Siggi, my best momentary pilot Juergen Mahlo from Jasta 2 is just back with his D II from what should have been an artillery mission. But the bloke always takes every chance to attack planes rather. He spotted a flight of 6 FE2b short after takeoff. As he hasn't yet got to grips with holding her really still, his shooting was rather bad. But downing two of the Fees was no big job. He could have made them three or even four, with better shooting. You'll like it! PS: actually, that would be an Albatros D I in September. But that would have meant to build another 3D model, as it looked different. We are lucky there: the forward/shooting vision was far worse than in the D II.

Yes, ditto, and she's a little beauty to watch performing. If she could have carried twin guns, I wouldn't have liked to meet her over Flanders Fields.

Hi, Davy You just have to post as much as Widowmaker, and you'll become a "valued member". Hey, Widowmaker - with "tiny", she probably describes the chances, to get some extra household money out of you?

Normal with "hard" guns vs. Hardcore with "normal guns?
Olham replied to redwolf's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
They say, the Hardcore version makes planes more difficult to down - they can take more hits. That's both, enemies, and your own plane. So, for me it was no question: I use Hardcore now. And can take more damage. The weapon effectiveness should still be good with my twin Spandaus. It's set on 'normal'. -
Siggi, as far as I know, the earliest Albatros D II is in September 1916, in Jasta 2. I fly with them. And the plane is at that time a very dangerous warcraft. If you don't turn too long with the Nupe 11, but boom and zoom rather, you can shoot any plane to pieces with your twin guns. And when they've got the speed of it right, now, it can also run away from them. No one on the Allied side has 1.000 rounds with him. The sheer extasy of toasting them all (Lol!)

Was it collisions or breaking up wings?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I knew that, off course. Only thought, there would be some warning then? Cause I can't "feel" the plane. -
Tch! - ZoomZoom, how could you? I noticed, that you should NEVER mark a plane for attack, order attack, and then attack the same plane. Cause then they do things like that, overambitious perhaps. Either give them another target (marked), and pick the next for yourself. Or keep them with you, without ordering attack at all. I did that in a furball, and pressed "R" return every now and then. They followed without colliding. When I got attacked, I pressed "H" help, and they helped. May look egoistic that way, but do THEY need kills? Why shouldn't they rather protect me. I'm the best killer of our bunch, so better I do it quick and effective (Lol!)

This is a question to Winder. My pilot with Jasta 15, in April 1918, ended up the last 3 or 4 flights with something, which I thought were mid air collisions. But, as he was diving after a SPAD each time, I'm beginning to wonder, if the lower wing of my Albatros D Va might just have broken? Would it look like a midair collision for me? Would there be no warning, that the wing vibrates too much?

Strangely quiet in western front
Olham replied to Cpt.Kremmen's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Haha! No, Widowmaker, I am in that area, but in September 1916, with Jasta 2. Better not come across our flight path, Capt.Kremmen - we LOVE toasting DH2s. He is my best pilot getting on, and just shot down 3 BE2c. But I didn't feel good with it. I mean, those poor blokes had 4 - 5 Sopwith Strutter with them, but when our flight of 5 Albatros D II appeared, they couldn't climb away fast enough, letting the BE2c's an easy target for us. I followed them, and shot down one after the other - they crashed within some 4 - 5 minutes. No, I'd say this frankly: MvR wouldn't have had reason to be too proud of such kills. Easy meat... My other pilot flies in April 1918, but he almost ends every second flight in collisions. Or could it be the lower wing breaking? I went after diving SPADs each time? Hey, I must ask Winder... -
I fly with glasses. I don't have light on near me, only sidewards of me. But it works fine. If you see red spots in the adjustment window with the three green spots of the reflector, you must switch lights off. The monitor should NOT be a problematic light source - just make the adjustments as Winder says, and you'll be fine!
-
If another nationality should be added, then the Austrian pilots. Then, the Germans wouldn't stand so alone against 4 nations, (And that way, I would get my OeFAG Albatros - the BETTER version of the Alb - Lol!)

My TAC is set to 4 miles, which is a distance, were I can see planes (at normal sunny weather). But I was attacked yesterday by Nieuports, that had hidden in a huge cloud. They were already close enough to turn red on the TAC, but didn't! Only, when they came OUT of that cloud, they were suddenly red specs. Clever, eyh? And dangerous... In your case, Siggi, it might have been a "quick diver" like SPAD XIII, coming from high above, right down on you.

Did anyone try Multiplayer via LAN yet?
Olham replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
REALLY???!!! Wow - that's another Christmas present then! We'll try as soon as possible! Thank you, Winder. Not only for this info, but for your whole "crazyness" to take up this challenge called BHaH, and for mastering it so fine! For me, you did no less but fullfilling a dream, I had since I was 15. Hope, you'll find some rest and sleep now. -
My neighbour and I would like to try co-op flights in MP, via LAN connection. It's greatest fun, to go through hell together and help each other out. Is that possible - has anyone done that yet?

Yesterday, I made me a pilot for training my air combat. He's in Jasta 15, April 1918. He is doing that in Campaign, with "die roll at death" setting. When we had the first encounter with SPAD VIIs, I realised soon, there were aces among them. Now, I allow this pilot to do all the things, that would kill the immersion, but help to understand the situations. He flies with labels on. So he can always see, which wingman is were, and who the enemies are. In my normal flights, I would have just seen a SPAD with an Indian chief's head, a red "T" on a round black spot and a yellow 11 on it. Now, I could read his name: William "Bill" Thaw from 103rd. There were also Paul Frank Baer, and Charles John Biddle. There was a total of about 10 or 12 SPADs. Now, my pilot made his first note: I KNOW, I should get out of here, if I was sane. But, to continue the training, he didn't. I panned around my plane in outer view; I marked the opponents, and switched through them, still paused. A frozen moment of air combat. I checked, how many were at my level or even higher; and who had gone lower yet. I checked, were my wingmen were, and decided to help them out. Second note: two of them three are so low now, and in such a furball - you would risk your life more than acceptable. You should not go there! But, to continue training, I did. I managed to shoot up Paul F. Baers plane so hard, it just exploded. Now, I remembered: safety first - climb a good bit again. And then: freeze again. The situation had gone worse. From my flight of 4 planes, and the other of 3, I only saw three blue labels left, and also on the TAC, within 4 miles. Third note: NOW is the very last chance you should try to make your way home! You can't make more kills here AND survive that. But, to continue training, I didn't stop. William Thaw came so wonderfully well in front of my Spandaus, I just had to hunt him down. He got badly hit, plane smoking. He did all his best zig zagging and curving, but I stuck at his tail, and he took more hits. Freeze again, and check. And there his wingman was - some 500 feet behind me, just lining in to the kill. Above me at least 5 SPADs coming down. Near me as a visible blue dot on TAC: only one German plane, further away. This is the end. I knew it, but would you give up? I managed to pull my D Va in a very steep curve, and only got hit a little. We curved like mad, and I read Biddle's name. We circled tighter and tighter, until I could hit him; three times a little. He showed effect, got "heavier". But around us, 5 SPADs now also circling. Freeze. Fourth note: you get into bloodthirst craze again and again, and will therefor die again and again. This action was only insane - not heroic. To end the story: I got hit again, plane unmanoeuverable; the sim decided to end it, before I even crashed. My whole way of fighting was idiotic from almost the beginning. There had been two SPADs further away from the rest. If I HAD to have my fight - I should have marked and chased those. But, well - it was a good lesson. I thought, I'll continue this way of learning, with this one pilot. (By the way: I had downed two SPADs - but with what use?)

German Airspeed Indicators ... missing
Olham replied to IvanK's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Although I'm none of the devs here, I'd say, that this would mean to modify the basic 3D model of the plane. So I don't think, it will be made before another later version of the sim. But, since I haveb't noticed your name before, you may be new here? So, welcome. If you really fly this sim, IvanK, you won't miss the device. This is the greatest air combat sim I have ever experienced - very realistic, and - if you want - very hard to manage to survive. The immersion of BHaH is immense - many "pilots" here are already exhausted after just one serious dogfight. Your senses are running double-speed - a-hell-of-a-lot of thrilling immersion. Something will always be found, that's missing, that could be improved. The AI's fighting intelligence surely not! Try it - you'll see: you won't even find time to look at your airspeed indicator (Lol!) Welcome again. -
Hi, Wels If you're captured, but manage to escape, you get the kills! I had that twice now; after the escape notice, I got the claim form to fill in. I'm glad somehow, that you also feel exhausted after just one serious fight. I have that quite often.
-
Well, they had to do it somehow; you had no witnesses, that's it. But maybe you can switch over to "claims easy (something)" in workshop, and may get them all confirmed then (next time).
-
Yes, good idea. I don't know any contribution I could make, but I'll join in for the guessing.
-
RICKITYCRATE: I get bloodlust. I feel I must clear the skies of enemies. As if I will single handed win the war. My god, Jim - even you? Seeing your avatar - a fine officer and gentleman - I hadn't expected that. But you named it: single handed winning the war must be the worst mistake, so many rookies made - and got toasted. I'll try to remember that. Hey, Catch - that may be my problem: I don't have any kids. (Not yet out of childhood myself, it seems...)
-
Thank you, Fates You made it look real cool. And if you'll even come up with medals soon, mine will look much better, than my actual pilots all really are (cause they're either dead, or at the beginning - no veteran yet - Should make me feel younger, eyh? Lol!)
-
Again and again I tell myself, to remain cool and reasonable before and in dogfights. But each time, I get into a furball, it's gone. Fuse melting, hunting fever breaking out. So, I did some wonderful kills of many SPADs, but I don't survive more than 3 flights in the time of mid-1917 to the end. Now, I refuse to change over to the Dr.1 or the D VII - that would be much better killer planes perhaps (the D VII for sure), but I want to install a good Albatros pilot. Now, I have three of them. Juergen Mahlo is the youngest of them, flying Albatros D II, Jasta 2, Bertincourt, Sept. 1916. Detlev Baron von Mahlo flies Albatros DIII, in Jasta 12, Epinoy, April 1917. Guenther Graf von Mahlo flies the Albatros D Va, Jasta 15, Bonneuil Ferme/Golancourt, April 1918. They are all "peeled-egg new"; all the others died; mainly in mid air collisions. I hope, one day my damn brain will switch over to "cool and reasonable", and longer lasting pilots, instead of Neanderthal outbreaks of ******** cursing. Would be better for the neighbours...

Opinion of OFF? -sorry, really noob question
Olham replied to HomeBoy's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Don't let it put you off, that you must get CFS3 first, too - everyone knows, it wasn't a masterpiece; but "Between Heaven and Hell" is right that! You can't get it any more realistic. So, if you're not into arcades, but the real difficult flying and fighting, you can't do a thing wrong, when you buy it. (And - although we don't like taht here - you COULD switch everything to "easy" even, if you wanted. But believe me - you won't!) -
Another thank you for a feature added
Olham replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thank you for posting - I haven't flown any QCs and would have missed it for quite some time. So, you lucky man have been with the team since P1 ? How did you come across P1 ? I made a websearch for WW1 sims, as I hoped, there might be one I had overlooked in the shops. I was then more than stunned about a sim so developed, without yet being in the shops. And so may be others later, as it's still not available in the shops. -
I can't quite catch Collishaw (or how I play this sim)
Olham replied to tttiger's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hey, tttiger Somewere in a post not long ago, someone wrote, how you can transfer your pilot from one Squad. to the other. It's done by changing a line in the pilot file, I think. That way, you could also try all the other aces. But does the campaign work all right, when there is a real ace Raymond Collishaw, and you use the same name?
