I find the effect on desert terrain to be way too much bright... Any idea of tweaks?

Well, having difficulties as the reds in the 80's is more or less historical. Western technology was way ahead, except for the close range missiles which were a very bad surprise when the Luftwaffe tested them.

I am sure some of you guys like to play as the baddies. I am most curious to hear about your survival tactics and your combat strategies while flying MiG 21 & 23 against more formidable western opponents. Or at least better armed ones when it comes to dogfighting. Hitting the deck to escape the F-15's AIM-7 sparrows more or less do the trick. But does anyone have a suggestion for those pesky sidewinders? I find it quite gamey, but I manage to come within visual range most of the time, flying at tree-top level. But the dogfight is my main issue. How the heck can I counter these AIM-9L/M?! Actually, the question is valid against Russian/Soviet 4th generation too, 1990's Black Sea is a dangerous airspace as well, even in a F-14/F-15.

Well... Which missiles were the Cruse using? By the way: - it's the AI, it did not really used the Mirage speed advantage and entered a turning fight. - The AI is a terrible, terrible shot with guns. - I assume you had AIM-9E, or something like that, given your missile success ratio. So the fight was IMHO a little bit unfair.

Indeed. As soon as I get AIM-9C/E, I am far less cautious against turning fighters and they are usually mauled out of the skies even by friendly AI. AIM-9B being now totally useless, classic dogfights are mandatory. Not with newer missiles.

I hate coming accross hunters. I handle my mirage quite well against MiG 17 & 21, but I'm carefull as hell against hunters.

I had strange occurences with myself too. Not especially with Korea, though. Was shot down above ennemy territory without having the opportunity to eject and I was able to resume the campaign. It might be the same thing.
