*INSERTD 11/20/02* This is a repaint of the stock USNGrey1 skin depicting an F-4J Phantom II of VF-96 "Fighting Falcons" while deployed aboard the USS Constellation in 1972. It is designed to complement the VF-96 "Showtime 100" skin I released earlier so that your entire flight can wear the VF-96 colors without all flying aircraft 100! On the loadout screen, assign yourself the Showtime 100 skin, and assign all fo the other aircraft in your flight this skin.

  8. I'm not able to reproduce the problem, so I can't offer any decent suggestions right now. Perhaps if anyone else is having the same problem they will post here so we can get to the bottom of it. Could you post a screenshot?
  9. Thanks. All I want is for the Yak to behave fairly realistically when I encounter it on a fighter sweep or escort mission. Of course, the Yak on MY hard drive does...and is still very challenging when flying a fighter with no RWR or BVR capabilities... :D
  10. We aren't talking about reality or perfection. We are talking about a semblance of relistic performance relative to one another. Why don't you just make an X-Wing fighter and import it into the game. It will be just as realistic as a dogfighting Yak.
  11. I'm not going to pretend to understand why anyone would want a plane that doesn't perform roughly as its real-life counterpart did, but to each his own.
  12. Well, the Yak is somewhat more maneuverable than it should be. Don't take this as a slam against anybody who worked on it, becasue that isn't my intention. In real life, the Yak-25/26/27/28 series were designed as interceptors who's main targets would presumably be NATO bombers. Speed, range, and the ability to carry a large, heavy radar were the primary design considerations, and agility was sacrificed to achieve this. In fact, the Yak-28 had structural problems and any sort of aerobatics was forbidden. I can't remember, but I think the G-limit they imposed was 3, to keep the aircraft form breaking up due to stress fractures. The Aerofax volume on Yakovlev Twin-Jets is an excellent resource on these planes for anyone interested.
  13. Hmmm. Might be a problem with one of the low-detail LODs. That would explain why it only occurs when you zoom out. I haven't noticed this myself, but I'll test for it and see if I can reproduce it.
  14. Is that suprising when you can hire Russian programmers and engineers for peanuts? Testing is in full swing, I've been up till 4am most days trying to spot bugs, reproduce and report them. Have some patients, this final stretch will make all the difference. Cheers LOL. I've got the champaigne on ice now so it will be ready at a moments notice. Its that close. Actually had my thumb on the cork Sunday but a couple of problems cropped up...
  15. This is a real shame.
  16. It is now also available at Avsim: http://www.avism.com There is a story and link on the main page.
  17. Hi Chief! I PMed you about this very skin a few days ago. Bananmal is interested in doing it. Drop me a line at dpwms at yahoo dot com so I can hook you two up.
  18. Viper, email me: dpwms at yahoo dot com
  19. Nice pics! Looks like I got pretty close on that VA-83...
  20. You are all a bunch of freak thugs. And MadJeff is a dirty hax0r with nothing better to do than hax0r poor GT's ICQ block.
  21. Jeff's evidence certainly looks damning. My question is, why would someone create an alias, and then post that their alias had 'died' in Iraq? That's just bizarre...sick, even.
  22. Thanks! I'll see what I can do with that JPG. Looks like the fuselage stripe is blue and white instead of yellow and blue, and the Ram's head is completely different...
  23. Thank you both for your efforts and posting the facts about the F-86 to Fury link tried to find the fourm posting ,but had someone try to say they were linked as developed aircraft I had even stated that the Fury was a Navalized version of the F-86,but was told I was wrong (lol dont even rember who it was that said I was wrong) No problem. Technically you are both right, though. The early Fury (FJ-2 and FJ-3) was pretty close to the F-86, but later models like the FJ-4 were almost completely new aircraft.
  24. Scout, the VF-53 skin comes with the plane. It is available at my site (link in sig). I will post the US Navy Grey template soon as well. Also, let me point out that the skin was made with DanW's original F-86 template, so mad props to him. Eric, the A-7 is still being worked on (I just finished another set of squadron markings for it last week). If I had to guess, I'd say it will be ready in the September-October time frame.
