  1. Rudder pedals and TrackIr are the best things that have ever happened to flight sims. Once you use either, you can't ever go back to being without them!
  2. Looks interesting. Are towns, cities, rivers, roads, lakes and railways positioned in the actual game accurately so as to coincide with your map? Also, does this technique have any real chance of success in a combat flight? Won't all the careful flying by compass and time calculations go out the window after a tangle with the enemy? How do you resume a carefully planned flight after an enemy encounter takes you miles off course, the terrain below not telling you much about your current position?
  3. Thanks Duck!
  4. It seems the file can't be found on SOH anymore. Any ideas on how to get it?
  5. I'll be on earlier today for some testing so I'll stay on for this.
  6. Can't PM ya Stump. Is your PM box full?
  7. Rickitycrate, If you are unhappy with any of your batches, I offer a unique service. Just send me any brew you don't want and I'll see that it's disposed of properly!
  8. Other than the nearby engines of my flight members sounding like a bit too much reverb/echo effect in them, this seems to be a great improvement. I'll continue with it as it's possible that my Soundblaster 5.1 surround settings might need to be tweaked to match what you have given us here.
  9. Siggi, On a positive note you probably used a credit card to make your purchase, right? After dealing with the company as best you can for a refund, simply call your CC company and ask for a chargeback. They'll either ask you a few questions or send you a form to fill out but most importantly most all CC companies will immediately give you a full credit for your bad purchase. One should not support companies with unreasonable or intrusive DRM, or products that don't work as expected. Not disclosing the DRM is reason enough for a chargeback IMHO. I purchase very few software titles because of excessive DRM or if you have to be "online for single player" requirements and certainly never buy anything at first release; there's so much that can be wrong with a title so I'd rather wait to hear feedback from users. I passed on RoF and may have to pass on the upcoming Supreme Commander 2 that I've been waiting for for so long because of the "online required for single player" issue that may be in effect. The PC Gamer/Consumer must make a stand now before this type of DRM gets completely out-of-control. We need to show the game companies that we are willing to not purchase their products if they offend us so. Spend your gaming dollars on companies worthy of support. Do your research on a new title and ask questions about the DRM. If the ugly monster rears it's head, don't throw your money at it.
  10. This will be available soon on disk: http://www.gogamer.com/viewproduct.htm?productId=95643999 Isn't this the same developer as RoF? Is the DRM as intrusive?
  11. What you have with human vs. human dogfights is the nastiest bug of all in OFF multiplayer; the "unusual attitude" of your opponent when he's turning hard. He flys backwards and sideways and shoots you when pointed away from you. When you look behind you and see an enemy at 800 ft, he most likely is much, much closer than that as you soon find out. I find myself marveling at these bugs so much that I forget what I'm doing. Kills could be more attributed to a players lag time rather than skill, but also even the host experiences the bug. We've all hated this from the beginning, is there a fix that I'm unaware of? Or a new way to minimize the problem?
  12. Yes, Stump's new N-17Bis works with rockets now. It's available to multiplayers on teamspeak. Let's all give a big hand to Stumpjumper!
  13. If ya go for the heavy unfiltered ales, you owe it to yourself to try Pyramid Apricot Ale. I recommend it after a hard day patrolling the skies.
  14. My vote is the Nieuport 17 Bis. Cowl mounted vickers and upper wing mounted Lewis gun with 741 rounds total. It hits hard!
  15. I'll be on teamspeak Tue, Wed and Thurs staring around 10am pacific time to test some new missions for the Saturday session. I'll stay on as long as possible. If anyone wants to drop by I'd appreciate the help and I'm sure you'll like the entertainment.
  16. Welcome to OFF! You are going to get as varied a responce to that question as if you'd asked "what kind of new car should I buy?" Don't get overwhelmed and take the advice on system components given here with a grain of salt. If this is for OFF only a single nvidia GTX 285 or upwards 1GB or more memory video card and a nice 22-24" fast refresh monitor. Then build the rest appropriately with whatever cash you have left.
  17. I just love those train attack missions, and the flak cars on them are soooo deadly!
  18. We've now completed 9 missions flying for RNAS-6 in the N-17 Bis. Todays Saturday sessions was attended by: Loopy Red Dog Grumpybear von Baur Burning Beard Dudley Axgrinder Sitting Duck Foxendown and myself Next week we'll be flying the missions again except from the German standpoint in the Albatros DV. Here's a snap of us returning on a rainy day, Axgrinder in a N-17 Bis, Myself and Loopy in Sopwith Triplanes, von Baur and Burning Beard in Sopwith 1-1/2 Strutters.
  19. Well since we already have the Gotha and Zeppelin in multiplayer, I'll cast my vote for the Snipe. That should be interesting.
  20. Actually it was produced by the BBC in 1988 and shown here in the states on the BBC channel "Masterpiece Theatre" in 1992. Here's where I got my DVD: http://www.bbcameric...cake-12956.html I'm sure they have a similar store in the UK, try googling Piece of Cake BBC. It's a must have movie for any aviation enthusiast's collection. I re-watch it several times a year. You can search Youtube, there are some other clips available there.
  21. I just noticed that in the 1st post I linked to the Teamspeak 3 download page when in fact we're using Teamspeak 2 available here: http://teamspeak.com/?page=downloads&archive=1
  22. "Piece of Cake". A BBS production around 1992 or thereabout. Wonderful movie when it was on TV but I missed the final chapter then. I bought a 3 DVD set of it online somewhere but can't remember where. Maybe it can be rented? It's a must see. Real Spits, and spanish ME's and REAL flying!
  23. Changed to a .zip file with a folder only, no self-installer. The craft works great so everyone get this for the Saturday sessions.
  24. There's a new aircraft provided by Stumpjumper now available on teamspeak in the "Over Flanders Fields Briefing Room". We are going to try flying one mission with it Saturday so everyone download this file, unzip it and drop the folder into your aircraft directory. If there's any aircraft mismatches we will not spend any time sorting out anyones problems. I'll simply load up the next mission and we'll continue flying. Hope to see as many of you tomorrow as is possible, and remember, if you can't make the start time drop in when you can.
  25. I'm logging on now to be available all day for checkouts. Just yell when you get here so I'll hear you if I'm in another room.
