until a while back, workers at the coors brewery in golden colorado were allowed to drink beer at lunch, until some meathead wrecked a company truck, and in trying to be politically correct, the management banned the practice,

First off, I would like to thank everyone for actually discussing this in a calm and rational fashion. Secondly, Id like to thank Dave and Erik and the other owners/admins for allowing this thread to remain open. (so far) Open discussion is not only usefull, it is necessary in an open and free society such as ours. We just need to keep things civil and not allow our passion for our beliefs to override common sense. With that being said, I would like to remind everyone,I DO NOT WHINE, I BITCH, and I do it loudly,(which can at times get me in trouble, and I own up to that 100%) Also, you need not remind me that there are people in combat zones doing a job that is quite deadly, that Im not doing, my father died in viet nam while serving with the 1st air cav so I am quite aware of this. And this video being shot from a chopper kinda hits a little closer to home, ya know? I can understand how a veteran or someone activly serving can immediatly take offense to any percieved "attack" on them or fellow servicemen, hell, its what you were trained to do. But we are the United States of America, we Must be better than the rest, we MUST be more professional than the other guys as leaders of the free world. As my father used to say to me,"Perfect will be close enough, son." Once again, I would like to offer my thanks to all members here activly serving and to those who are retired military, I am forever indebted to you. In conclusion, Id like to say just one thing, and I know you already know this, but there are lives at stake, friendly, foe and non combatant, the taking of any of those can not be done lightly, these decisions are final. Thank you for listening.

a few lines to a song come to mind,, Go ahead, hate your neighbor, go ahead and cheat a friend, Do it in the name of heaven, You can justify it in the end. BUT THERE WONT BE ANY TRUMPETS BLOWING COME THE JUDGEMENT DAY, I hope the meaning isnt lost on the folks here from other cultures, and I hope all can detect the true meaning of the words to the song, my condolences to all who lost family members,

Well, it seems a lot of people join up JUST for the education or the G.I. bill, which seems a bit selfish, knoiw what I meen? and on another note, I REALLY feel we are taking WAY too long getting the job done in the middle east, I hate to see our troops squandered, especially if my nephew turns out to be one of them. Thanks for asking, Dave, I appreciate it.

Well, my nephew goes off to basic tomorrow morning, to Ft. leonard wood, then to Ft. wa-choo-ka (phoenetic spelling) in Arizona. I guess hes going for army intelligence (insert joke here). Kinda mixed feelings on my part, but I'll keep that to myself, not goin political here. I never served, but was an army brat for 10 years, so I learned a few things about the army, so the advice I gave him was; 1)Never have or give an excuse, always have a reason. 2)If an officer or you D.I. ask what the fook you are doin in his army, you say "whatever you order me to do, SIR." 3)Perfect will be close enough. 4)Know your enemy and always respect him as a warrior, he is just like you deep down inside, THEN kill him. 5) bottom line is kill or be killed, wether you be a general issue bullet catcher, or a mess cook, 6) war is very ugly, always train for it, but pray you never see it. Apparently he was told if he has some kinda civic achievements hes garunteed another stripe after basic, besides the pfc thing, I never heard of that, someone fill me in please, on that note he joined the masons and has already been made a 3rd degree, the youngest in california, the lodge is very proud.

13870 days, 332880 hours, 19972800 minutes, 1198368000 seconds, They all roughly equal 38 years, longer than a good part of you who read this have been alive. Now, imagine spending that time with your arms tied behind you , your elbows touching and being lifted off the floor by your wrists and hung there, indefinatly. Or spending it in a three foot square by four foot long "tiger cage" made of bamboo in the middle of a steaming jungle. Or in a cold damp concrete cell, shackled to your cot as a rat attempts to make dinner of your toes. As the years go by, it is doubtfull that many, if any at all P.O.W's of the viet nam era are alive. Most definatly the family members hold onto hope of them being alive, I guess its mandatory. If the cosmic powers that be are at all mercifull, Lt. Dennis Stanley Pike, U.S.N. was killed shortly after his capture in Laos after ejecting from his A-7, I only say that, because I would not wish 38 years of this on anyone. Please remember those that are P.O.W. and M.I.A. , urge your congressman, your senator, your governer, your mayor to make those in power to do something about those unaccounted for, our warriors deserve better. And on march 23rd, have a drink in Lt. Pikes honor and send a thought his way. Ive worn the bracelet with his name on it since late 72, it was randomly issued. Over the years, Ive come to know him. Thank you for your time. And once again, thanks to comrpnt for the excellent mission file he made for me http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=8217

I grew up in an era devoid of all the rules, regulations, warnings, disclaimers, etc that plague us today, I sat on dads lap and "drove" the family car, went boating without a lifejacket, rode a bike without a helmet, went swimming before waiting an hour after eating. Its a wonder Im alive, huh? (for those of you that dont know me, thats sarcasm)
