  1. - could we have a thread and not argue? - how about do the math...F-4 first flight=27 May 1958...and it is still in flying today...if you start the clock on Dec 17 1903 then roughly 55 years passed before the double ugly...and that legendary has been flying for 50 years (in some capacity) - in that same thought, the B-52 first chipped away at the ozone layer on 15 April 1952, so about 49 years after Kitty Hawk and has been flying for the 56 years past. - it is rather interesting to note that both of them have been flying for about half as long as modern powered flight - and better still the legendary DC-3 took off on 17 Dec 1935 and there are some still flying
  2. whoa..."Israeli only export"...why dont you just spit on Japan and Korea (just to name two crucial allies)...I have no desire to turn this into a flame about Israel, but we have more allies than just that one that have also been extremely good customers over the years let's not forget Singapore, either
  3. awesome, good read!
  4. anyone want to start a pool on how long before this thread gets banned?
  5. this is very interesting...but if the US is being "stingy" with F-35 secrets (essentially the F-16 v 2.0) then is it really time they will share the F-22 (think of it as F-15 v 2.0)? No doubt they will one day and both Japan and Israel would be the likely customers...but I do not think we are there yet
  6. wow!
  7. how many paying subscribers do you have now, as a percentage of the total active population of this forum?
  8. FC, I know...have built a few test versions myself...
  9. sweet!
  10. rather stretches back to "realism, realism, realism" that for so many years has been spewed on this and other forums...people really do not want realism... you want to fill out forms? you want to get up at 0300? you want to spend every day studying in a vault? you want to wonder if that is a rash or "geasels"? you want to skip lunch, sweat, listen to some Intel guy studder through the same damn capes brief...again? you want to sit in 120 F heat flipping switches, circuit breakers, and staring at needles? How many of you do a control cross check before take off? How many of you use F6 to visually inspect the airplane before take off? How many of you have studied the radar capes of your pretend airplanes? How many of you taxi back after you land? How many of you land after a mission? How many of you write a letter to a virtual spouse after you loose a little digital wingman? How many of you know what an FCR failure is? How many of you know if that slight slick under the port wing is dew or hydraulic fluid? How many of you know the tire pressure of even one of these pretend airplanes? Know what an FCF is? Or why is is either the most boring or most exiting flight you can draw that day/night? How many know any of the launch parameters of any of the weapons you pretend to employ? Realism is more than a double edged sword...it is holding a weed-eater at the wrong end for someone trying to sell video games... cheers
  11. I really like this Fulcrum...
  12. - kind of surprised to see this "unclass" - and how would you mimic helmet-cuing in this game? do you really want to open the seeker FOV that far in this game?
  13. Eh? None anywhere? So does MSFS or X-Plane not count? I disagree...besides, as pointed out, flying fast in a straight line in this game is not worth the sheer effort of getting a model into form to release to the ever-critical public...it would be like so many of the other planes already here for download, people download it, install it, fly it like three times, and then post that they want another one or that version block 32 is their very all time favorite...
  14. saw on the history channel that it looks like the B-29 cockpit because it IS the B-29 cockpit...they copied every single bolt, even the ones they did not understand, from a three ship that force landed
  15. just look at washington, dc...has the most strict gun control laws in the US (have to have the weapon disassembled)...and DC continually sets the bar higher for numbers of violet crimes...control does anything but control violence...not my opinion, it is readily available information...
  16. "Because of the "You have to remove my rifle from my corpse's fingers" philosphy , that is why." -- SERIOUSLY? Do you really think that either of the gunmen are members of the NRA? Then I think that you have a demented view of reality...
  17. - this is f***ing stupid...what is wrong with my country? Thailand has protest over a change in government and people make a big deal saying it is so dangerous...they f***ing stepped on a PREGNANT WOMAN to get into wal-mart...and killed an old dude...not to mention the shootings at a freakin toys r us...
  18. the most important thing about being a flight lead: dont screw up, period...
  19. I liked the original battlestar galatica finale...since it was not a "finale" intentionally and the show was just canceled...that just left it open for one's own imagination Seinfeld was lame also I thought...
  20. America already split once...didnt work out so well so it came back together then dominated the rest of the world in peaceful harmony...wait...didnt USSR break up and splinter into several different regions? Maybe he read the cue card wrong...
  21. sweet! thanks!
  22. it was aliens man...bet there were like 14 people saying they were abducted by aliens by the next week...freaks...
  23. - this thread is bulls**t... - yes the IAF is very capable and the Flanker is a killer - yes the JASDF are some of the most professional pilots you will ever meet any where, period (I flew with/against them for five freakin years) - RED FLAG was NEVER and will NEVER be a "my country is better than your country party", period freakin dot...get over it... - and yes aggressors fly tactics meant to MIMIC what we expect to see...but it is just that...just like football practice, yo watch tapes, study the playbook, and do your best - read the new book "Red Eagles"...among many things, it discusses the formation of RED FLAG...it was designed (and still is) to teach pilots how to survive their first 10 combat missions by showing them as best as we could what to expect...obviously it is still a "laboratory" and can NEVER be realistic enough to start throwing national pride around - seriously that this thread has dwindled into jocularity is exactly why I miss the old column5 forum... - dude, seriously dont be the guy invited over to the "kegger" and puke in the potted plants and then try to mack on the host's girl...you do a great dis-service to the IAF by this bulls**t
  24. wow! had a model of one of these when I was young(er)...was always amazed that it flew so well, being so damn ugly...truly pretty is as pretty does...my grandfather flew in one of these as a grunt going to far off lands...
  25. "rolling radius" I think affects the radius of the tires...you have to tell the game engine how big the tires are since it really does not "see" the tires per se (again I am no expert, but have adjusted this factor sometimes to fix "sinking"). "rolling coefficient" affects the drag induced by the rubber (tyres for you Brits) in the game engine...so a B-52 or C-5 would have a significantly higher rolling coefficient than say an F-16 (again I did not code the game, just noticing what happens when you change it and why that would be). I agree with Fubar (dont tell him though) and the factors that make the "real" V1 in a real airplane contribute in the game engine, which would be chiefly drag/lift ratios...again remember though (before anybody with an aerospace degree chimes in, I wanted to keep the answer less than a few pages) that TK calls this a "game", it is not "X-Plane"...he is certainly more than talented enough to make the code do whatever he wants, but then you quickly get into "feature creep" which is exactly why PC gaming is dwindling faster than my IRAs...
