  1. Iron bombs so far no... it's the guided variety they seem to want to level the whole Earth with, so no bombas for them. I don't take them on strike missions due to well, lack of ability to handle terrain of the mountainous kind (which has been a whole theme in my sim career). I have seen AI bomb drops of the continous kind in the Afghanistan from SEAD missions but that's about it.
  2. Well usually you have to target the enemy, using T (or R if Red Crown calls it for you). Once you got him "targeted" you can send your wingie after him and hopefully dust him off. I've had a Mig-35 on my butt in Iraq and I was trying to get him, I think I was Winchester or something) and he wouldn't engage, after repeated "Cover my six" calls. If you use them right they can work for you, it's just getting used to their idosyncracies is sometimes frustrating. Thats why on CAS missions I give my wingie Mavericks, so he doesn't miss and expend all of the bombs on one pass. Sometimes he's got a JDAM left over due to distance missions, but overall missiles are more useful than bombs. I just don't trust my wingman with them.
  3. Lt. Cater is a good expert on wingman management, but I tend to use wingnuts so far for CAS missions only and sometimes... I want to hit Y and smoke him myself... But on the whole I tolerate them for just that mission and Armed Recon. I don't need much intelligence, just enough to hit a target so I can get a success and RTB. I wish TK would improve that aspect. Alot of people swear by them, I just swear at them.
  4. Well I got hooked on that squadron ever since I saw the Lions Head on an F-14D. It's for some reason the coolest nose art ever. Also the wonderful brothers and sisters who'll help you out when you're getting shot at for real, my hats off to all of them, or beer mug... @Slartibartfast Actually Slartibartfast I pulled off a strike mission an hour ago in the AmericanNW map, blew up the hangar, and didn't even get locked on, or fire an AAM. I tend to also stay away from a BVR fight... but I have been known to shoot first and worry about it later
  5. The problem with the addons is just solved by digging in the SF2 portion of the KB. After ten minutes you can have an SF2 compliant addon, but even then you can run old SF1 stuff on it, just none of the "cool" features that SF2 allows you to do. Reason most people don't convert much is that it seems hard, which it isn't. Another thing, which admittedly got me, is that sheer number, so every so often I'll drop it in SF2, and adapt it as I go along, and been lazy on uploading some of them.
  6. That's always good to hear
  7. I tend to fly USN for the most part. Got hooked on VF/VFA-213 and just got stuck on that squadron, so I'll fly other squadrons, but mainly that one. But as far as other countries? Not particularly care, just as long as I got "SJ" on the Mud Hen when I fly it.
  8. No problem!
  9. lol Afghanistan is hardly the vacation flight but hey whatever floats your boat
  10. Click on Create Mission, select your bird, year, mission (Strike), terrain (Range) on down, and then at the bottom right, click "Accept"
  11. Well... looks isn't what I care about her to be honest with you Was going to title "Bringing the Pain" but I nearly got spiked by 20 Stingers so it'll be A Flying Pain.
  12. Probably, as an Ensign in the US Navy is a 2nd Lieutenant in the USAF.
  13. From what I understand yes, it shouldn't show up again.
  14. Nice story vicar
  15. Oh nice, thank you very much!
  16. Agreed with the 33, you have to maintain energy in order for it to move right, but then again I've enjoyed the 33 since Flanker 2.51, and I've been a dogfight (mainly for tutorials, I prefer BVR) with an F-16. I've come out on top, but since I mainly dropped bombs, it was just Sierra Hotel for that.
  17. Good stuff man, I remember USAFMTL or somebody else (and reading the readme) that it was making the switch, in order to cut down on filesizes.
  18. It shouldn't be any different from SF2E only in that it to work, you have to use CatPack to extract the IsraeliME textures from WOI (IsraeliME.cat), and put all that in the Afghanistan folder. I don't have SF2I installed so you can try that route using that .cat file. If you have WOI then do as previously described.
  19. Supporting the Troops
  20. Now if you could tune the AI to drop one bomb instead of all that'd be nice too
  21. Again much thanks Gepard!
  22. Its probably personal taste versus the actual benefits TrackIR gives. I can vouch for that personally as I've known it's been out for a couple years, but haven't gotten around to getting it. Sure it is a great help, but honestly I'm surviving fine without it so there's not much negativity, its just some people are used to one way and don't feel the need to buy it.
  23. Sent. Like LOMAC you can replace certain files without having to touch the core files, which helps to save alot of "Whooops!" issues.
  24. Hehe yeah, I mean more that you can't expect as much as those sims are concerned As far as visibility and view mods, Silverbolt has one in the SF1 section that you can put in the Flight folder and it'll give you some more stuff to play with. I had to take some time to configure it so I could see the HSI on the Super Hornet cockpit, but if you have SF2 I can send what I have and you have to put that in the Flight folder in your User/Saved Games/Thirdwire/SF2 Game you bought/Flight folder and it'll help with some of the issues you're having. It can be tweaked to your preferences.
  25. As a former LOMAC flyer, the TW series of sims is less complex than IL-2 or LOMAC as of yet. Pretty much the intent of the game is to fly spiffy planes around and such. Thirdwire, if I understand their Facebook profile, is like 4 guys. So they don't have the development team that 1:C and Eagle Dynamics does, so you have to roll with it. It's getting complex don't get me wrong, but take the game as it is, and just roll with it.
