First, spell my name correct. Second, the signature under the first post shows, that you has edited it 4 days after my first reply. And you has changed it completly. You has removed all screenshots and descriptions of your terrain and included the readme of my Midway terrain from 2009. Third. Using big letters in a forum means shouting.

Dave, if he would use the search function first, before start a new project, then he would find, that something is already available. If he find, the existing terrain could be better, and he wants to make a new one, then it is okay. But only if he dont use the same name as the already existing terrain. Its confusing to have files with the same designation. If he would call it "Midway made by STWA" or "Battle of Britain 1960 of STWA" then it would be okay. But not with the same names. And it is also not okay, if he delete his first post here and write something complete different instead. This is fudge. My 2 cts.

Clausewitz definitions: "War is an act of violence with whom we try to force the enemy to accept our will." The aim of war is the victory. "We achieve the victory if the enemy is accepting our will or he has nothing left to resist our will." Written in the book "Vom Kriege" in 1830. Following this definitions we must ask. Does the enemy (Talibans) accept our will? The answer is no. Does the Taliban have resources to fight and resist our will? The answer is yes. The conclusion: Whatever will tell us our politicians, we dont have won. We lost. Why? Back to von Clausewitz: "To achieve the victory it is neccessary to to fight with all means and methods while stretching all powers. If not you will lose." Or with other words "do the thing right or let it be". Does the west used all means and methods? Does he used all of his mighty power? No. And why not? Because our politicans believe the definition of war is an other word of Clausewitz: "War is the continuation of politics by other means." What means, that they believe they can make war like politics. No real idea, no real intention, no real target. They try to muddle up, try to bumble. Send out much to less troops, sent out much to less power and have no idea what should come after the first easy days. And so the western states (and i include the USSR here) does not really won all the wars after 1945. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Libya. Hollywood tells us, we were victorious. But look at the map. Everywhere only wasted lifes of soldiers, who died for nothing.

Good news, Wrench. An Africa Corps vs Desert Rats map with new models of planes, based on FE would be awesome. I ask myself, wheter i should make a First Eagles version of my old BoB terrain? Could become a nice thing too. By the way, has someone tested my files with FE2? Does it run under FE2?

Does it work on your computer?

Here it comes: First Eagles WW2.zip I took all files i have modified in First Eagles and put in in this little package. (I hope that i have found all so far.) The only thing you must do is to extract this files in a First Eagles installation. I suggest, that you make a special install for WW2 amd call the new gamefolder "First Eagles WW2". After unzip my files in you FE WW2 installation you must still copy the speechfiles from WoX in the speech folder of FE WW2. The nations.ini which i use is a modified WoE file. I know, that it cause some anomalies in debriefing screen. This has still to be solved. Perhaps i must take an original FE nations ini and modify it. There is something to do. Be aware, this mod is for First Eagles first generation. I have no FE2, thatswhy i cant tell you, wheter it will run with FE2. First Eagles WW2.zip

For me is FE the better basic game for a WW2 sim, because we have a much better terrain solution from stock. A tile is 500x500 meters wide, while SF works with 2000x2000 meters. So a much more different looking world can be created. I have seen Geezers work and i think it looks awesome. But he use the way completly in the different direction. He moves from FE to SF. For me FE is the better prop plane sim. Its only a feeling. Lets see.

I had always the feeling, that prop planes are not really good placed in WoX or SF2 world. This sims are more focused on jet fight. For prop planes, i think First Eagles is the better choice. The WW2 planes lods and skins were not the problems. There are a lot, which are looking very good, but with the FM it was different. Since we have "official" released FM of the P-51D, the Spifire and the S-99 in WoI Op Kadesh and SF2 world, it was possible to make more realistic FM for other fighters. I used the S-99 FM as basic for the Me-109E. The S-99 is a czech made Me-109G, so that only minor changes were neccessary. The similar way was to use TK's Spitfire 9 FM to model the Spitfire IA or IIA FM. The planes are full operational in First Eagles. The only trick was to copy the controls settings of WoE to FE. So the gears can be moved in and out, the flaps can be set and so on. Then only some changes in the speech system, messagesystem etc and FE has the communication comfort of WoE. Here some screenshots. This is all on TKs stock Verdun terrain. I dont know, wheter such mods are also possible with FE2, but with FE there are no problems.

Carrier Gorbachev
Gepard replied to dsawan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Would the US Navy give the name Jimmy Carter to a carrier? I dont think so. -
You must use the weaponeditor too. Alone to place the weapondata.ini makes the new weapons not workable. -Download the weaponeditor -run the weapon editor in compatibility mode for windows95 or ME -open file weapondata.ini with weaponeditor -press button "save" -then press button "close" run the game and enjoy the new weapons. By the way, there is a knowledgebase here in this forum. Its a good place to find the most answers for modding the game.

Battle of Britain 1960
Gepard replied to Stwa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you do this, you will lose a lot of targets. Perhaps it is neccessary if you want to make SF2 terrains compatible with WoX, but for terrains, which are written for WoX you dont need this step. By the way, i made a little campaign for that terrain. Its called France vs UK. For the case that MiG bashing with the Hunter had become boring for you, then you can try to defend old England against Oragans and Mysteres. Or you can play it for the "Grand Nation" and try to escort Vatours to London and back. http://combatace.com/files/file/10278-france-vs-uk-campaign/ -

A F404 without afterburner would fit in the Skyhawk fuselage.
