Operation Seelöwe
Gepard replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
Sit rep: The tiles of small rivers are dark now. This job has done and i'm satisfied with it. London tiling is also finished so far. Perhaps here and there some small things to do. Now i'm going down the river Themse and i have made 2 new tiles for Tilbury docks and the near Fort Tilbury. Making tiles from black and white ´photos is not as easy as thought. (As usually) The colors does not fit. Not yet. Give me 2 weeks or so. ;-) -

I think i will release the terrain with the JPG files. The TGA files could come as goodies in a seperate folder, so that guys with good computers can install the files with water effect. -

Sit rep: The color of the small river and the Themse in London area does not really fit. Thatswhy i'm reworking the small rivers to give them a dark, more natural looking color. Screenshot is showing a WIP old (light blue) and new color (dark) of small rivers. after repainting the small river tile looks more european than before. I decided to make the small river tile as JPG, instead TGA. A JPG tile has a size of around 300 kb, a TGA has 4.097 kb. The workload for the computer was to high, so that it could happen, that during dogfight with many planes the fps rate dropped significantly. With JPG it does not happen. -

Sit rep: I have started to make new tiles for the river Themse west of Batterypark in London. The screenshot shows a view from west to east. Batterypark, Hydepark and Tower of London i have marked on screenshot for your better orientation. -
The VKK-6 suit was widely used, but only for flight at high altitutes. Lets say 10.000 m plus. For combat missions close to the earth up to medium altitutes the PPK-1 was worn.

The pressure suit VKK-6M was only used for hight altitute flights. For this flights the helmet GSh-6 was used. The combination of Helmet ZSh-5 and VKK-6 pressure suit was not used. The helmet ZSh-5 was used in combination with pressure "trousers" (dont know the correct english term, Druckhose we call it in german) PPK-1. It was worn under the pilots uniform. and so it looks:

London tiles mostly reworked with new, more red, tiles. So it looks now: There are some tiles to rework, including the tile with the HMS Belfast that still needs to be removed. -

Thats true. I will make London a little bit smaller than it was on the old map. Here a test with a new standard generic city1 tile What do you think? Should i stay with the old greyish tile or set on the more brick red tile? -

Look over London cityport in southern direction. The generic citytiles, which i made, i dont know. They are looking more like a small town than London. BTW, could someone make a real He-100D1? I love this bird! -

WIP screenshot: London Cityport. You see, that the blending tiles south of the port (over the left wing of the plane) are not made yet. (5 or 6 tiles) When all tiles are made and placed, i will have to make them "older". Modern features, like the runway in London Cityport or modern factories, motorways etc i must overpaint. -

Made some new tiles to blend the London Cityporttiles with the generic city tiles. So it looked before i made the blending tiles and so with the blending tiles: -

If i have understood the Washington Post correctly, there is a serious suspicion, that sloppiness in a laboratory in Wuhan is the root cause for Covid19 pandemic. So called scientinst played god and created a new virus. And then they were unable to hold it under safe conditions and the breakout was only a question of time. Perhaps all countries in the world should bill the cost of Covid-19 control China. May the Chinese pay for the mess they have made.

North of Warsaw toward the german border are in reality a lot of lakes. In german language we call it the "Masurischen Seen". There are hundreds of lakes, smaller and bigger ones. The bigger ones could easily be used as sea plane base. The Weichsel river is a big river too. At Warsaw area the Weichsel is 300 - 400 meters wide. Its wide enough to land a seaplane.
