  1. Sorry to hear about your loss, Stumpjumper. Sounds like she was a real beauty. Taps.
  2. Here are some of mine, Olham. Damage model, of course!
  3. Okay, if the game will not run at the maximum resolution your monitor supports, try backing off on the resolution. Try 1024 X 960 or 1024 X 780.
  4. Don't give up yet! "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going.Who's with me? Let's Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!!" Just by chance, did you click on the X on the right side of the graphics config box instead of clicking on File/Exit on the left? Your changes don't "take" if you click on the X. Also, try lowering the refresh rate on your monitor. Perhaps your monitor won't run at your usual refresh rate when you are at maximum resolution.

  7. I'm curious to see how it works, as well.
  8. You can make your flight of Rolands or Fee's, etc. act more like fighters than bombers via a fairly minor tweak of the OBDSoftware\CFSWWI Over Flanders Fields\aircraft\XXX_Sqd folder's xdp file. To wit, the Fee: Open the aircraft\Fe2b_Sqd folder and open the Fe2b_sqd.xdp file with a text editor. Near the top of the file, under the section titled <UnitData>, look for the following line: "Category='tactical_bomber' " Change "tactical_bomber" to "fighter_bomber" and save the new xdp file. Now your flight will act more like fighters than bombers or observers. I'm not sure if this change will also make "A" flight into fighters or not. I'm also not sure how to specify how to make other squadrons into fighters save editing all of the aircraft folders for each airplane variant so that they also read Category= "fighter-bomber" I suppose you could try editing some, but not all of the folders, but then you might wind up with some planes acting like observers and the others acting like fighters--all in the same flight! Anyone daring enough to try? :heat:
  9. Very late, so won't be able to say much, but yes, I've been "around," as they say. RB1 was my first flight sim, but I got that only after RB2 was released. Picked up RB2 after it got the Super patch and had a great deal of fun with it, although RB1 still had that certain something that RB2 lacked. My first sim of any kind was Silent Service II on floppy disks! Talk about crude graphics! But what do you expect in the year 1987?
  10. Hey, doesn't my name suggest whose side I usually fly for? Which reminds me, a while back Olham asked where I came up with my screen name, or what did it mean. Well, way back in Red Baron 2 days, I discovered, by chance, the Red Baron forum at Delphi.com. Everyone seemed to have such cool nick names, and all the good ones were taken! Nevertheless, I needed a name to identify me on the forum. So, I started to think about aeronautical terms and came up with the propwash effect, so named for the air turbulence created by the thrust of the propeller flowing over the control surfaces of the aircraft. So, on that forum I went by the name Propwash. After originally signing in at the old OFF forum as Ira Taffy" Jones, I decided to revert to my old screen name when I registered here at Combatace. Since my family has a good deal of Germanic blood, I decided to make my name "sound" a little more German. Hence, Herr Prop-Wasche, with Prop being short for Propeller. ...and now you know the rest of the story.
  11. Your screen is not compressed, it's shifted over to the right. Does you monitor have a set of controls for adjusting the on-screen display? You should be able to find a control to control the horizontal size and position. Start BHaH and shift the screen to the left and stretch it, if needed. If you have an nVidia card, start BHaH, press the Start key on you keyboard and select "All Programs." You should see an entry for "nVidia Corporation." Highlight this with you mouse and a menu to nVidia control panel should open up. Click on this to open the control panel while BhaH is running. Under the section marked Display, look for the setting to adjust desktop size and position. This should allow you to adjust the screen to your liking while still within the game.
  12. Okay, here is some Computer 101. Click Start. Look for and click on My Computer. You will see a window open up. The window is divided into several sections. Look for the section that says "Hard Disk Drives." Under this you will see at least one drive, probably something like "System (C:)." There may be others, it depends on your system. Generally speaking, C: is the main hard drive where most of your programs are located. Double click on the line that says System (C:). You will now see a list of folders (also called files). Look for the folder that says "OBDSoftware." Open up the folder and then click on the folder that says "CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields." This will open up a new window that has lots of folders and files. Look for the file that says "CFS3.exe." Now, RIGHT-click on that file by using your RIGHT mouse button. You will see a menu open up. Look for the "Run as" command. Click on that and you should see the option to run as administrator. Hope that helps. If not, find a teenager or someone you know who is knowledgeable about computers. Good luck and I hope you are able to get everything working smoothly.
  13. Lou, Ricketycrate didn't say it was an Oil pressure gauge, he said it was an Oil Level gauge. Don't know if that makes any difference, but thought I would point that out. Have to say that I am thouroughly enjoying this thread, even though I haven't hazarded a guess, yet (although I did spend several hours looking for that darned wildcard photo of the automatic camera). Very interesting information and in an entertaining format.
  14. Only if you catch him, first!
  15. Might not be the answer for your problems, but the first thing I would do is stress test your memory. BHaH definitely stresses your memory and I have had a memory module that was working fine suddenly cause problems when I played a memory intensive game.
  16. OMG! For such a relatively small town, we Daytonians could almost fill up a Jasta! Welcome to the forum HouseHobbit. In addition to myself, Axegrinder and Dave (one of the moderators) are also from Dayton, with Madmatt just down the road in Cincinnati. Do any of you have any plans to attend the WWI Fly-in at WPAFB later this month?
  17. If this quote is accurate, the danger from flaming onions would appear to be only from a direct hit that would put a 37mm hole in your wing (no blast or fragmentation damage) which would cause the fabric of the aircraft to catch fire and burn away. Eventually, the loss of control surface would cause the aircraft to crash. While I have faith that Stumpjumper will be able to reproduce the visual effect, I bet the limitations of the CFS3 engine will make it very difficult to accurately simulate the damage effect caused by this weapon. OTOH, if Frank Luke is the only recorded victim of this weapon, than maybe just having the visual effect will be enough. It's dangerous enough up there as it is!
  18. Glad we could be of help, ZZ. What setting did you find worked best for you?
  19. You want the simple answer? You can't. Only the OFF devs can add flyable planes to BHaH. I suppose you could add non-flyables, but then you would have to figure out how to assign them to squadrons, give them missions, loadouts, etc. However, do not fear. The OFF boys will be adding a plane pack in the (somewhat) near future. It probably won't contain the particular model you are looking for, but it will have several and it won't cost as much as it does to add new planes to the sim whose name cannot be named.
  20. I read somewhere earlier today that they were Tigermoth's, dressed up to look like a 1917 Rumpler CV.
  21. I think that most of the newer CFS3 disks are already updated to 3.1 Roger55 should check what version he has first.
  22. Stump, I sent you a PM about beta testing your flaming onions. Any word yet?
  23. I was also waiting to see who might help out. If you still need a volunteer, sign me up, SJ. I'll give it a go.
  24. Welcome to the forum, Roger55. I think you will really like it here. Everyone is very friendly--well, except for that uncleAl fellow before his morning coffee!
