  1. Never mind. The map distance coordinates seem to indicate 1000km theoretical map size. So no change there, unless those are N.M. boxes thus making the map significantly larger.
  2. Interesting. What is the new game map size?
  3. Woa, supersonic topic there Jug. Dedicated website on this ~> http://www.spyflight.co.uk/main.htm Shot down planes is the nature of the spyplane business. Some of the most amazing history is still hidden high above the cirrus in the Siberian sky. It seems Soviet air defence squadrons were, in general, not very aggressive, in some cases very timid, and I am partially reminded of the unchallenged pre-invasion Luftwaffe recon flights. After the June 1941 invasion, ramming with attempted bailout -- not "kamikazi" -- using older aircraft became a common tactic that cost irreplacable Luftwaffe bomber and recon crews. One of the most interesting I stumbled over is: They couldn't wait for U-2 so, before TK/Thudwire added...er...before North American added air refueling to F-100, they made a half dozen unarmed RF-100A with four drop tanks for afterburning photodash over USSR. RF-100A ~> http://www.spyflight.co.uk/f100.htm Pretty smooth.
  4. Actually, North American F-93 ~> http://www.vectorsite.net/avf86_1.html#m6 Its not too far off, if you know how to use your imagination or meds. And you all know I'm an F-93~esque kinda fella. Yes I've thought about this. Okay alright already I'll tell TIMMIE TIMMIE and we'll get this up. Sheesch. ALL THE GOOD LOOKS are Timmy's work alone. I failed at the data work for lack of time and totally different sim goals, and a panic retreat back to Patch2006. This won't have any 2008 features.
  5. You need the more recent Microsoft DirectX stuff.
  6. Man this is AwSim veltro!! I read they sat alert on the grass airfield under umbrellas for the aircrew. Grass sprayed with hardener. What a life eh?...for the air crew not the lawn mower crews.
  7. Both Timmy and I ran out of time. The model is phantastic, the FM needs work but its working at least. Toned down F-4E avionics for radar gunfire. There's a not too bad medium speed FM oscillation I don't have time to track down, and I want to. If any of you wish to play with the FM, avionics, -A version loadouts, etc...I can releace this soon as simple J-32B interceptor version. Rb24 missile in weapon pac already. Timmy says the 3D model and templates are available if someone wants to do extra things to the model. I can only do some basic beta work for now on this. For my strategic campaign purposes, I eventually -- a few years at this rate -- plan to gut every SAC, RAF, PVO, and now Flygvapnet flight model and start all over, optimizing CPU framerates for multi-hundreds of aircraft across a 6000km map, plus flak and SAMs. That is not normal gaming for you fellas/fellattes so I'll keep that to myself. But, because of that, I never learned how to incorporate an aircraft model into the game for "normal" or stock gaming, and I never will. I only use the sim for my own one purpose. Timmy silver skin
  8. Thanks. Include weather and you got, The Mailman.
  9. lol I don't think I want to know.
  10. I think the poaster was to some degree, saying, we install the tin pot dictators...lol.
  11. Years ago a private flight school I trained at left keys in the Cessnas at night, planes ready to fly. I thought it was dumb at the time. Have people who rent the planes drop the key in a secure drop box or something at least. But hey, used to be people in many parts could leave front doors unlocked all the time so lala.
  12. Happens everywhere. Some years back I saw a, I think, Wall Street Journal article about some guy in India who dissolved kids in barrels of acid. Got maybe 18 or so before he got caught. Maybe ghostrider knows about that, if true.
  13. eeeh, probably lonely 22yo boy. Urinating dog triggered argument resulting in 3 officers' deaths ~> http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117815
  14. They only made about a hundred B-58s before their numbers were cut just as quickly. That plane was one that could impress folks. If they need an F-15 replacement for a hot no-rules airwar, they can start building Lockheed F-12 or NAA F-108, or more current and far more advanced derivatives of them.
  15. MiG-3 was out of service by 1942, maybe some left way behind the front in 1943. More here, alot more, a bit much perhaps ~> http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/index.html A more gentle introduction, Misfit Migs by Jason Long ~> http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/2072/mig.html BUTT -- you might could fantasize your campaign with prototype "Super MiG-3s" like I-224 or I-225. These are not MiG-3s, but designed for the same role. Need a modder to make them though. More about them here ~> http://wp.scn.ru/mig_okb/planes-exp-i224 ... engines never were fully developed though.
  16. *- most of the killer lexx_luther effects look best with the old patch. Such as?? I was afraid of this. I retreated with tail between LeGGs to old patch. One thing I recall before the retreat: Enviro sun and sunglare sizes should be doubled in the new patch. Air-Air is better, but didn't offer anything new that was useful. The tragedy I recall -- radar BVR engagement is for radar homing missiles only -- if the fighter has no RH missiles, the radar won't see anything, and so will do nothing. This prevents the new feature from simulating night intercepts with IR missiles, rockets, or guns only. The only fix I could theorize was add a few "fake" no-mass no-drag no-warhead RH missiles, having a certain minimum range, to every radar equipped fighter, such as Me-110 and Mosquito, which if they got close enough, would then switch to guns (or IRM or rockets).
  17. (they usually went AF) hehe good filtration device. I always said that hischool football was the first line filter for the Navy. So many guys told me...they say the same thing. "I was gonna fly Tomcats but I messed up my knees"
  18. OUCH ... most effective Air Force recruiting video. In the first video, the Phantom flying low...just blows up big time? Any ideas there? Thanks for sharing.
  19. Good place to learn ~> http://forums.officer.com/forums/ Two weird things I saw right off the bat at Dave's initial MSM link.... What about the domestic violence call? Was that just a trap, or did the wife/gf/bf/wf(whatever f), if any, make the call -- was the call a fake? And "assault rifle" is standard for this standardized sub-professional level of reporting. That's why I never read the MSM anymore -- never. Goto the link above. They have a subforum for military police (Go ServerEnforcer)
  20. Just klick anywhere else in the box and it takes you to the video site. The last takeoff part was most interesting. Seeing the previous jet exhaust way out front of the pilots.
  21. Well, just kidding there...somewhat. TK did disable the ability to see the map edges, and I only half jokingly assume after I brought attention to it. I like the ability, as it allows for full map usage, especially if you run huge horizon distance...for me, 200 to 300 km. For a thousand km map, 300km horizon distance means the map is only 400km in usable size.
  22. jarhead:: Oh man yes its possible in the sim. You poasted about planets. Like our brief 3D cloud discussion, you can make huge round 3D objects and float them in space like WW1 balloons. The moon is 1740km radius. You can get as close as you want to them -- "landing" -- but it would involve tricking the sim. It can be done, but requires New Thinking hehe. Anybody ever think of Cold War recon balloons? Hell no!!! Just don't let TK see it, or he will disable it next Patch.
  23. B-45 much more Windows friendly!! The Real Tornado
