Roger that - Happy 242nd Leathernecks! Looking forward to 242 more!

O.K., I got your message - Real Life™ has me out here in Ohio with a bunch of less-than-desirable weather blocking my way back to Hampton Roads. I'll see if I can rustle up some face shots of the Blaine Rawlings character after I get back in tomorrow late afternoon/early evening. Trailing per your request, Geezer - all are of James Franco as he appeared in "Flyboys":

Congratulations are in order...

Good job, VonS! Your hard work is appreciated! -
So, with a Nieuport 17 in the hopper, what's the chances of seeing a celebrity pilot for the Aéronautique Militaire? Perhaps this guy?

All of those defensive postures help the cause, and AV is an absolute necessity - you need to keep your protection current. But also important is to be sure your backup and restoration media are loaded with recent versions of your data and not routinely connected to your machine(s). And when the inevitable (either from a mechanical hardware failure of a drive, or a software issue/problem from a bona fide provider, or the malicious hack of your system by some outsider) happens, I can speak from personal experience that a comprehensive system image folder has saved my a$$ on a couple of occasions over the past five years...

From "Short Final" of this morning's AvWeb e-zine - rang a faint bell for me (CG 6043 is a Sikorsky MH-60T out of CGAS Sitka): The fall at Juneau Airport, where I’m a controller, generally sees pretty gross days, rain and lots of wind. One day we had six miles of visibility and winds of more than 25 knots and gusts more than 30. I was working a Coast Guard helicopter out and it occurred to me that I never really see those guys when the weather was nice. I figured I'd ask why: Tower: CG 6043 frequency change approved, you guys have time for a question? CG pilot: Frequency change approved and go ahead... Tower: You guys ever fly in nice weather? CG pilot: No. Jeremy Horton

Will this historically significant skin be in the D.III collection?

Be interested to try your revised flight model out, Von S - thank you! Note that using the G4 as a dive bomber is about the only way I can put ordnance anywhere close to on target unless I'm mostly lucky with my release point. I pull the power way back and use the props as speed brakes to better manage the aircraft's diving velocity...at least that's the way it generally works...

I'm not much of a bomber pilot when it comes to hitting a designated target, but this is a new avenue I'm occasionally following to enjoy some of the alternative scenarios available in FE2. I'm continually surprised at how well (given the time frame and available technology) the models handle and your addition to the simulation makes more of that experience possible. Thank you!

Very impressive, Geezer - top shelf stuff. It's so well done I might have second thoughts about squeezing the trigger when I've got your model in my gunsight!

Sort of thought I'd see something like this in the "What If" sections! Interesting link to the Popular Mechanics article below pix: http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a28288/hawkeye-humvee-mounted-howitzer/?src=nl&mag=rdt&list=nl_rdt_news&date=092117

...all seems to fit the qualifications for "Second-luckiest Pilot"!

Are you going to watch Tom Cruises new movie American Made?

Looks a little more interesting than "flying dog$#!+ out of Hong Kong" - I'm in! -
Not quite sure of the pre-video circumstances caught by the security camera, but it looks like the Skyhawk lost power during take-off and collided with the tree just as it was beginning to stall out. The impact causes the tree to break, cushioning the aircraft into an upright landing in the parking lot, and the pilot sustains no injuries! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdO7Ag_j-9E Brings to mind the old adage: "A good landing is one you walk away from, and a great landing is one where the airplane can be used again"!

Only a few seconds of video, less than a second for the aircraft - ever wanna see what 500+ knots looks like from 100' away?

Another one of those incredible careers it seems you can only dream about! About ten years ago there was a documentary on "The Wrecking Crew" and the back-up studio work they did for a wide variety of big-name musical groups during the 1960's and 1970's - well worth your while if you get a chance to see it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wrecking_Crew_(2008_film)

I'm glad you told me who this guy in FE2 is, 33LIMA! Twice I had my Spandaus lined up to take him out, and both times my guns jammed!

Just wondering - can the observer/rifleman be installed in the Farman HF.20 or Fokker M.7/B.1 model?
-
A couple more: Gravity is not just a good idea. It's the law - and it's not subject to appeal. When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No one has ever collided with the sky.

Those guys have such a great sense of purpose...!
