Saw this news report today and made me laugh - it mentions that Japan scrambled 22 Jets to intercept a Russian "Bear". I think this may be a typo (or just complete BS) - or do you think that they wanted to outdo the rest of the world by getting a photo with 21 jets flying alongside a tu-95 from: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7236241.stm Japan accuses Russia of incursion Japan has accused Russia of violating its airspace over the Pacific Izu islands and demanded an explanation. A Russian Tupolev 95 bomber flew for about three minutes over the isle of Sofugan, 650km (400 miles) south of Tokyo, Japanese officials said. Japan responded by scrambling 22 jets and lodging an official protest with the Russian embassy. But a spokesman for the Russian air force denied any incursion into Japanese airspace had occurred. Alexander Drobyshevsky told Russia's Itar-Tass news agency that strategic bomber flights had been "carried out in strict accordance with international rules on flying over neutral waters, without violating the border between the two countries". Rally Russia last violated Japan's airspace in January 2006 near Rebun Island near the northern island of Hokkaido, Japanese officials said. On Thursday, Japan held an annual rally to demand the return of four disputed islands - known as the Kurils in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan - which Russia seized in the closing days of World War II. The dispute has prevented the two countries from signing a peace treaty to formally end the war. It was not clear whether Saturday's flyby was related to the rally. Despite their territorial disputes, Japan and Russia have recently indicated their desire to improve relations, the BBC's Chris Hogg reports from Tokyo. Russia wants Japanese financial support for development of its far eastern regions while Japan wants greater access to Russia's oil reserves. Whether the alleged incident was a mistake or something more sinister, such as an attempt to test Japan's defensive tactics, it has rattled the Japanese government, our correspondent says. Tokyo has demanded a full explanation from Moscow.

They perhaps were never finished - though someone else who has this campaign would have to verify this. Check the downloads to see if there are any updates to the campaign or any separate downloads for the maps elsewhere.

A1E Skyraider Skins
MigBuster replied to Syrinx's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Depends how much time you have to invest in learning Photoshop or GIMP in regards to skins - you can come up with some useable stuff after a while - although to get anywhere near the standard of some of the skins produced on here takes some doing (and probably some art lessons) I must admit! :moil: Still actually using them can be more fun -
I downloaded some replacement WOV maps the other day and they went in the Terrain folder - so see if you have any files like this in there: <terrain>_map1.bmp <terrain>_map2.bmp <terrain>_map3.bmp and try opening them

hmm - Theres no where to really stick a radar without frying the pilot at the mo so it would be stuck with heaters. Then theres the type of mission it could perform - I would rule out interception because Al terrorist in his 747 can probably will get to his target a few hours earlier still I guess the Cessna pilot could take some pics and sell them to the press

EF-2000 Progress
MigBuster replied to Bongodriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
erm - I should say that for all F-22 Vs EF-2000 speculation and guesswork please form an orderly queue at www.f-16.net -
Yeah reads ok - a more trendy version of Dale Brown! Still most movies and books are all fantasy - we all know the first thing an SU-37 would see of an F-22 would be the radar emission from an AMRAAM in its final homing phase The bit about the anti-stealth radar is good - although reminds me in some ways of the old Batman series with his gas that turned metal really heavy - so the baddies couldnt hold their guns

Yep its the aspect ratio - im stuck with 1280x1024 hence the black outline - it doesnt bother me (now)

A1E Skyraider Skins
MigBuster replied to Syrinx's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Pretty and into planes - now theres a rare and beautiful thing ! try not to scare her away guys -
WOE has replaced SFG for me - it has by default newer missiles and avionics - more planes including load of Russian planes including some of he older stuff from SFG. Over WOV you get to do intercept missions - and I think the default campaigns are great - the skies saturated with Migs The terrible terrain is the minus point - and must be replaced its that bad
-
Glad the pilot got out - at least the ejection seats still work!
-
So the FAB are trying to get some Russian Jets too then? am sure they will be just fab

This is what Lead Pursuit used to recommend: If anyone is having issues uninstalling Allied Force, please try the following: Go to this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301 Halfway down is the download link to grab the Installer Cleanup Utility package. Once you have downloaded the file, double click it and select "Run". This will install the package. Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up and double click "msicuu.exe" In the list of programs that appear in the new window, choose (All Users) Falcon 4.0: Allied Force .... and at the bottom hit "remove". This should allow you to reinstall AF correctly. As for screen resolution setting issues - there are probably quite a few old threads on the subject at Frugals if you cant find anything here.
-
Dont have those versions myself - but its worth searching the F4 forum at Frugals because it must have been discussed before.

WOV is Great!
MigBuster replied to BLWillard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You can try this http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=2723 Or just take the file Cloud1.tga from it and stick that in your "\Flight" folder. -
The common basic parts of the data.ini are in the knowledge base - see the "Basic ini editing() parts" Never seen anything really describing how the flight model is put together - well nothing that could be understood. I remember parts of the flight model variables /coefficients being listed in very old posts on another forum.

I use the default 3D pit in AF myself - although a bloke called Zerk on the Frugals Forum is developing version 2 of his freeware 3D pit for AF that has more functionality than the default one - check that out if you can If you fly Red Viper(FF4) or Open Falcon then you can get clickable 3D pits and use 6DoF on TrackIR
-
Any sim that doesnt support TrackIR is obsolete IMO - if you can afford it get one - I will never fly a sim without one ever again! Yes TIR works in the Falcon 2D cockpit - Is supposed to allow you to move to the different screens - but is too difficult to control IMO - Basically switch that function off in the setup and use it in the 3D cockpit only where it works as its supposed to.
