AC-130J Version 1.0
Spectre_USA replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Very friggin' cool! I love the modernized `pit, and added sight. It is a real bear to make hits with, but I'm thinking a little practice will help. Many thanks, Dels! -

Copy Dave's response, paste it below. I have the worst luck with taking up a gaggle, I mean I love the idea of having built in CAP and SEAD, but the folks on the fringes just don't listen. The last one of those I tried I had 3 "I'm taking damage" reports in a row. Paused, looked, and 1 got a SAM, another tried to pistol whip a Zeus, and the last bore in with guns on a tail-gunned transport. Almost half the flight in like 3 seconds. So I take a wingie, let him take his shot, and clean up if he misses, which is all too frequently. With all the enemy AI improvements, the friendly AI seems to have been dumbed down even more than it was...

A big plus 1 to that! I gave it a go on the range and it worked wunnerfully! Low level all the way, speed of heat, hair on fire, balutes and snakes. Component parts galore! I just wish the army folks in my current Strike Eagle campaign would get a move on! I am at March 15th, and have pounded most. I want to start an F-111F campaign, but like to complete them 1st. Re-adjusting to a jet suxx0rs, IMHO. Many thanks for the tweaks, Xiphos, what you made sound simple, I would have botched badly, trust me...

I'd say about an 85-15% ratio, mud-movin' to Air 2 Air. So the majority of the time it is making history, but then I get an itch to load up for air 2 air bear and swat some MiG's. The Typhoon has a seductive call for the latter, as you can load it to the gills and wipe out half of an enemies air force in one swell foop! -
Seconds From Impact

I got lucky during beta testing of SF:P1 and caught a MiG-21 catching a missile, very much like yours, but the actual millisecond the missile detonated. The pieces/parts were all in formation, just a tad or 3 out of place, and the shock wave was visible. I named it, for an article I wrote, Wingman go Bo-O-om! -
Tornado F.3

Speaking of canopies, does this one open? I looked through the data.ini, and tried my animation keys, to no avail. Even tried hook, but there really is one! -
I am fairly confident that is true, yes. But I am sure Eightlein or ZeroCinco of the "YAP Team" will be along shortly to confirm or deny. I am unsure as to the "2" part, if it indicates a compilation, other tweaks, or what. The site is excellent, but doesn't go into much detail as to what comes with...

Tornado F.3

I didn't have too hard of a time in a 4(us) vs 8(them) tussle. Of course they decided to show up to a missile fights with guns only. Their Iraqi counterparts fared better in the next tussle, a 2(us) vesus 8(them) dealio with Mirages. We whittled `em down to an even pairing thusly; We got the call of inbounds, and we ere off! Skyflashes halve the bomb-laden bunch, then we mixed it up in close. When we were down to 2 left, they had abandoned all hope of hitting their targets, and I got hit with a heater as I was trying to out-distance them in the weeds. My wingie was the only one to make it home to apply the thrust reversers. Very cool piece of kit. I am especially impressed with the PDF file with screenies and history written over them. This one is going into my next ODS campaign, as it will only be a slight twist of reality, saying they got their IFF transponders in time. And with the CA version, and all the opposition, they will be needed! -
DS Mod Goodies

I am on the 14th of March, 1991 in my campaign, flying Strike Eagles. It was very cool seeing all the Alliance armored units "light up" on the 24th of Feb, and start heading in, like was done historically. Prior to this it was hitting airfields over and over, also like the real deal. Since the ground war kick-off, the missions have been mud-moving magnificence! Little to no air opposition, unless you count the SAMs and AAA, which I certainly do. Too bad TK's troops are as good as the real guys were. It just re-inforces how amazing those guys were, back in the day... -
Ooo, cool, `Vark questions, I can do that. I was an F-111 weapons crew chief in `91, during Desert Storm. Sure enough, F-111F's invented "tank plinking," but the term was frowned upon as not being PC. There were people in those tanks, and the PC crowd thought it was insensitive. Boo-flibbin' hoo, I said, it's a war. As to the 5,000 lb. 20 foot long LGB, that was the GBU-28 bunker buster. The quickest turn around for a weapons system from idea to delivery in the history of the USAF, to that point in time. Brought to you by the 431st Test & Evalution Squadron, McClellan AFB, Ca. Home wing was the 57th Fighter Weapons Wing, out on Nellis AFB, NV. Here is the 1st test shape loaded on 0186, which I loaded. It was a shape in as it did not have any explosives, it was filled with cement. It was made to be dropped from 40,000' and penetrate 100' of sand, then cement, before detonating. This test object did just that, guided by the F-111F's bay mounted Pave Tack pod, and went past the 100 foot sensors, so they said "ship it!" We were told by our newly incoming wing king that it was a shame we didn't get to use it. A week later the news hit the streets that it was used, by Lakenheath jets. Twice. A week after that, they announced the disbanding of the squadron. in July 1992, the 431st TES ceased to be. The same day I got out... ___EDIT___ Darn, sorry, was on a tangent. In game, you really NEED the snakes, of BSU's, to do the job right in an Aardvark. Go to the Desert_Storm.ini and find the F-111F. Scroll down and find the lines that read; Supply[010].WeaponType=CBU-89 Supply[010].Quantity=600 Substitute as uch; Supply[010].WeaponType=Mk82SE Supply[010].Quantity=600 Or add a line, like the above, with the next number in sequence. I do see the BSU's there, so they will due. They are actually newer than the snakes, and use a parachute instead of the metal petals. I do like the latter better, as they look so purdy before they blow things the heck up!

ODS static aircraft
Spectre_USA replied to rovert97's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hrrmmm... I have ground objectrs on high, and except for the odd heavy or two in my 1st campaign, I got nuthin'. Latest patch on WoE before installing ODS. I just ratcheted it up to unlimited to see if that makes a difference. After flying WoI for so long, and having jets on the ramps, it seems so sterile without `em... -
