Battle of Britain Terrain by Gepard

Here is a screenshot and the bitmap for the building tods. http://s1168.beta.photobucket.com/user/baffmeister/media/img00004-1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=0 http://s1168.beta.photobucket.com/user/baffmeister/media/TEROBJECT_BUILDINGS5.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1 The very large rectangular building I would like to downsize. I have done a bit of experimenting with the stock TW tods and by importing and re-naming Gepards tiles into the stock desert terrain I can re-tod the tiles. The problem is, to re-tod with the new buildings I will need the appropriate object map to add to the texture list. Stock TW example: [ObjectMap001] MapFilename=terobject_buildings1.bmp MapClass=0 ObjectTypeCount=7 ObjectType001.ObjectName=BoxBuilding1 ObjectType001.ShapeType=0 ObjectType001.CastShadow=0 ObjectType001.SizeDeviation=0.000000 ObjectType001.Width1=15.000000 ObjectType001.Length1=15.000000 ObjectType001.Height1=15.000000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord01=0.000000,0.500000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord11=0.250000,0.750000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord02=0.250000,0.500000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord12=0.500000,0.750000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord03=0.500000,0.500000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord13=0.750000,0.750000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord04=0.250000,0.500000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord14=0.500000,0.750000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord05=0.000000,0.250000 ObjectType001.TextureCoord15=0.125000,0.375000 ObjectType002.ObjectName=BoxBuilding2 ObjectType002.ShapeType=0 ObjectType002.CastShadow=0 ObjectType002.SizeDeviation=0.000000 ObjectType002.Width1=20.000000 ObjectType002.Length1=20.000000 ObjectType002.Height1=20.000000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord01=0.500000,0.000000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord11=0.750000,0.250000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord02=0.750000,0.000000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord12=1.000000,0.250000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord03=0.750000,0.000000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord13=1.000000,0.250000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord04=1.000000,0.000000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord14=0.750000,0.250000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord05=0.125000,0.250000 ObjectType002.TextureCoord15=0.250000,0.375000 Anyone have the object map for those Tod's? -

After installing Mauricepiesligeros file you will notice a folder called Kibuz&klein. If you copy and paste the contents of the Kibuz&Klein folder into the BofB terrain folder it will improve the look of the countryside quite a bit. I'm going to take a careful look at this terrain and see if I can do some further updates for it. I would like to re-tod the city tiles to improve the placement of the building tods as well as add in some new building objects and change the airfields quite a bit but that will take quite a bit of time. Expect some tod related questions soon! -
Don't forget to grab some altitude when outside of the danger zone, you will get much better fuel economy.

View File Yak-3 SF-2 Update A basic update for Pasko' s Yak-3. Included: The original Normandie-Nieman skins for WW-2 use and the original Yugoslav skins for post war use, both changed to JPEG format. The original Klimov engine sound. The original Yak-3 pit with some ini edits. A Soviet WW-2 Pilot. A new SF-2 compliant FM. The FM will probably work in SF-1 installs at the final patch level but hasn't been tested. CREDITS: PASKO for the model and skins. KESSELBUT for the Yak-3 cockpit. BAFFMEISTER, STARFIGHTER and THIRDWIRE for the Flight Model. I got the Soviet WW-2 pilot from WRENCH but not sure who made it. Install instructions and more info included in the Read Me. WAIVERS: For freeware use only, commercial use not permitted! Submitter baffmeister Submitted 11/24/2012 Category Soviet Origin

Found an interesting and possibly overlooked file that puts more Tod's on Gepards BoB terrain. The update file was done by Mauricepiesligeros and is in Spanish so may have been missed by many. Install procedure is to Install Gepards terrain first and then dump the entire contents of Mauricepiesligeros folder into Gepards BoB terrain folder and let everything overwrite. It adds a lot more building tods to the cities as well as larger and better placed trees in the countryside. The downside is some of the historical building objects get partly covered by the new building tods but there looks like enough open areas to move the historical objects around a bit so they have their own space. Here's a link to Mauricepiesligeros file: http://combatace.com/files/file/9383-buildingstrees-for-battle-of-britain-v11/

Any FM's I do can be switched to new models relatively quickly. From my own perspective, I can make do with older models but would really like to see more types available at this site. German bombers and a BF-110 would be at the top of my list. Will check out Pasko's Ju-87. I have Gepards BoB terrain installed as well and like the textures quite a bit. It has some nice historical objects as well but seems to be missing Tod's on some tiles. Maybe I installed it wrong. After running the BofB2 game for awhile I think some of the airfields on gepards terrain could be INI only with just grass tile texture as the landing area. The BofB2 game might be a good reference source for airfield locations as well. Probably the main thing to remember is 3D model builders are a rare breed so I just hope they build whatever makes them happy!

Any Battle of Britain models you care to make I would like to do FM's for. I think the Spitfire1 is well covered now with the TMF/Wrench upload and I hope for a Hurricane1 from Raven at some point. Russo's BF-109 E-3/4 still look good to me and I am trying to build new FM's for those two but it's proving a bit difficult although some progress being made. My wish list would be for new BofB German bombers and a new BF-110.

Gave it a shot but no-go. I did come up with a way to operate the Viggen Canard Flap with the landing gear though. I think this method will be useful to anyone that wants to attach an animation to the gear operation. It's called "THE FAKE SKID METHOD." [patent pending] Here is what I did to get the flap to move with the gear: [LeftFlapAnimation] SystemType=LANDING_GEAR Retractable=TRUE DeployTime=5.0 MaxDeflection=-30.0 MinDeflection=0.0 AnimationID=10 IsSkid=TRUE Steerable=FALSE HasBrakes=FALSE NoContactOnGround=TRUE//..............this is important to prevent some odd behavior. ModelNodeName=Elevator_L ReverseModelOrientation=TRUE I tried to attach some aerodynamic entries to this data but it didn't work. To get some actual lift from the flap I had to add some entries for a fake flap so am still stuck with the AUTOMATIC_SPEED deployment method for the aerodynamic effect: [LeftFlap] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CLiftdc=0.5 CDdc=0.055 Cmdc=0.020 DeltaStallAlpha=-2.73 AreaRatio=1.00 DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED Setting[1].Angle=30.0 Setting[1].DeployValue=87.5 Setting[1].RetractValue=92.5 MaxDeflection=30.0 MinDeflection=0.0 AnimationID= ControlRate=0.2 ModelNodeName= ReverseModelOrientation= Hopefully, no unexpected problems turn up.

It's for a new [old] Viggen. Thanks for the info Russ.
-
Was wondering if there is a data entry that will extend/retract the flaps with the landing gear. [LeftFlap] SystemType=HIGHLIFT_DEVICE CLiftdc=0.3 CDdc=0.035 Cmdc=0.020 DeltaStallAlpha=-2.73 AreaRatio=1.00 DeploymentMethod=AUTOMATIC_SPEED.......using this for now. I suspect there is no entry that will operate the flaps with the gear but if anyone has an idea for a workaround I would like to hear about it because I can't come up with anything that works!

The beta 0.8 FM has some bad stall/spin characteristics that I am trying to get rid of. From anecdotal information I think the WW2 Yaks had good flying qualities so the final version will be more controllable when flying on the edge. Planning to release a new FM for Cocas' Yak-9P as well when I get things figured out.
-
Thanks Wilches. Will be sending the beta test "package" to you in a few days.
-
SF-2 Yak-3 beta 0.8 FM attached. The nation name is set to WWII Soviet but hopefully when I get the full package uploaded it should work in a WWII or stock install. There is a rather generic looking grey skin in Paskos original package that may be good for post war use. This version can no longer carry bombs or drop tanks. A few minor bug fixes. The new aerodynamics is mainly data imported from Cocas' Yak-9P. I hope to get a new Yak-3 SF-2 package uploaded in a couple of weeks but it will be very basic. Yak-3_DATA0.8.zip

Wonderful, thank you!

I always liked Ginger, she seemed kind of slutty. [in an attractive way.] Off topic: Agree about the bombers. Most folks would probably be happy with AI only WW-2 bombers with somewhat generic FM's, as long as the cruise speeds, altitudes, and roll rates were somewhat realistic. Maybe a few exceptions for some planes [A-26 comes to mind] with realistic cockpits.
-
Excellent! I was hoping some computo-genius would increase productivity! Wilches, I will use the Yak-9P engine table [from Brain32] but will just release a beta0.8 FM for "do it yourselfers." If you or anyone else wants to put together a new SF-2 Yak-3 package just shoot me a PM. Cheers.
-
Soulfreak, do you have a Yak-3 data.ini with the individual data lines seperated? It would save me some work because the original Data.ini has all the lines combined together. Wilches, I will try to make the FM as realistic as possible but it won't be HiFi but hopefully "somewhat realistic." One of the big problems I have is finding engine horsepower at altitude so if you have any engine data please pass it along. I hope to have an SF-2 WW2 install eventually so don't mind working on some of the older WW2 models now and then. [so many planes! ]
-
I may be able to put together a new Yak-3 FM quite quickly, will take a look.
-
Unfortunately, the Yaks will also use the airbases designated LARGE. Although it would be nice if there was an entry for MAXbase size=XXX.
-
GOOD LUCK!

I haven't flown it for awhile but I think the AvHistory P-51 FM bleeds less speed in the turns. Probably not an easy task to transfer the AvHistory FM to the TW model although I think Fubar did just that for his own use.
