Em. Right and wrong. North Korea is important for China, because it is a buffer state. It is not in chinese interest, that american soldiers are standing at the Yalu river. Thatswhy they will back up the Kims as long as possible. On the other hand there is no peace treaty between North and South Korea. Technically spoken they are still in war, and the USA is also seen as a "war party" by the north koreans. Personally i think, that a peace treaty would be the best solution. It would end the war status and it would give the North Korean leaders the amount of safety they want, and vice versa for South Korea. At the moment the armies of both sides are in high alert. The south korean Navy held yesterday a naval exercise close to the island yon...something. It is more than possible, that a north korean officer felt threaten by the exercise and opend the fire. It reminds me to the NATO autumn exercise seria 1983, when the NATO troops advanced toward east and the soviets misinterpreted the exercise "Able Archer" as a real countdown for WW3.

F-20C TigerShark
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
As Silverbolt already said, you must download the F-20A in the 3 party mods, not the static F-20. The static F-20 would be funny. -
Who is ratteling with the sabre is not really willing to draw the sabre. I dont know, what the mad Kims are doing, and why, but a beginning of a war looks different from the action of yesterday.

This was only possible, because the SR-71 was forced to use a very small flight corridor between sweden and the GDR or Poland. When the SR-71 flew in the MiG-25 at Ribnitz Damgarten and ... (damn, forgot the name of the base, perhaps Finow, not sure)were alarmed and took off to intercept the Blackbird on their way home. In the small flight corridor it was possible that the ground controllers directed the 25 close to the Blackbird. At no other area of the world the MiG-25 was able to catch a SR-71. Especially in the Murmansk area the MiG-25 never saw a Blackbird. The MiG-31 had a little bit more success. Their pilots reported, that they very often had seen the contrails of the Blackbird, but never the plane itself.

When i made my 10 new airbases for WOE i made a special test terrain. Only one red airfield and only one blue airfield. So i was sure always to take of from the correct airfield and no somewhere in the Pampa. The most time consuming steps i found was the puzzling of the single parts together to get the airbase. After each singel set object i made a testflight only to see wheter the objects are at the correct place. If you set more objects it is difficult to find out which object is placed wrong and which correct. The light problem is not as big as you think. Military airfields have in wartime only few lights on. One line at the one side of the runway and one of the other. If i remember right it were only 7 or 8 lights neccessary. If you want to make a civil airfield with full lights, then i agree with you, that you has a problem. Take my 10 new airbases for WOE as example for airfield building. If you need help, send me a PM.

The very old European Air War is still on my computer and sometimes i still play it. The graphic is outdated, thats true, but the old feeling of mass battles is great.

Was a typo. HideGearNode=FALSE instead HideGearNode=TRUE at the right main gear. Corrected it and all is fine now. -

Here the asked screenshot. Its a strange behaviour of the B-1B. If i take off the gears went in perfectly. If i use the ALT+N button and take then an outside view the right main gear is not fully retracted. Its the B-1B_92 model. -

IAI MiG-2000
Gepard replied to hynkel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The cockpit i used in the F-20 TigerShark is basically the F-15A cockpit, because it is the one of the stock cockpits, which has the closest look of the F-20 Cockpit. So it is a mod of the F-15 cockpit. No cockpit lod file is included in the F-20, so it can only used in WOE or WOI. The HUD itself is new. I have designed it by using pictures of the real F-20 HUD. The radarscreen is also new in parts. -

Use the cockpit of the F-111 or the B-1B. For afterburner open the data.ini look for AfterburnerEmitter3 change into AfterburnerEmitter2. For sound look for [sound] EngineSoundName=B-1Bidle_3 AfterburnerSoundName=B-1BAB_1 change into [sound] EngineSoundName=JetEngine AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner -

Not exactly. From the beginning the plane was intended as Tu-26. But in the time when it was developed there were SALT and START negogiantions between the USSR and the US. There was an agreement, that no new medium range nuclear capable bombers should be developed. So the soviet made the trick to say, okay, this is not a new bird, its only an improved version of an excisting plane.
