  1. This is a reliable source. The data he gives are from 2.10.1990, also the last day of LSK/LV. In June 1989 the data were as i wrote in my post above. There were if i remember right 2 losses of L-39 and a MiG-23ML in 1990.
  2. Ace, astonished me a little bit. I have this F-16B Netz from combatace downloadsection.

  4. You must be a little bit carefull with the term Flieger. Its the old german word for pilot. All flying personal was called Flieger. When a man was called a Flieger, it must not mean his military rank. Also v.Richthofen was a Flieger.
  5. Ehm, guys, the site Warsaw Pact Order of Battle - June 1989: http://www.scribd.co...attle-June-1989 is full of nonsense. I dont know where the knowledge comes, but its more a talesbook than a seriouse source. I tried to read this source. There are a lot of misspellings, like Weimer and Rudelstadt. Correct it must be Weimar and Rudolstadt. But this is not so important. More important are wrong data. For instance: GDR Air Force (LSK/LV) This is written in the source: 1. 1st Air Defense Division Cottbus, GDR a. 4 Fighter Regiments: 45 MIG29, 90 MIG23, 45 MIG21 (45 per regiment) b. 1 FighterBomber Regiment: 30 MIG27, 15 SU25 c. 1 Recon Squadron: 18 MIG21RF 2. 3rd Air Defense Division Trollenhagen, GDR a. 2 Fighter Regiments: 45 MIG23, 45 MIG21 (45 per regiment) b. 1 FighterBomber Regiment: 30 MIG27, 15 SU22 Correct would be: 1 sqd at Peenemünde 10 MiG-23MF 30 MiG-23ML (JG-9 H-Rau) 1 sqd Trollenhagen 40 MiG-21PFM/SPS (JG-2 J.Gagarin) 1 sqd at Holzdorf 40 MiG-21MF/SPS-K (JG-1 F.Schmenkel) 1 sqd at Preschen 12 MiG-21MF 20 MiG-29 (JG-3 W.Komarow) 1 sqd at Drewitz 50 MiG-21PFM/SPS (JG-7 W.Pieck deleted 23.10.89) 1 sqd at Marxwalde 41 MiG-21bis (JG-8 H.Matern) 1 sqd at Rothenburg 26 MiG-21SPS (FAG-15 H.Kapelle training unit) 1 sqd at Bautzen 49 L-39ZO (FAG-25 L.Ratz training unit) 1 sqd at Drewitz 18 MiG-23BN (JBG-37 K.Gottwald) 1 sdq at Laage 24 Su-22M4 (JBG-77 G.L.v.Blücher) 1 aqd at Laage 24 Su-22M4 (MFG-28 P.Wieczoreck Navy unit) As you see its completly different. No Su-25, no MiG-21RF, no MiG-27, number of MiG-23 and MiG-29 much to high. Number of MiG-21 much to low. Same with ground forces. In the source is said, that were enourmous numbers of BMP-2 in east german service. In reality there were only 30, because the USSR was not able and willing to sell this high capable vehicle. The source said that there were enourmos numbers of T-72 in east german service. In reality it were 549. 283 of outdated T-72 basic version, 130 T-72M (also outdated), 136 T-72M1 (modern) then there were around 500 modernized T-55AM-2 and 1500 outdated T-55.
  6. To ask the questions. 1. The terrain is made for first generation SFP1 WOX. 2. The size of the terrain is 1000x1000km in nearly 1:1 scale. 3. At the moment 87 target areas are set. 4. The greenish ground texture will be removed in the release version. I use it to find target areas more easily. the screenshot shows 3 airfields in Saudi Arabia and one oil storage facility.

  8. You asked for the tileset. At the moment i use the SFP1 stock tileset with some additional tiles, like roads. The salt swamps of Shatt el Arab are not set on the map. I think this area is to close to the edge of the map.

  11. Its still an early Beta version. Katar is done, Bahrain is done, all airfields are done. Next will be Saudi Arabian area around Dharhan. Then UAE, then Iran, then US Carrier stations. translation of the german text: oilfield.................... one of 43 airfields Skyscrapers in Manama (Bahrain)
  12. Seems to be, that there were really Gefreite as pilots. Astonished me a little bit. That gunners etc were from soldiers ranks ... okay, but pilots? Maybe then i have learned something new again. While research a little bit i found that in the early times the observers/navigators in a 2 seater plane were higher ranking than the pilots. In slang they were called Emil (pilot) and Franz (observer/navigator). When in WW1 a plane by observers/navigators error lost the orientation then it was said "Das Flugzeug hat sich verfranzt." From this a german proverb comes: "Ich hab mich verfranzt." What means "I've lost the orientation." Its used up today.
  13. As german native speeker i must say the link Paarma found (aerosomthing) is murx in german or rubbish in english language. In german air forces, as i said above, were two lines of pilots. Pilots in sergeants rank and pilots in officers rank. There were no pilots in soldiers ranks (as far as i know) What mean the ranks Flieger and Gefreiter are not existing in the flying personal, but available at the ground crews. When an officer from an other unit (cavallery for example) moved to the Fliegertruppe he startet with his officer rank (von Richthofen is such an example). Seargents startet with a sergeant rank and could promote to the highest Seargents rank or could switch to the officers carrier. This is what Paarma correctly found on Udet. He started as Seargent and then switched to officer carrier. If he would have stayed in the sergeants carrier he would have promoted to Feldwebel. An Vicefeldwebel or Vizefeldwebel is always below the Feldwebel. The Feldwebel is the 3 step in sergeants carrier. You start with Unteroffizier, will become Vicefeldwebel (Unterfeldwebel[east germany] Stabsunteroffizier [west germany]) and then Feldwebel. Simple trick for reminding: a ViceAdmiral is always lower in rank as an Admiral. My fault was to declare the Offiziersstellvertreter as Chef Master Sergeant. This is wrong. Offiziersstellvertreter is no rank its a Dienststellung (duty position? hope this is the correct translation) and was not connected with a rank. What means, that all Sergeants could be Offiziersstellvertreter. Normally 1 or 2 Sergeants of a Kompanie/Staffel were Offiziersstellvertreter. Other designations in soldiers slang are "Spieß" or "Stiefmutter der Kompanie". In the east german army we had a similar system. One of the seargents was "Hauptfeldwebel", but his rank was Feldwebel. He was the Deputy of the Officers.

  15. View File Tiran Pack(israeli T-54, T-55, T-62) Tiran Panzers ***************** ---------------------------------------------------------- I. HISTORY In the 6 days war Israel captured hundrets of egyptian and syrian T-54 and T-55. In opposite to the common trevia the Israelis accepted this panzers as good, reliable and powerfull vehicles and used them under the designation Tiran in the IDF. Tiran1 were the T-54 and Tiran2 the T-55. Tiran panzers proofed very successfull in Yom Kippur war. For instance: the war deciding israeli panzer attack at Sinai was launched by Tiran vehicles. The major plus point of the israeli Tiran over their arab counterparts was the superior crew training. While arab crews were only able to fire from stand the israeli Tiran crews were able to fire while moving. Arab crews needed 20 -30 second for a aimed shot. Iraeli crews needed 15 seconds. The difference seems to be not much on the first view, but it is deciding.( Mind experiment: 10 egyptian T-55 and 10 israeli Tiran2 detect each other at the same time at a range of 1.800 meters, the israelis will fire after 15 seconds. At this range the hit chance of the vehicles gun (D-10TS) is 2/3 = 66,666% What means, that after the first israeli salvo only 3 to 4 egyptian tanks survive. If the egyptians fire 5 - 10 seconds later they will hit 2 - 3 Tiran. 7 - 8 surviving israeli tanks will shoot back and will kill the rest of egyptian tanks with the next salvo) During Yom Kippur war israeli forces captured further T-54, T-55 and T-62. The later ones were pressed in service under designation Tiran3. Modernised T-62 with 105mm gun L-7 got the designation Tiran 6. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ II. 17. Ehm. Its a little bit different: There were two groups of pilots the first were pilots in sergent ranks, the second pilots in officer ranks Here the sergeant ranks: Unteroffizier - Sergeant Sergeant - the same like Sergeant Vizefeldwebel - Staff sergeant Feldwebel - Master Sergeant Offiziersstellvertreter - Chief Master Sergeant The problem with translation of ranks is, that different armies have different steps of ranks with sergeants. Fähnrich - ensign = (officer pupil or aspirant) Same problem with officer ranks. While US and british armies (and today) the Bundeswehr have only 2 lieutenant ranks in WW1 time it gave 3 lieutenant ranks, like nowadays in russia Feldwebelleutnant - Sub Lieutenant (not exist in US) Leutnant - lieutenant ( = US Second Lieutenant) Oberleutnant - Major Lieutenant ( = US First Lieutanent) Hauptmann / Rittmeister - captain Major - major Oberstleutnant - lieutenant colonel Oberst - colonel

    The Royal Wedding

Yes the medias are a problem, especcially the yellow press. Personally i dislike the monarchy, but i accept that the royal family is a symbol. It has no real political power, but as a symbol it can unify the people. You see it in the Netherlands or Sweden or Danmark. The Royals are a symbol. They are a symbol like the singing of "Rule britannia! or Big Ben. Of course the live would go forward without them ...

Hätte man also nicht abschaffen müssen!
  22. You can set groundobjects at a terrain as part of the terrain, this is terrain modding. Or you can create a scripted single mission. I think you want to make the later one. Then you dont need editing the terrain. Editing of a terrain will be permanent, what means, that the SAM battery is always at their position. For scripted single missions you can place SAM batteries at free will and they will only appear in that single scripted mission. This are the lines for a scripted mission i made for testing the Su-22M4 in SEAD mod. You will face 4 mobile SAM batteries (Roland, Chaparall and Flakpanzer Gepard) [MissionHeader] AircraftType=Su-22M4 MissionMap=GermanyCE MissionType=SEAD StartTime=15:30:00 StartDate=06/18/1985 [MissionData] FriendlyAirActivity=1 EnemyAirActivity=1 PlayerMissionID=1 PlayerPositionID=1 MissionNumber=0815 AdjustStartPosition=FALSE AdjustBaseWaypoint=TRUE [Weather] WeatherType=SCATTERED WeatherAlt=4000.0 WeatherThickness=500.0 FogAmount=0.6 ContrailAlt=8000.0 StartWindDirection=180 StartWindSpeed=17.57222 WindGustingAmount=25.57222 [AircraftMission001] AircraftType=Su-22M4 Name=TOMAHAWK FormationType=SovietFighter Size=4 RandomChance=100 MissionType=SEAD ObjectiveID=2 RatingForSuccess=50 Position=412256.0,488390.0,3000 Heading=180.0 Speed=300.0 Alignment=ENEMY StartOnGround=0 Nation=Soviet TextureSet=001 AircraftNumber=10 [GroundMission001] GroundObjectType=mroland Name=Marder Roland FormationType=SOVIET Size=4 RandomChance=100 Alignment=FRIENDLY Heading=0.0 Speed=10 Position=412256.0,477390.0,0.0 [GroundMission002] GroundObjectType=ChaparralL Name=Chaparral FormationType=SOVIET Size=4 RandomChance=100 Alignment=FRIENDLY Heading=0.0 Speed=10 Position=413256.0,477390.0,0.0 [GroundMission003] GroundObjectType=Gepard Name=Gepard FormationType=SOVIET Size=4 RandomChance=100 Alignment=FRIENDLY Heading=0.0 Speed=10 Position=411256.0,477390.0,0.0
