  1. OK, it sounds challenging. I went back and looked at my reference materials and I remember the Nieuports with the circular opening in the top wing. Unfortunately, the real world is getting more demanding so I probably won't be able to tackle a new plane for a while. I have some things in progress and I'll try to finish them first.
  2. I always thought of the 12 as being a 2 seat version of the 10. Still, a lightly armed version, with a rifle for the observer, would be fun to have. I'll add it to my list...
  3. Wrench - thanks for fixing my double post! The website you mentioned looks like it would be a good resource for squadron and personal markings as well as for national insignia. Quack - Yes, I duplicated my Eastern Front and started a post-war install this morning. Gambit - Thanks for the inspiration. Gepard - You mentioned a Baltic terrain. That would be a welcome addition to First Eagles. Are you planning to finish it?
  4. Most of the planes used at the end of WWI were used in the Russian Civil War. And many of the planes developed at the end of the war were used, including the DH9's, and the Fokker D.VIII. I have come across some good resources for people who are interested in making post-war skins. The World at War website has articles from Chandelle magazine which include many profile drawings for post-war planes: White Russian planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n3/whitfalc.html Polish planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n2/whitpole.html Communist planes- http://worldatwar.net/chandelle/v2/v2n1/redfighter.html The WWIAviation website has profiles by W.I.Boucher for many nations and many planes (use the Table of Contents to find pages for Russia, Poland, Estonia, and Greece): http://www.wwiaviation.com/gallery.html The Wings Palette Catalog page has links to individual profiles sorted by war and by nation (post war conflicts at the bottom of the page): http://wp.scn.ru/en/cat/wars/ww1
  5. Back in October, Gambit168 started a thread about the Russian Civil War. That thread motivated me to finish a project I had started many months before. Today I uploaded decals for 10 post war nations. (They are in the skins area, under "Other Entente Aircraft".) I have decal sets for - Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia. I have included all the variations that I am aware of. I also included variations for the Bolshevik markings. There are about 30 decals in all, sorted by nation. You will probably need to tweak the decal ini's when you use these - how they reverse from side to side changes for each nation, and the horizontal stripes will need to be adjusted. I have included notes for how and when they were used, and I included a lot of screen captures. Insignia for some nations are already included in First Eagles - Poland = nation 013 - Soviet Russia = nation 012 - White Russia uses the Imperial Russian insignia = nation 011.
  6. View File Decals for Post War Nations Fighting continued in Eastern Europe and Russia for many years after the end of World War I. These decals are the insignia of many of the nations that were formed in the closing days of the war. Most of them fought against the Bolsheviks in the Russian Civil Wars, but many of them also fought each other at one time or another. I have included decals for - Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia. Many nations did not have standardized insignia at first and I have included variations for many of the nations. I have included a text document with notes on how and when they were used. To use these, you will probably need to tweak the decal ini's for existing planes. How and when insignia are reversed on opposite sides of the plane changes from nation to nation, and the horizontal tail stripes will need to be adjusted. Terms of Use You may use these decals for your own personal use. You may include these decals with any skins you upload for First Eagles at Combat Ace. Please give me credit. You may NOT include these decals with skins you upload at any other site. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 01/26/2013 Category Other Entente Aircraft Skins

  8. Today I started uploaded new versions of the SPAD A2, Vickers FB5, and the Voisin LAS 2 Pac. Ojcar has created new FMs which make the AI planes more aggressive in fighting. In all these planes, there is a gunner in front, but the pilot is unarmed. The AI pilot just flies his mission and leaves attack up to the AI gunner. Ojcar has added a dummy machine gun, which doesn't show and doesn't do any damage, but now the AI pilot thinks he's armed and tries harder to pursue enemy planes. I have also taken the opportunity to tweak some of the sounds, skins, etc. for these planes. The new versions are in the same place as the original uploads - The SPAD is in the Downloads/Aircraft/SPAD section - the others are in the Other Entente Aircraft section.
  9. Yes, I'm working on them. Ojcar has sent me upgrades for 4 other planes. I'll upload soon.
  10. Today I uploaded new versions of the Nieuport 10 and the Nieuport 12. Ojcar made new FMs which improve the performance and fix some of the problems with the earlier versions. I have also added one of Nix's engine sounds to the Nieuport 12. Thanks to Panama Red for testing the new FMs.
  11. I have uploaded a new version of the Eastern Front Campaigns. It includes some of the new planes, skins, and ground objects which have become available since version 1 was uploaded. And it fixes the problems with squadrons and ground units in version 1. Oscar has created an FM that converts the stock Albatros DIII OAW into an Austrian Albatros DIII OEF. I have included it, along with a skin from Sinbad in the download. There are also new start screens for the campaigns. I have also included instructions to upgrade from version 1 so you don't have to do a complete re-install if you've already downloaded the first version.
  12. I think the D.III had ailerons, while the D.II used wing warping. That would mean changing the mesh and re-skinning the wings, so it will take a while. In the meantime, if ojcar wants to make an FM to convert the D.II that would be fine with me.
  13. Sorry about the broken compass, I made some changes to the cockpit at the last minute and didn't update the ini file. I have uploaded a corrected version. For those of you who have already downloaded the plane. here is a new ini file with the corrections. Use this to replace the original cockpit.ini. I also increased the head movement, but not as much as 33Lima suggested. From 185 to -185 means you're turning more than 360, which I don't think was possible with a shoulder harness. I only went from 170 to -170. Of course, you can modify the settings to fit your own preferences. FokkerD2CockpitINI.zip
  14. View File Fokker D.II The Fokker D.II was intended to be a replacement for the Eindeckers. It carried a single machine gun and used wing warping instead of ailerons. Production of the plane was slow and by the time large number were available, it had been outclassed by the Nieuport 11s. However it was used on the Eastern Front until late 1917. I have made three skins for the D.II - a green paint, a two color camo, and a three color camo. I have also incuded a complete set of (ficitious) serial numbers for German planes. I have included my skinning templates for those who wish to make different skins. Credits My thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Fokker D.II. Also, my thanks to Nix who provided the sound file for the Oberursel 100hp engine. Installation Instructions For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folders named "FokkerD2" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "OberurselUI.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "FokkerD2" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "FokkerD2". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/FokkerD2 folder into the Decals/FokkerD2 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "OberurselUI.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder. Submitter Stephen1918 Submitted 01/03/2013 Category Fokker

  16. Happy 2013 everyone!
  17. I'm very interested in all kinds of history. First Eagles is a good way for me to satisfy my interest in WWI. The 3D models on my website were made before I was introduced to First Eagles. The file sizes are way too big for the game. Reducing the file size is so time consuming that it's almost easier to make a plane from scratch. I've converted a few and I'll probably convert more in time, but not yet...
  18. Today I uploaded a new version of the Galicia - Eastern Front terrain. This version includes SpinyNorman's Air Raid Warning Ambulances on all the airfields and fixes a lot of little problems I discovered in the first version. I also changed some of the ini files to make the terrain more compatible with the Eastern Front campaign.
  19. Great work! Thanks Quack!
  20. Thank you Quack! Happy Holidays to all my friends at Combat Ace!
  21. I've uploaded a new version of the Albatros D.II. This one incorporates ojcar's improved FM. I have played a little with the fuselage, but I couldn't do much without having to re-skin the fuselage or re-rig the whole plane. I trimmed the width a centimeter or two between the pilot and the tail. I also played with the skin for the gun. It's an improvement, but the end of the gun sleeve still shows through the sides a little bit.
  22. I have ojcar's hotfix FM. I'm getting ready to upload a new version of the Albatros D.II. I've been working on the gun skins to resolve the issue that 33Lima pointed out. I've made some improvement, but it's still there sometimes. I'm using a .tga file to make the holes in the gun sleeve and the transparency messes up in some lighting, I can't get rid of it completely. Before I upload the revision, has anyone come across any other issues I should look at?
  23. First, thanks for all the good comments. I focusing on getting new planes for the Eastern Front campaigns, then I'll go back to making other planes, like the BE2c, or e. I have quite a few planes on my to-do list and I'll get to them all sooner or later. Second, I've been trying to recreate the take off problems that Quack reported. I've been having good take offs, even with the AI flying, and even in Hard mode. But I notice that the plane leaves the ground quite steeply, then levels off a bit, then resumes climbing. I wonder if the plane is stalling under certain conditions and noses into the ground. I've been playing with the [AIData] Pitch settings, but nothing to report yet.
  24. I have uploaded the Albatros D.II. The download includes an early version with the radiators on the side, and a late version with the radiator in the upper wing. The skins for both versions are interchangeable. I included two skins and a set of personal marking decals for each plane. My thanks to ojcar for making the FM and to Nix for his engine sound file.
