EAW120 goes into Windowed mode. Help?
MarkEAW replied to TheRandoGuy's topic in EAW - Support and Help
Should be a setting in the OpenGLid.ini (open with notepad) I think its CreateWindow=0 or InitFullScreen=1 They are both toggles, 1 or 0. 1 for on. Make sure your using Glide Mode in the eaw.ini file too. -
What else can I tell you about the GOG version? You can update it with the un official code group 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b updates. Stopping at which everyone you prefer. I have them uploaded on CombatACE already. I believe they each have a readme with them to see what was fixed and added. You won't be able to use GOGs DX Wrapper anymore, so you'll want to DL the DxWnd Wrapper by ghotik.

There are HUD FONTS available. They are larger and display bigger on the high resolution screens. (If you need the fonts let me know) However instead of using them, try setting EAWv1.2GOG eaw.ini to maybe 800x600 or keep it at default, 640x480, then set GOGs DirectX Wrapper Display setting double of your eaw.ini res settings. This will give decent looking fonts on the higher res wrapper setting. Virtually upscaling. the flight screens etc..... Oh, don't forget to turn off the Aspect Setting. Other wise you have a window with black columns in it, on either side of the game screen.

Anything else needed on CombatACE Downloads? Any idea is helpful.

View File Small or Empty MOVIES.CDF Small or Empty MOVIES.CDF which removes the Smacker .SMK movies, for Intro, Films and Cut Scenes in Career Mode. Its a known issue that Blank Screens can appear when the Intro Movie is suppose to play. Its a known issue that the game may crash on modern computers when the Cut Scenes try to play. Its a BUG in MicroProse EAW Game, even the fixed up GOG type game may crash. (It will save 284MB of HD Space when copied into your EAW main game directory, let it overwrite the previous CDF file). Either one of these files will bypass the movie playback: EmptyMoviesCDF (38bytes) by VBH?. A completely empty movies.cdf file. SmallMoviesCDF (2.57MB) by -E. An alternate small movies.cdf file. EAWPRO v1.0 Basic DWnd Profile Settings Download
MarkEAW replied to MarkEAW's topic in EAWPRO's Discussions
NP Its simple with the pre configured profile settings for the DxWnd Wrapper. You place the wrapper folder near your game folder, and run the dxwnd.exe, import the settings and set the path to your game. click the icon or the eaw.exe while the wrapper is still open, and your all set :) EAWPRO runs great, and its more fun like you would find in standard v1.2. -
If you have the GOG release, the Campaign Films (The cut scenes) will tend to crash the game during Career Modes when they go to play the .smk movies. This is true for the standard MPS EAW Game as well, just more common. You can download a 'empty' MOVIES.CDF file and drop it into your EAWv1.2GOG version game folder and it will allow the game to get past the cut scene, by skipping it. Get the Empty Movies.CDF here at CombatACE in the EAW Downloads if you need it. (Its 7-zip so make sure you have that program to un zip it.)

EAWPRO v1.0 Basic DWnd Profile Settings Download
MarkEAW replied to MarkEAW's topic in EAWPRO's Discussions
Oh, since I posted this, I've updated the download, I have removed the Virtual Joystick option. If you still need it just re-enable it. :) -
Here's a few videos I have watched on EAW: One of them mentions my install instructions, which was a surprise, these are by "damsonn". I think in all of his videos he is using v1.2 on a Win10 64bit system in 3dfxGlide Mode, running nGlide Wrapper at double the res of the EAW standard game , which is defaulted at (640x480). Note: NGlide cleaning upscales the graphics and cockpit dials, and everything else. (Other wrappers do this too, I just don't remember which ones). European Air War v1.2 (stock version) running on Windows 10 64-bit - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VGPfM0v3TU European Air War - 2 RAF Campaign Missions - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMZdTVElOuQ European Air War - Luftwaffe Campaign Mission - Bomber Intercept - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5O4baT7Zrk BTW I didn't embed the videos as it looked too big, I prefer videos viewed at there home sites anyhow.

Just to follow up. EAW runs great on Win7 except for color corruption on the menu screens and screen tearing on the map screens. Both issues can be remedied with a Wrapper Program. So I'm just saying, give yourself a chance and use Win7 if that's what all you got. BTW The error 7217 don experienced may be because win7 didn't apply a registry compat layer registry entry, and don was running natively. Which normally works on win7. I also always use to say running natively gave the best experience, but I do prefer using a Wrapper even on Win10, for now. It runs great in D3D Mode using any of the handful of Wrappers that I have used in the past. I currently use DxWnd (by ghotik). There is Nvidia table fog available and mouse polling to slow down the parameter mission selection options. The latter issue common to GOG release as well.

heh. There is a Great Shot 2 and I think I remember seeing a update for it to run on the un-official 1.28 version, maybe it was the 'e' variant. (1.28e) Glad I could Help. If you make a backup of 12 you could try EAWPRO and patch over the 1.2 with it. It more of the 1.2 fun and beyond, plus you can do 1024x768 res and move the pilot seat back to give you wider views. Good luck.

You have to have your Joystick as ID1 / Preferred Device in the Joystick Control Panel. See my Site for the Joystick Help Document, also the Troubleshoot Help Doc too, it has issue resolutions in it for controllers. Not sure you will be able to get the Thrustmaster to work. EAW likes all in one Joysticks. However some devices linked together will work too. Overall it sounds like you need to read my site from the first help document on. Or skim it if you know enough of the subjects I present.

You have an unusual computer. You should not be getting the 7217 error at all on Win7. Download a wrapper program and wrap your game in it. Use DxWND, its what I use and works very well.

Still, the files for the EAWv1.28 un-official versions are stuck at CombatACE's processing. I was impatient and I sent a support ticket. Apparently I should have waited a few more days because of the holiday. Anyhow you can DL those files now from CombatACE's EAW file section.

Never heard of this issue. 64 bit will run 32bit. Read my install document and manually copy and paste the files to your computer.

Is anyone interested in a 1.2 to 1.28 patch with installer? and perhaps a 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b patches? I just recently found them in my file pile, and they are the eaw code development / codegroup downloads..... Maybe I can upload those files. But If you want, I can upload those files to CombatACE? I don't recommend you 1.28 GOG players to patch it up, as the eaw.exe would be over written and loose all GOGs revisions to the exe...... Let me know, I may do it anyhow as others have requested a and b separately in the past. EDIT: Well I uploaded them and been waiting for them to be processed.

Geez Stratos, nice that you edited my posts and interrupted a calm discussion. I didn't make any personnel attacks, its only in your head that I did. Everything was spot on and not a personnel attack. Wow. VBH, the download count is for all files in that archive, not just the one imposter file thats was removed. So the true count seems to be unknown.

Aw, you where referring to another thread. I only double checked this thread for that reference, before i proceeded. Yeah SimHQ currently doesn't host EAW files other than links pointing to external files from the EAW Forum by Jel's posts. I would just ask VBH to clarify the post , if he can still edit it. He clearly indented to reference Jels previous posts from the past at SimHQ. VBH, isn't out to get or screw anyone over. He's just working on his hobby and time killers. Much like what I do with the EAWHS, kills time, sometimes too much. :) Alright well hopefully this thread is over, given that VBH has a chance to respond.

Naw, you haven't been following. Just read the comment section of the the files Jel posted here at CombatACE, and some place else in the forum that at the moment I can't find. EDIT: I looks like part of the discussions in my thread about what I should post. There's a brief mention of finding out what that file is. I didn't know what it was and its been sitting there since 2019. and then the comment section of the files Jel posted.

Regarding files from EAWHS: I have been adding a lot of file descriptions to my site and some files have been repacked and renamed. I did all this locally and find it much faster if I don't have to keep track of the downloads and changes I make. I'll try to upload some of them to mediafire but I can't be bothered with uploading all the skins ive added as the folder structure is slow to browse. I still not sure If I'll be able to find FTP space or what where it would make more sense to handle the files. Anyhow moving on.
