to delete the file? Or can I just let it be? Thanks!

I have a MacBook with 2.4 ghz dual core, 2 GB RAM, and an Intel GMA 965. I run with a combination of High and Medium settings and mirrors on. The newer drivers for my graphics chip cause some weird issues, but as long as I stay rolled back to the original one, it works fine.

Check out this thread, as I had the same issue: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=28079&hl Boils down to needing to change landing difficulty to easy, IIRC.

Good! I'm glad you got it worked out. This mod is a real blast.

See the above posts regarding the .CAT file pointers. You may want to look in the Knowledgebase as well.

So, I've had the weps pack installed pretty much since I started playing WOE. I'm also like 90% sure that I played through most of a RAF Harrier GR3 campaign, and that I had all the appropriate weps. However, I just went to start up a new one (I deleted my saved campaigns, for another reason...), and there were no weps available in the loadout screen. I checked the campaign data.ini file, and found none of the RAF weapons listed existed in the weapons data file. So I fixed the starting weps supply for all the RAF squadrons by adding the correct weapons, but what's driving me nuts is that I could swear I played a campaign before and didn't have this issue. I did a fresh install of the weps pack in a separate folder, and confirmed that the missing weapons don't exist in the weps back (UK500LB, Matra-155, etc...). So am I smoking crack in thinking that I played through a RAF Red Lightning campaign before without having updated the weps supplies? The KB thread talks about updating loadouts and aircraft data, but I don't ever remember seeing anything about updating campaigns...

I've never had a carrier actually vanish. They can be hard to find sometimes, though. Did you get a vector to homeplate from Red Crown and follow that?

Difference between "explosives=__" and "clusterbomblets=___"
malibu43 replied to malibu43's topic in General Discussion
OK, that makes sense. Does anyone know if it's accurate for the rockeye and CBU-59 have such lower values than the rest of the cluster bombs? I always thought rockeyes packed a more powerful punch... -
Cluster bombs in the weps pack have both these entries, and was wondering what the difference is. [WeaponData143] TypeName=Rockeye ... Explosives=100.000000 FusingDistance=100.000000 ClusterBomblets=247 ClusterDispersion=0.500000 ... [WeaponData144] TypeName=CBU-24B ... Explosives=269.399994 FusingDistance=150.000000 ClusterBomblets=665 ClusterDispersion=0.500000 ... Thanks!

Yeah... that's what I thought. Maybe it will be fixed in the next patch. ...not that that is one of the high priorities...

A while back, I tried to assign a key to deselect visual target, and I don't seem to remember it working. Does anyone know if this command works? Maybe I was doing something wrong...?

Question about adding air units to Red Lightning

Ah... Did not know that little tidbit of info. That will be good to know. Thanks all! -
Question about adding air units to Red Lightning
malibu43 replied to malibu43's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Actually, one more question while we're at. Do all the air units need to have different squadrons? In other words, what happens if I have to units with the same "squadron=__"? Thanks! -
Question about adding air units to Red Lightning
malibu43 replied to malibu43's topic in Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Ahhh... I think I get it. Basically, the unit ID isn't just the whatever nth air unit you want to use, but it needs to be the nth air unit with ForceID=1... Thanks!
