  1. The Anteus. Great! 15 years ago i stand in the body of this big big big bird. You can place a house into it!
  2. Perhaps one reason that it went relativly well here in Germany is that the germans are not as hottempered (hope this is the correct english term) as cubans or other southlanders.
  3. The situations you decribe are common to me. You was free in speech till you got to a certain border. To test out this border was a tricky thing. It depended on the people which were part of a discussion or a meeting. And astonishingly it was very often possible to discuss hard and open with "believing communists", because they wanted to convice you (very similar to believing christs but only in an other direction). Problematic it became if you had to face "110 % ers". This guys were careerists and thatswhy very dangerous. One wrong word and ... imagine yourself. (After the Change this guys were the first who throw away their party books and became members of the democratic parties.) But the people got a fine sense to find out wheter type of person sat on the other side of the table.
  4. Point 1. The so called "Stasi Akten" files. The names in this files are "blacked" what means you cant read the names of the IM (call them spies, covered agents etc.pp what you want, here in Germany we call the IM "informal members") So it is nearly impossible to say exactly who was the one who told the Stasi. Point 2. From my own experience. In my file i found a lot of things which must come from IM's. I have no problem with that if the IM's told the truth. I'm a man who stand to his words and actions. If the IM's told rubbish then it is a different matter. And in one case i would like to cut a throat, if i would only find out who was that p....g! But it seems to be that the Stasi was smart enough to find out wheter a information of an IM was true or rubbish. In my case one IM told the Stasi that i was an "enemy of the state". But this info was identified by the Stasi as an attempt of a personal revenge of this person to me. So i had no repressions from the Stasi side. In contrary they checked me trough and i got the highest ranking of reliability so that i was allowed to walk the borderline "enemyward", what meant between borderfence and borderline. (What a doubtfull honour!) The Stasi is declared as a overwhelming repression organization. But the normal citizen never saw and heared anything from them. Personaly i never saw them. I knew that they were existend, that they were listening, watching, that you had to be carefull what to say. Not really different from todays life. Only 5 % of GDR citizens had closer "contact" with the Stasi and got trouble with it. But this 5 % had a really hard life. Point 3: Johnathan wrote that you can request to look into your Stasi file. This is true. It is also true that journalists, scientists etc can take a look into this files, but only in the files of the east germans. Files of west german people are closed. It is also true, that the agency BStU, who is the bureau of clearing the Stasi files, has some strange behaviour. A free research into the files if not allowed. If a scientist or journalist want to search for a subject, he gets only parts of the material, never the whole stuff. Also leting out is a kind of lying! In some cases it had become obviously that the BStU and other "victim organisations" are forging material. In the Stasi museum at Hohenschönhausen for instance you can see a torture cell. The stupid thing is that this cell was built in after 1990. In GDR times was at this place the kitchen. This is a very stupid way of acting, because it made it easy for the "old commies" to say "This is not ours", "This is forged!" BStU is also know for selective annihilation of files. As you see the german way is far away to be perfect. The files are still today a methode to duck people and devide the germans into parts. It would be better to taken this files away from BStU or "victim organisation" and give them into the hand of reliable archivars or scientists. Or to burn them.
  5. As far as i know it is possible. But only if you have seasoned tilesets, so that the game is drawing the correct winter, spring, summer or fall tileset. With this sets the weather conditions are connected. This way is gone in First Eagles by stock. All other games does not have this feature by stock. You must implement it by yourself. The following lines are taken from Cambrai terrain of First Eagles. You may use it as blueprint. [Terrain] TerrainFullName=Cambrai, France DataFile=wwiCambrai_data.INI TargetFile=wwiCambrai_targets.INI TargetTypeFile=wwiCambrai_types.INI MovementFile=wwiCambrai_movement.INI NationsFile=wwiCambrai_nations.INI BriefingText=wwiCambrai_briefing.INI DogfightFile=wwiCambrai_dogfight.INI DogfightOnly=FALSE Longitude=5.221 Latitude=49.176 [Map] FilenameFormat=wwiCambrai_Map%d.bmp Width=250000.0 Height=250000.0 NumZoomLevels=3 [WeatherChance] ScatteredChance=25 BrokenChance=25 OvercastChance=17 InclementChance=8 [season001] Directory=Snow StartDate=1/1 EndDate=1/27 ScatteredChance=0 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=50 InclementChance=10 [season002] Directory=Spring StartDate=01/28 EndDate=06/21 ScatteredChance=40 BrokenChance=25 OvercastChance=17 InclementChance=8 [season003] Directory=Fall StartDate=09/21 EndDate=11/25 ScatteredChance=25 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=17 InclementChance=8 [season004] Directory=Snow StartDate=11/26 EndDate=12/31 ScatteredChance=0 BrokenChance=40 OvercastChance=50 InclementChance=10

If i make a typo like MiG15_cockpit.ini then i wont work.
  7. I had a comparable problem when i built BoB terrain. I got CTD caused by the LOD file of the Eiffel tower in Paris. I dont know why.
  8. Which side do you fly for? In Israel2 terrain the Anti Ship missions are for Israel only. If you fly a MiG you will have the descriped problem. More Anti shipping placed you will get if you include following lines into your Israel2_movement.ini (But again for Israel only) [Route007] RouteType=SHIPPING StartArea=Port Suez EndArea=El Ghurdaqa RoutePosition[001]=356000,381000 RoutePosition[002]=367000,343000 RoutePosition[003]=470000,189000 [Route008] RouteType=SHIPPING StartArea=Eilat Harbour EndArea=Sharm El Sheik A RoutePosition[001]=594000,347000 RoutePosition[002]=576000,305000 RoutePosition[003]=554000,220000 [Route009] RouteType=SHIPPING StartArea=Beirut Port EndArea=Tripoli Port RoutePosition[001]=640000,794000 RoutePosition[002]=676000,805000 RoutePosition[003]=684870,855030 [Route010] RouteType=SHIPPING StartArea=Larnaka EndArea=Tripoli Port RoutePosition[001]=478000,889000 RoutePosition[002]=676000,805000 RoutePosition[003]=684870,855030 [Route011] RouteType=SHIPPING StartArea=Sharm El Sheik A EndArea=El Ghurdaqa RoutePosition[001]=535000,167000 RoutePosition[002]=505000,130000
  9. So was ähnliches habe ich mal zusammengeschustert. Habe aber das Mapping der skins irgendwie nicht richtig hinbekommen und dann war die Zeitspanne der Demoversion abgelaufen. Als Beta version habe ich ihn in die Downloadsection eingestellt. FM usw ist alles soweit i.o.
  10. to 1.) not all planes are equipped with CCIP for instance the A-4 to 3.) If you have WOE with the latest patch you dont need SFP1, WOV or WOI. Terrains, weapons and planes for the areas and time frames of this sims are available as freeware in the download section. SFP2 has some small improvements and is only neccessary if you have Vista or Windows7.
  11. Du kannst es ja auch mal mit diesem Biest versuchen. Sollte mal der MiG-21 Nachfolger werden, hat aber nur zum Modell gereicht.
  12. If you compare the Igla with the Stinger then you will find, that the search angle of the IR seeker of the Igla is bigger than that of the Stinger. This is the only difference. Both IR seekers are able to ignore flares, what should be no surprise. Igla is the russian word of Stinger. The stinger was shortly after their introduction in Afghanistan war captured by the soviets and tested.
  13. Its true. Its a show. No armament, low on fuel. But if i compare it with the F-4F i have seen at airshows the MiG-23ML is much better. I have spoken with old german MiG-23 jocks and they told me, that the ML agility was not as bad, especially if the wing was at medium wing position. They also told me, that the MiG-23 was flown permanently with autopilot support. Without this support the bird became beasty. So i think, that the american pilots who tested the MiG-23 had flown that bird with switched off autopilot. Perhaps the egyptians, who gave away their MiG-23 to the US, made a little joke to offer the plane, but not the neccessary manuals.
  14. This video shows a czech MiG-23ML in an air show flight display. In contrary to the common belief this bird is astonishingly agile.
  15. Gepard

    Don't fence me in

Once upon the time i walked along the borderfence that devided the two Germanies, with my Kashi over the shoulder and a comrade and his dog on my side. And from eyewitness i can say that a fence is a good methode to stop illegals. But .... It is not real a human solution of a geeper problem.
  16. The german victory over France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the british corps was a victory of brainwork. While the french and british played with tanks during the 20th and early 30th, the germans solved the problem of modern warfare theoratically. They adopted soviet ideas of fast and deep operations. Connected this ideas with the "Cannae" doctrin, added the close air support idea and the Blitzkrieg doctrin was born. So they were able to defeat armies with much more and much better tanks. (Dont forget, that the majority of german tanks in 1940 were outdated P-I and P-II)
  17. The following lines are atranslation from the book "Panzer aus sieben Jahrzehnten" by Igor Schmeljow "Captain Lebedenko, chief of the test bureau of the war ministery, started to design a combat vehicle which was equipped with wheels of large diameters. He had the correct idea, that large wheels could overcome trenches much easier than small wheels. Lebedenkos vehicle looked on the first view like a artillery lafette of large scale. Each wheel had a diameter of 10 meters and was driven by one 200 hp german Maybach engine. This engines came from a shot down Zeppelin. Lebedenkos proposal was accepted and funded. In August 1917 the vehicle was assembled close to a wood near the town of Dimitrow. At this place the vehicle was tested and showed no positive results. The project was canceled. The Tsar Tank was the largest combat vehicle. With a combat weight of 40 tons it should be armed with 2 guns and some machineguns. The calculated top speed was 20 kph." I hope this is helpfull for you
  18. Was für ein Tileset! Aber ich fürchte, daß mein oller Computer dabei in die Knie gehen wird.
  19. Formosa terrain is written for WOE. It is using the WOE standard tileset from GermanyCE. 3 additional tiles i made are also included in the package Formosa1.0. It seems to be sat you use for this 3 additional tiles 3 other tiles which are basing on SFP1 standard terrain Desert. Thatswhy you have the strange looking terrain at picture 7,8 and 9.
  20. One was built. One crashed while test. One was left on the testfield. One was scrapped years later in soviet time.
  21. Saw it live on TV. Was a good show. Pastravlyayu was dnjom pobjedu! Good to see the Brits, Polish, French, American and some GUS troops too. I'd also liked to listen to Beethovens 9th "Freude schöner Götterfunken". What i disliked were to see the Iskander and Topol-M nuke carriers.
  22. The SA-3 Goa, soviet name Newa, was delivered in small numbers in early 1973 and was used as airfield defence SAM. You should not forget, that the F-15A was in the first time restricted to 6.3g flight limit. A slotted F-4E was able to hold against such a limited Eagle. German F-4F pilots still today tell their stories how they butchered the first Eagles in mock up combats. The MiG-21 was able to beat the F-4E and F in dogfight if it was in the hands of a skilled and physically capable pilot. A lot of vietnamese pilots were physicaly not able to withstand to much G force. That the US Phantoms could beat the MiG-21 at low altittutes was caused more by the pilot limits than the limits of the MiG-21.
  23. It may painfull for americans to accept that it was the finest hour for the vietnamese people. After 30 years of war the vietnamese reunificated their country. Then they needed 15 years to accept that their socialist way was wrong, but now they are on a good path.
  24. Violance in parliaments reminds me on the very bad old days in Germany. In 1933 the Nazis came to power by threatening the other parliamentarians by pure violance. They sent the SA troops in the Reichstag to push a law through the parliament which paved the way to a dictatorship. And it worked. Thatswhy i dont trust "democrats" who use force and fighting in parliament. Remember the past to avoid that it will be the future again!
