Well I found the 1.30 Test release available from 11-25-2013. This is about 6 files/archives to go from v1.2. Then there's a bunch of un sorted updates and addons for it after that. I could combine it all, or at least try to get it right, considering there's over 20 archives. There does not appear to be a guide to update the 130 beyond the initial placement of the game.....
-
Alright, well the b version of 128 may actually be a 1.28d 1024 Glide 3 exe....I'll have to confirm it by installing a d version and replacing the exe first. Can you pm me your e-mail address, to send the 130to140 archive? EDIT: Never mind I uploaded it to the 140 folder. https://www.mediafire.com/folder/1jopd2lcgp6cu/v140

Okay I found 130 (12to130) and 140 archives, but there are many of them, best to contact the code group, perhaps they have a single download of these old versions for you. I even found a 130to140 archive or two, but the 140 is an very early version/build of it.

I've found 130, but its in like 10 archives, and I'm not sure how they install to make a single game....if they even do that. I'll keep looking into it. You may want to contact someone at the code group forum or simhq UAW sub forum, they may have a much better understanding as they will have more old game archives then I. (Like I said, anything 130 and above your just going to want 160 as the leap up of the version numbering.) I have 140 somewhere , or one of its archives, not sure I have the last 140 or not. EDIT: Looks like I don't have a recent 1.40 archive at all. I also just ran into a 1.28b Glide 3 exe...I may post that last one here on combat ace dls. EDIT: Would you like to test this exe for me on Glide 3 Mode?

oh look, someone alive :) lol As far as 130, I think it was just a exe file, not sure if he ever released a public archive for it. I may have a copy of an archive of the 130, but I think anything 130 and above, you should just get the 160. Its more of the same modding features in the later builds. There defiantly wasn't any hardware support upgrades provided. The main reason for these updates is just if they contain gameplay upgrades. Why do you feel you need 130? (I'll look to see if I have some type of a 130 archive, if you really want it still):

Anything going on with EAW? I get plenty of visits still to my site. I wonder if the few pilots are getting enough help?

I couldn't remember if the drop tanks did damaging properties in the default game? For some reason I always seem to fly through them un harmed...IDK, not sure. :P

EAWPRO Will go over the v1.2GOG version easily, make a portable version first. Again you'll want to change wrappers and download the Profile Settings for EAWPRO.
-
My guess overall, is your using DX mode right? If your using the DxWnd Wrapper? (I'm Not sure how you use open glide with it.) Anyhow I believe I set the stock game so it's configured to run in a window. If you go to modify the settings , then go into the MAIN Tab in DxWnd, and un check "run in window". https://eaw.neocities.org/files-my-downloads.html For my preset DxWnd Wrapper settings. EDIT: Also on the VIDEO Tab click 8 BPP if using full screen. https://eaw.neocities.org/troubleshoot-wrappers.html For troubleshoot the wrappers.

I think if you reassign the mouse to something else it won't control the camera view. Never tried it.
-
In eaw.ini Glide Mode is DisplayDevice=0 1 and 2 are DX
-
Should be a setting in the OpenGLid.ini (open with notepad) I think its CreateWindow=0 or InitFullScreen=1 They are both toggles, 1 or 0. 1 for on. Make sure your using Glide Mode in the eaw.ini file too.

What else can I tell you about the GOG version? You can update it with the un official code group 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b updates. Stopping at which everyone you prefer. I have them uploaded on CombatACE already. I believe they each have a readme with them to see what was fixed and added. You won't be able to use GOGs DX Wrapper anymore, so you'll want to DL the DxWnd Wrapper by ghotik.

There are HUD FONTS available. They are larger and display bigger on the high resolution screens. (If you need the fonts let me know) However instead of using them, try setting EAWv1.2GOG eaw.ini to maybe 800x600 or keep it at default, 640x480, then set GOGs DirectX Wrapper Display setting double of your eaw.ini res settings. This will give decent looking fonts on the higher res wrapper setting. Virtually upscaling. the flight screens etc..... Oh, don't forget to turn off the Aspect Setting. Other wise you have a window with black columns in it, on either side of the game screen.

Anything else needed on CombatACE Downloads? Any idea is helpful.

EAWPRO v1.0 Basic DWnd Profile Settings Download
MarkEAW replied to MarkEAW's topic in EAWPRO's Discussions
NP Its simple with the pre configured profile settings for the DxWnd Wrapper. You place the wrapper folder near your game folder, and run the dxwnd.exe, import the settings and set the path to your game. click the icon or the eaw.exe while the wrapper is still open, and your all set :) EAWPRO runs great, and its more fun like you would find in standard v1.2. -
If you have the GOG release, the Campaign Films (The cut scenes) will tend to crash the game during Career Modes when they go to play the .smk movies. This is true for the standard MPS EAW Game as well, just more common. You can download a 'empty' MOVIES.CDF file and drop it into your EAWv1.2GOG version game folder and it will allow the game to get past the cut scene, by skipping it. Get the Empty Movies.CDF here at CombatACE in the EAW Downloads if you need it. (Its 7-zip so make sure you have that program to un zip it.)

EAWPRO v1.0 Basic DWnd Profile Settings Download
MarkEAW replied to MarkEAW's topic in EAWPRO's Discussions
Oh, since I posted this, I've updated the download, I have removed the Virtual Joystick option. If you still need it just re-enable it. :) -
Here's a few videos I have watched on EAW: One of them mentions my install instructions, which was a surprise, these are by "damsonn". I think in all of his videos he is using v1.2 on a Win10 64bit system in 3dfxGlide Mode, running nGlide Wrapper at double the res of the EAW standard game , which is defaulted at (640x480). Note: NGlide cleaning upscales the graphics and cockpit dials, and everything else. (Other wrappers do this too, I just don't remember which ones). European Air War v1.2 (stock version) running on Windows 10 64-bit - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VGPfM0v3TU European Air War - 2 RAF Campaign Missions - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMZdTVElOuQ European Air War - Luftwaffe Campaign Mission - Bomber Intercept - YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5O4baT7Zrk BTW I didn't embed the videos as it looked too big, I prefer videos viewed at there home sites anyhow.

Just to follow up. EAW runs great on Win7 except for color corruption on the menu screens and screen tearing on the map screens. Both issues can be remedied with a Wrapper Program. So I'm just saying, give yourself a chance and use Win7 if that's what all you got. BTW The error 7217 don experienced may be because win7 didn't apply a registry compat layer registry entry, and don was running natively. Which normally works on win7. I also always use to say running natively gave the best experience, but I do prefer using a Wrapper even on Win10, for now. It runs great in D3D Mode using any of the handful of Wrappers that I have used in the past. I currently use DxWnd (by ghotik). There is Nvidia table fog available and mouse polling to slow down the parameter mission selection options. The latter issue common to GOG release as well.

(Early) Code Group Patches EAWv1.20to1.28to1.28ato1.28b
MarkEAW posted a topic in File Announcements
View File (Early) Code Group Patches EAWv1.20to1.28to1.28ato1.28b This is an early set of the un-official v1.28 and the two upgrades. *Important Information: If you have the GOG versions, 1.2 or 1.28, then these upgrades would over write the GOG made eaw.exe revisions. It effectively takes away the GOG patch. It 's your choice if you wish to do this. 1.2 to 1.28 to 1.28a to 1.28b Install Instructions by: MarkEAW Download These Files: EAW1.28patch.exe 48.4MB This is a 1.2 to 1.28 Installer (Jun222008) 1.28to1.28a.exe 11.2MB 1.28 to a (Jun182009) 1.28ato1.28b.exe 969KB 1.28a to b (Jul042009) eaw.ini file; Before installing, remove/delete your v1.2 eaw.ini file from the game folder to allow the new un-official version to make its own ini file with extend functions. From a fresh install; Have a clean "install" of the official MicroProse v1.20 game. Install the first patch into that folder, the 'EAW12' game folder, allowing some existing files to be overwritten. Then extract each patch there after into the same folder, overwriting some of the files each time. Submitter MarkEAW Submitted 09/01/2023 Category EAW - European Air War -
heh. There is a Great Shot 2 and I think I remember seeing a update for it to run on the un-official 1.28 version, maybe it was the 'e' variant. (1.28e) Glad I could Help. If you make a backup of 12 you could try EAWPRO and patch over the 1.2 with it. It more of the 1.2 fun and beyond, plus you can do 1024x768 res and move the pilot seat back to give you wider views. Good luck.
