RWR Symbology
By Fubar512
RWR Symbology and Sounds for Third Wire Sims
by: Fubar512
crash test dummies: Jarhead1 and USAFMTL "Dave"
NOTE, these are not totally representitive of the RWR symbology that one might find in real combat aircraft. They are meant to make it somewhat easier to identify threat type (ground or airborne), and threat level (search, track, lock), for ease of game play. The symbols are set up as follows:
S = ground based search radar
Diamond with "T"=ground based radar in track mode
Diamond with 'L"=ground based radar in acquisition mode
Inverted 'V" with "S" below it=Airborne search radar
Inverted 'V" with "T" below it=Airborne radar in track mode
Inverted "V" with "L" below it=Airborne radar in acquisition mode
The colored icons further help identify threat modes, as follows
Green =Search Mode
Yellow =Track Mode
Red = Acquisition mode
Instructions:
Copy the RWR sub-folder of your choice (Green or Colored) and its contents into the aircraft's cockpit folder. The aircraft must have an RWR display to begin with, of course!
Next, you must edit the following entries in that aircraft's avionics.ini to denote the path to the RWR symbol.
(Please note that In the case of TW default aircraft, you will have to extract the avionics.ini from the objectdata.cat file, and place it in the aircraft's folder in order to edit it. You must download and use the SFP1E extraction utilty in order to do so.)

TrackSound=RWRTrack2.wav<----Sounds (optional)
LockSound=LaunchWarn.wav<----Sounds (optional)
Note the path statement in the Texture statement. This must be followed or the model will default to using the standard texures (icons).
The Size statement is a variable that must be set by the user. I find that a size value of 0.125 is perfect for the F-15 series, and a size of 0.20 works well with the F-14, F-16, and F-18's display. You may need to experiment.
Last, but not least, RWR sounds. I've included two extremely annoying ones for your enjoyment. You can use whatever sounds you want, by simply placing said sounds in the "Sounds" folder, and setting the statement as noted above. Note that sounds must always be monoaural .wav format. MP3 files, and stereo .wavs will not work in any TW sim.
I've included a modified avionics.ini for the default Thirwire F-15A, as found in WoE and WoI, to help you understand what's involved, and to allow those of you who already have those sims to get up and running right away.
USING THIS MOD UNDER "EASY AVIONICS"
by: WarlordATF
Now, When i installed it, It didn't work. I re-checked everything,re-read the readme and everything was done exactly right.
But, I use Easy Avionics! Its simple to fix and i just wanted to provide instructions on how to make it work with Easy mode.
All you have to do is...
Copy the new TGAs, not the RWR folder, Just the new TGAs to your Flight folder and extract the EASYAVIONICSDATA.INI from the Flightdata.cat and edit it like this...
[RWR]
Type=3_RING
AirSearchTexture=AirSearch.tga
AirTrackTexture=AirTrack.tga
AirLockTexture=AirLock.tga
GroundSearchTexture=SurfaceSearch.tga
GroundTrackTexture=SurfaceTrack.tga
GroundLockTexture=SurfaceLock.tga
SearchPosition=0.90
TrackPosition=0.55
LockPosition=0.15
SearchSize=0.15<---Set Size to your preference
TrackSize=0.15<---Set Size to your preference

SearchFlash=FALSE
TrackFlash=TRUE
TrackFlashRate=0.2
LockFlash=TRUE
LockFlashRate=0.1
TrackSound=RWRTrackSound.wav
LockSound=RWRLockSound.wav
And your done, this will give you a fully functional RWR and All RWRs will use the new symbols!

Mig-19P (Radar Variant) Cockpit
By ordway
A Cockpit mod of the Thirdwire Scooter's cockpit, to create the Cuban-modified Mig-19P working-radar cockpit for use in Wrench's Mig-19P (or any other radar-equipped Mig-19).
Download Wrench's Mig-19P aircraft here:
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5070
Referenced from multiple color photos, and cockpit layout diagrams.
Instruments and placards moved, eliminated, repainted and painted from scratch.
Individual instruments in Russian as they were historically.
The Mig-19 series flew combat and reportedly got kills in the Viet Nam war, the Arab-Israeli wars and the Indo-Pakistani wars.
This aircraft is the one that reportedly sparred with Gary Power's overflying U2.
The Mig-19P could easily outclimb the F-4 Phantom at about 35,435 ft/min vs the F-4s 28,500 ft/min.*
Top gun training showed that when flying the Mig-19/21, you can often go pure vertical at the merge and often defeat the F-4....or just outturn the F-4 in the deep stall buffet if the F-4 tries to turn slowly too.**
What is different compared to my Mig-19S cockpit:
1. A radar display was added with correct range lines according to one diagram.
2. The cockpit panel is a dark blue per color photos.
3. The Mig-19P deleted one ammo counter between the pilot's legs as it was reduced to two NR-23 cannon to make way for the radar.
4.The Mig-19P also deleted one red gun arming switch because the Mig-19P only had two internal cannons.
5. Tens of other changes including instrument locations, instrument additions and color changes.
For SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI.
*Thanks to Wrench for the Mig-19P and its Mig-17PFU avionics.
*Thanks to Charles for permission to use some gauges from the Meteor (Fuel gage and graphics).
*Thanks to Lexx_Luthor for massive help on relocating instruments.
*Thanks to The Trooper for the photos and coding on making the ADI (artificial horizon work upside down...no mean feat!)
*Thanks to Thirdwire and TK for their sim and some instruments.
Complete credits and history in readme.
Instructions:
1-Backup your files!
2.Add contents to the Mig-19P aircraft file.
3-When prompted, overwrite the files.
More detailed instructions are included within.
Just ask at the combatace forum if you have problems.

Mig-19S Cockpit (Twin-Engine Fighter)
By ordway
A Cockpit mod of the Thirdwire Scooter's cockpit, to create the North Viet Nam-modified Mig-19S cockpit for use in the stock Thirdwire Mig-19S cockpit (or any other non-radar Mig-19).
Referenced from multiple color photos, and cockpit layout diagrams.
Instruments and placards moved, eliminated, repainted and painted from scratch.
Individual instruments in Russian as they were historically.
The Mig-19S was the Soviet Union's first supersonic fighter. It flew combat and reportedly got kills in the Viet Nam war, the Arab-Israeli wars and the Indo-Pakistani wars.
The Mig-19S could easily outclimb the F-4 Phantom at 35,435 ft/min vs the F-4s 28,500 ft/min.* It also could out-accelerate the F-4 up to 465 knots.**
Top gun training showed that when flying the Mig-19/21, you can often go pure vertical at the merge and often defeat the F-4....or just outturn the F-4 in the deep stall buffet with flaps down if the F-4 tries to turn slowly too.***
Features:
1. The exhaust gas temperature gauge (EGT) has the twin-engine version with two red circles in it.
2. The gunsight is changed to the square ASP 5N gunsight with a square crash pad.
3. The Russians added a distinctive six-light warning panel.
4. The Mig-19 added three ammo counters between the pilot's legs.
5. A large red and yellow landing gear handle was added.
6. Toggle switches finally replaced the buttons on the master panel switch on the right cockpit side panel.
7. Tens of other features including different instruments, instrument additions and switch changes.
For SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI.

F-1C "New" cockpit .ini
By DerAlte
This .ini file modifies the stock Kfir cockpit from WoI for the F-1C. It replaces the RWR and makes it a Radar scope. You MUST have WoI to extract the full cockpit from the Kfir to use this. This cockpit.ini can also be used for other aircraft that has a Radar scope in the corner.
To add a acoustic RWR warning...... add the following lines to your avionics file (or update the RWR entry);
[RWRTrackSound]
Priority=HIGH
3DSound=TRUE
Looped=TRUE
NumBuffers=1
[RWRLockSound]
Priority=HIGH
3DSound=TRUE
Looped=TRUE
NumBuffers=1
Many thanks to TK, the ThirdWire people, the makers of the great Mirage F-1 series (at Column5's site) and to the great KB section here (who showed me how to do this real simple mod) and to all involved with this great series.

Su-27 Flanker Avionics v15
By Crusader
Flanker Avionics v1.5
This is a avionics update for Marcfighters Su-27 and Su-27SK (J-11)
Fully working with Wings Over Israel ONLY ! - until the other games of the series are patched to the same code level !
Requires the aformentioned planes already installed, which are available at http://marcfighters.combatace.com/
Installation of the update :
1. You might want to make a BACKUP of your whole Su-27 Flanker folders first, or of ini's which you modded yourself !
2. Copy/Move the contents ( ini's and cockpit folder) of the Su-27 avionics v15 and/or Su-27SK avionics v15 folders into the respective plane folders
( Su-27 and/or Su-27SK )
Let overwrite files if prompted to do so.
Thats all.
For a quick guide to what is new in Air to Air mode, refer to the included "Flanker Avionics v15 NAV and A2A info.pdf" file
Additional IR guided (R-73 and R-27T/TE A2A missile info:
The HUD has no IR seeker symbol, make sure that your IR missiles have "Seeker slave" checked ( weapondata ini), so that the radar can point the
missile seeker to the desired target.
Without radar , the IR seeker will lock on to the first target which comes into the seekers Field Of View.
The Air to Ground mode displays are not mentioned in the PDF , but its basically a CCIP pipper, left side has a fixed scale and marker,
with a radar altitude in KM on the top.
The standard altitude readout ( to the right of the heading scale) shows altitude Above Ground Level, it is a radar altimeter in A2Gmode.
NOTE:
Several readouts and symbols are just for looks and dont have a usefull function!
Usage in other mods:
This mod or parts of it can be used in other Third Wire games related mods without contacting me first, just give credit!
For questions/comments ect, contact "Crusader" at CombatAce.com forums.

Mig-17F Cockpit
By ordway
A Cockpit mod of the Thirdwire Scooter's cockpit, to create the North Vietnam-modified Mig-17F cockpit for use in the standard Thirdwire Mig-17F.
The Mig-17F was the standard version used in Vietnam and Middle East combat.
Referenced from multiple color photos, cockpit layout diagrams.
Instruments and placards moved, eliminated, repainted and painted from scratch.
Individual instruments in Russian as they were historically.
Yes, it correctly has the artificial horizon correctly Soviet-color-reversed, upside down-working (I even flew an ex-Soviet fighter that had this).
Changes to the Mig-17F cockpit compared to the
Mig-15Bis:
1. The Russians added the rearview mirror as standard. Apparently on the previous Mig-15, it created too many technical problems to include.
http://www.vectorsite.net/avmig15_2.html
2. -The temperature gauge was changed according to some photos to add a big colorful half red circle and they eliminated the colorful rainbow gauge casing around it.
3. -They added a large red canopy handle according to some photos (very colorful and distinctive!).
4. The instrument panel rivets started having long screw driver holes in them according to some photos!
5. A big, silver instrument casing was added to the clock below the artificial horizon...probably a reward for graduating from the Mig-15 :).
6. Two toggle switches and two extra buttons were added to the cockpit coaming.
7. Finally, the American-style six diamond gunsight reticle replaced the old British-style round circle.
For SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI.
Complete credits and history in readme.
Instructions:
1-Backup your files!
2- Unzip the Mig-17F cockpit (North Vietnam
modified) to ...\SFP1\Objects\Aircraft\Mig-17F\
3-When prompted, overwrite the files.

Mig-15Bis Cockpit
By ordway
A Cockpit mod of the Thirdwire Scooter's cockpit, to create the North Korean-modified Mig-15Bis cockpit.
Referenced from multiple color photos, cockpit layout diagrams and the reference "A Mig-15 to Freedom" by Korean war Mig-15 pilot veteran No Kum-Sok and a US university professor.
Instruments and placards moved, eliminated, repainted and painted from scratch.
Individual instruments in Russian as they were historically.
Yes, it correctly has the artificial horizon correctly Soviet-color-reversed, upside down-working (I even flew an ex-Soviet fighter that had this), and correctly no mirrors. Go to this thread for the discussion and color photos of real Mig-15 cockpits.
http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...=27132&st=0
It includes a gyro lead-computing gunsight as per accounts with an early style English copy round gunsight reticle made in Poland.
Korean Mig-15s severely outnumbered F-86 Sabres in the Korean war and sometimes threatened the air superiority situation. More than a few US aces were shot down by Mig-15s. Mig-15s usually had the critical advantages over the Sabre of a superior untouchable ceiling and generally a much faster climb rate, acceleration and a cannon armament.
The true score of the Mig-15s will probably never be known. However some sources state anywhere from 78-100 F-86 kills depending on the F-86's "lost to unknown causes" categories.
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/archive/index.php?t-8837.html
Mod by Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway. Thanks also to Brain32 for mirror placement help and to The Trooper for the coding on making the ADI and to Tazkiller for beta testing.
For SFP1/WOV/WOE/WOI.
Complete credits and history in readme.
Instructions:
1-Backup your files!
2- Included is a Mig-15 Cockpit.zip master file. In it are two separate cockpit files for two separate aircraft (Pasko's Mig-15Bis and the Mig-15Bis00 user Mod changed flight model aircraft). Unzip the Mig-15 mastercockpit Zip file. to ...SFP1ObjectsAircraftMig-15Bis or SFP1ObjectsAircraftMig-15bis00.
Within the master Zip file there are two subfiles. Open one of the two named subfiles and drop entire contents into matching named Mig folder.
3-When prompted, overwrite the files.

A Cockpit mod of the Thirdwire Scooter's cockpit, to create the Israeli-modified Dassault MD-450 Ouragan cockpit (airframe No. 151 and later) for use in Column 5's and Pasko's incredible MD-450 Ouragan.
Referenced from a MD-450 manual and photographs.
Instruments and placards moved, eliminated and repainted.
Individual instruments and placards in either French or English, as they were historically.
Yes, Those are actual radios in the instrument panel...
It includes a lead computing gunsight as per Wikipedia.

Mirrors Off Mod For Stock WoV/WoE planes
By Brain32
===Mirrors Off mod for stock WOE/WOV flyable planes===
This mod removes mirrors from cockpits of all stock WoE/WoV flyable planes.
I made this because my system is not powerfull enough to run mirrors on top of everything else, so I'm stuck with empty, gray mirrors which serve no use except the pits looking more correctly so I decided to try and see how would it look without them so if you want to try...here it is.

F-14 TCS mod
By Typhoid
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| |
| GRUMMAN F-14A TOMCAT TCS Mod
|
|
The F-14A Tomcat the best fleet defender. |
+-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
With the gracious permission of;
The Mirage Factory and Olivier ANGUILLE (BPAo);
This update includes the avionics upgrade by Sandmartin and Batman1978 which uses the avionics70 file to provide improved HUD and air to air radar and tracking capabilities and the TCS mod. This TCS mod provides a boresighted view only and does not (yet) track selected targets. The Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) has been updated and includes the implementation originally developed by wpnssgt.
The avionics upgrade by Sandmartin and Batman1978 uses the avionics70 file to provide improved HUD and air to air radar and tracking capabilities. This avionics70 mod does NOT work in a Wings Over Vietnam (and possibly not in Strike Fighter) only install. So if you are using a WoV install you will need to use the alternate cockpit using the avionics60 version. The TCS mod works in both versions.
Backup your files!
First, delete the cockpit folder in the F-14A or F-14A (IAF). Then copy the contents from the appropriate folder into the aircraft main folder.
Good hunting!

F-4J Hi-Res Cockpit V1
By streakeagle
Adaptation of my F-4B Hi-Res Cockpit to represent an F-4J.
The stock F-4J cockpit is a mix bewteen the F-4B and early F-4J cockpits.
In reality, the two are very similar except for the radar scope and radar warning receiver.
So this release is really my F-4B cockpit with those two changes.
Unfortunately, the 3d model uses the F-4B radar scope shape.
The F-4J radar scope texture does not wrap onto the F-4B shape very well in some places.

By Kesselbrut
Downgraded cockpit for Juhelms/USAFMTLs A-5A
1. Download the A-5A pack and install it
2. Copy the A-5A_cockpit.ini from this pack into the A-5A folder and the other files into the cockpit folder.
Release Notes:
The files included in this pack are Freeware - you are not allowed to redistribute it with commercial software-bundles or make otherwise money with them. You are allowed to repaint them and/or distribute them with other freeware packs. It would be a nice gesture to name me in the disclaimer of those 3rd party packs.
