My projects (GKABS)

Pegasus. A hydrofoil, that will be challenging. Do you have already an idea, how you can "lift" the boats body at high speeds? -

I'm playing with bridge models. I found two on my harddrive: I placed them side by side for test reasons. From higher altitudes they are looking good. But if you flying low you see, that the ends are "hanging in the air". The bridge ends of SF2 Vietnam neighter fit nor they looks good. I would need a longer, perhaps curvy ramp, which reaches 34 meters at the end. Or i play with the tile_hm.bmp file to include such a ramp in the tile. -

It would be a lot of work to create such targetareas. The ActiveDate value setting you will make all by hand. Then you need completly new static planes. With stock planes in use you would find them "laying on the belly". -

My next terrain project
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Next development step: i added some more buildings, Flak and SAM cover and finally i planted some trees. The final step will be to make a green tile. But not today. Tomorrow is also a day. -

Thx Wrench. I used vPower3. It fit in size perfect to the sat picture, which i used for making the tile. It seems to be that vPower3 is made exactly for this tile. -

SitRep: I started to create a separate tile for the argentinian Nuclear Powerplant Atucha. Its much smaller than Energodar, what i made for Ukraine terrain. Its the first step. No green tile made so far. It will come later. I placed some buildings and the two reactors. There will come much more. What i would need are some transformers or electrical substations, which are to place in the gray square with the 3 dark lines. I dont know wheter someone had created them for an other terrain. -

When i searched with Google Earth i found a small airfield near Santa Teresita, Argentina. Its a very simple runway and it was very easy to create this airfield for the terrain. It is located in the area, in which i made the british beachhead. On the first view it is a nice thing to use this base as forward airfield. But unfortunatly the game engine now starts all "Friendly" missions from this base and ignore all other airfields. Thatswhy i will set this base to NEUTRAL. So it is visible in game. Not good. I will sleep about it, perhaps i will find a better solution. -

A small airfield near Gualeguay, Argentina. I think in reality it is used by a local airclub. But usefull for smaller combat planes, if the mainrunway is extended. -

SitRep: i added more buildings to the Campana Oil Refinery. The refinery and the Steel Plant now have Flak protection. If you have SAM for the Argentinians then one SAM site is part of the Steel Plant defence. -

SitRep: Campana Steel Plant, again. I added some buildings and a port with two cargoships. Then i repainted the steel work building a second time. Then i have started to build the oil refinery of Campana which is close to the Steel Plant. -

I was busy with creating the large Steel factory of Campana in Argentina. In editor it looked good, but in game i realized: "F..ck, there are growing trees through the roof!"- 845 replies

My 2 cents. The idea to use a "nonflyable" aircraft as target for the AI gunners of combat helicopters or planes is worth to think about it. For scenarios, wher only one side has planes, like Afghanistan, i see no problems. But i fear, that if both sides have planes, the AI could use the "nonflyable" planes/groundtargets like real planes, what could cause troubles, so that the targets of a mission could not reached. The idea needs some tests. Perhaps the result is good.

Pilar industrial complex is finished. I placed some Flak in the middle. Make a nice firework. Its astonishing, that Flak hits something. This time the tailsection of my wingman. BTW: Does Argentina has SAM? -

The small airport near Villa Gesell: It is a long, small runway with one service area, in reality used for civil light aircrafts.
