    3. Albatros DI Prince Friedrich Karl von Preußen

      Albatros DI flown by Prince Friedrich Karl von Preußen. He commanded Fliegerabteilung (Artillerie) 258, an artillery spotting unit, but flew patrols in a single-seat fighter with Jasta Boelcke whenever possible. He was shot down in 1917 whilst flying this machine, he crashed only lightly wounded, but unfortunately was shot in the back by Australian troops, whilst trying to escape from the area, unfortunately he died later from this wound.

      I am actually surprised that no one else has made this skin, especially as we now have the most excellent Albatos DI from Stephen 1918, but anyhow, I have done one.

      There is a great deal of speculation concerning this particular aircraft, there is only really one decent photo of it, after she was captured, however the wings have been removed, so only the fuselage is clearly visable, so, there are many discussions and musings over the correct scheme for this Albatros, the general concensus is that the fuselage was painted a light grey green colour, however as no colour photos were de riguer at this period of time, we can only guess at the correct shade, so I have used an approxomate colour. there is also mass discussion and beard wagging, in respect of the wings. ( as no photos I am aware of show these , the question is a bit academic in my view ) the popular belief is that the aircraft was painted over all the same colour ie. light grey green, but there are those who firmly believe that the wings were standard camouflage pattern , so, to forstall any rivet counters out there, I have included and alternative skin WITH the camo wings and stabiliser, personally I think it looks better in the overall colour, but thats just my opinion. There is also some question over the colour of the Totenkopf insignia, or rather the backing colour, some people insist it is red, whilst others (myself included) believe it would in fact be black , as the Totenkopf badge is that of the Brunswick Hussars, and the badge was worn on a black cap, anyhow, to stop the red affectionados, I have also included that as well ( I'm good to you lot aren't I ? )

      there are 2 Data.Ini files as well, the original which came as Stephen 1918 made it, and the updated one from Von S, with the FM by Ocjar, and the hit boxes modded by my good friend Nick Bell, so choos which one you like, the Von S one is the better of the two in my opinion.

      I have also included the sound files I use, and the guns, which again are by Von S, ( I have put the early Spandau lmg 08 on as this would be correct ) I have used the Merc 120 sound file although this aircraft actually had a 160 , I just think it fits in better for the time period.

      Finally (sorry been blabbing on here ) I have used a pilot made by the marvellous Mr Geezer ( plead make more pilots !! ) I have just faffed about with it a bit but he looks the part !!

      Right, I think that covers everything, no doubt I have missed out some important bit of info.....but hey ho, such is life !!

      Thanks to Sephen 1918 for making the aircraft in the first place, and thanks to the other fore mentioned good souls, who make life easy for me, as they doo all the really hard work.

      ENJOY !!!

    5. Albatros DII early skin

      My first experimental skin for beautiful Albatros DII early by stephen1918 (also can use for others Albatros DI/DIIs).
      I tried to add some new "photorealistic" textures from me and othes places.
      Don't forget to add to Albatros DII "ini" files:
      [TextureSetXXX]
      Directory=Camo_3_Real
      Name=Camo_3_Real
      Nation=Germany

    6. Albatros DIII (OAW) Factory fresh skins

      5 skins representing factory finished OAW built Albatros DIII's . OAW built air-frames were finished slightly differently to standard built DIII's no rust brown paint was used , as per a directive from the air ministry in April 1917, so the 2 tone camoflage was applied, also different to the standard Albatri the camouflage was symmetrical, and also hard edged, rather than diffused.

      I have tried to represent 2 camouflage in Green/Mauve and Green/Green , the second scheme is speculative, as it seems the Green/Mauve was more prevalent, also on the Green/Green I have made the tail cam lead -trail and not tip - tip as was more common on OAW machines, I have seen pictures of OAW machines with fore aft tail plane schemes, but that may have been a field mod done on the Jastas, but anyhow done them any how. So the Green/Green, and the Green/Mauve are mirror images of each other ( you will see what I mean when you load them up )

      Finally I have redone the Lozenge, as I am fed up with seeing the manky dirty lozenge scheme that comes as standard with the in game Albatri, I have utilised a lighter day scheme, re done the rib tapes, etc etc etc.......anyhow, hope these aircraft fit the bill, nice clean, fresh out of the box, so not weathered at all, so if you prefer the dirty used look, please go ahead and dirty 'em up, they are a blank canvas after all.

      Oh yeah, just repainted the upper fuselage metal bits, in the standard grey green, also the struts.

      Enjoy !!!

    8. Albatros DV Jasta 23b 6-Pack

      This is a 6-pack of Jasta 23b Albatros D.V's.
      Used from mid 1917 to 1918.

      1. Otto Kissenberth (black fuselage)
      2. Ltn. Heinrich Seywald ("S" ensignia on fuselage side)
      3. Ltn. Theodor Rumpel (green fuselage)
      4. Ltn. Theodor Rumpel (orange-red fuselage)
      5. Ltn. Friedrich Ritter von Roth (black and white circle on fuselage sides)
      6. Jasta23b Black (generic Jasta 23b D.V with black tail and white banding). Can be used along with the stock Jasta 23b D.V with only the white band.

      I left the stock Lozenge Camo on the wings. Seems a bit dark but I would be guessing at a right shade.

    10. Albatros DVa Jasta 26 Bruno Loerzer

      This is my second skin for release. I am especially fond of the Bruno Loerzer
      color scheme. It was one of my best 1/48 models which I completed about 50 years ago. That version eventually found its way into a museum in Connecticut.
      When last seen it was in a display case next to a genuine Blue Max.

      Bruno Loerzer, commanded Jasta 26 and then JG3. He got 44kills and survived both WWI and WWII. Loerzer died in 1960.

      Simply drop the folder into your AlbatrosD5a folder next to the other skins and
      you should be good to go. No need to edit the ini file, but you will need to select
      the skin in the loading screen.

      Thanks to TK for the base template for Jasta 26; that made this job a lot easier.

      If you have any comments or suggestions, I’d like to have them. Please post on the Combat Aces First Eagles board or PM me there.

      Have fun with it.

    13. Albatros Package (DVa speed fix plus DI,DII, DIII flight models) including skins

      Ok this is a package that makes DI, DII and DIII versions based on the DVa 3d model, for FE patch 1. This is just a place holder until real DI-III models come out.

      Including in this package is:
      *4 great skins by JFM.
      *3 new flight models.
      *1 (DVa) flight model fixed, post patch the DVa was way to slow.

      Requirements:
      *Too be able to fly the Albatroses you need the cockpit. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3701

      Install guide:

      1. Make a backup copy of <install folder>ObjectsAircraftAlbatrosD5a
      2. unrar Albatros.rar into <install folder>ObjectsAircraft make sure to preserve folder structure
      * three new directories get created, AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3
      3. download and install the Albatros cockpit http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3701
      4. Also make sure to install the albatros cockpit into AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3 (you just need to copy the cockpit folder as there are separate _cockpit.ini files for each plane and they are included in the package.
      5. Add skins to AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3. In the <install folder>ObjectsAircraftAlbatrosD5a you will see that there are a few subfolders. All subfolders except the "cockpit" one are skins. Copy one or more of them into the AlbatrosD1, AlbatrosD2, AlbatrosD3 directories.

      Thanks to JFM for skins and stats research.

    14. Albatros W.4 (Early)

      The Albatros W.4 was a float plane version of the D.II. It used the same fuselage, engine, and armament as the D.II, but had a wider wingspan and tail. The W.4 was used for recon and spotting missions in the North Sea, the Baltic, and by Austria-Hungary in the Adriatic Sea.

      I have made an early version of the W.4 with the radiators mounted on the sides of the fuselage. I have included a complete set of number decals, and three skins - a basic wood and linen skin for Germany, one for Austria-Hungary, and an early hex camo skin. I have also included my skinning templates. The skins for the early Albatros W.4 are interchangeable with the late version skins.

      My version includes a loadout for a light bomb load, even though the W.4 was not used for bombing. You can delete the loadout file if you want more historical accuracy.

      Since it's a float plane, the W.4 works best in the Flanders, Gibraltar or other terrain that has a lot of water. The plane will actually take off and land from a conventional airfield, but it looks strange to see the floats going under the ground. It would be best to start the missions in the air. The plane will show up occasionally parked on an airfield, but its availability is listed as "Rare" so it shouldn't happen too often.

      Credits
      Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Albatros W.4.
      Thanks to Nix for providing the sound for the Mercedes engine.
      And thanks to Quack74 for giving me the idea for a float plane.

      Installation Instructions
      For FE1 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AlbatrosW4" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

      For FE2 - Unzip the file and move the folder named "AlbatrosW4" into the FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create new folder named "AlbatrosW4". Move the folder named "D" from the Aircraft/AlbatrosW4 folder into the Decals/AlbatrosW4 folder you just made. You also need to move the sound file "mercedes160m2.wav" into the FirstEagles/Sounds folder.

    18. AlbatrosDIII flight Model

      Kept getting shot down in the circus, so I made a more stable Rig. Hope it works for you. Made for Bortdafarm's Fantastic-Looking Albatros DIII (available here). Just tweaked it to version2....was too much yaw oscillation and roll inertia. Rolls better now, but not as good as a fokkerD7; hopefully realistic.

    19. Albatross DII Cockpit and Screens

      These files will modify the original Albatros DII by BortdaFarm by installing the stock Albatros D3 cockpit from the Third Wire Expansion Pack. This mod tested AOK with and without the April 08 patch. The files will not work unless you have installed both the Expansion pack and the BortdaFarm Albatros DII.

      BortdaFarm invested a lot of time and effort into the creation of the Albatros DII, and I'm glad he did. There is only so much one person can do and the EP cockpit by TK and his team is more detailed and functional. Thanks to both BortdaFarm and Third Wire for making these models for us.

      The files in this package include alternative loading and hangar screens. Back up your original files (in case you later decide you prefer the originals) and place all of the enclosed files in the AlbatrosDII folder.

      In addition to the cockpit and the screens, there are two gunsight types included. The default is the classic Fokker crosshair. The alternative is a slightly larger Spad13 type with a small circle in the center of the crosshair. If you prefer the latter, simply open the file marked ALBATROSD3_COCKPIT.INI and change the following lines from this:

      //GunsightMilSize=40
      GunsightMilSize=30
      GunsightName=Fokker_ironsight.tga
      //GunsightName=Spad13_ironsight.tga

      to this

      GunsightMilSize=40

      You may notice that the windscreen appears to be slightly forward of the gun breeches. Don't worry, it will still keep the wind off your face! There was no way I could find to avoid this and still place the new cockpit in the model in a way that functions properly. If anyone can resolve this dilemma, please do so. BTW notice the hole in the glass in the BTF model. These holes were in the original aircraft windscreens to allow sighting the weapons despite the smears of oil and dirt that often impaired the view.

      I also want to acknowledge the dedication and continuing hard work by Peter01 on his outstanding flight models for the Albatros DII and so many other aircraft for First Eagles. These FMs are a tremendous enhancement of the sim.
