citizen67 Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Hi everybody, I'm experimenting with head tracking using my iPhone connected via IP to OpenTrack, and since I need to find a unique setting for each plan, I'd like to understand one thing: I noticed that the cockpit, when in the default view [F1], is not always at the same distance. For example, in F-4 or F-14 it's much closer than in F-16 or F/A-18. Is there a way, somewhere in the.ini files, to define the distance of the point of view from the cockpit? Thanks in advance
Wrench Posted August 11 Posted August 11 it's set in the bird's cockpit ini, afaik. What the numbers ARE actually distance-wise (as in how many meters/cm back from the dashboard) I'm not sure [CockpitSeat001] ModelName=F-15A_pit.LOD Offset=0.0,0.0,0.0Â <------------- i think!! this one Position=0.0,6.43,1.06 <---- position relative to aircraft world center ViewAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 MaxYaw=170 MinYaw=-170 MaxPitch=90 MinPitchFront=-45 MinPitchRear=-30 If I'm wrong, hopefuly someone will correct me. 1 1
citizen67 Posted August 11 Author Posted August 11 Wow, looks complicated... I was hoping for something like 40cm, 50cm... I'll try to increase the values in the "Offset" line. Let's see what happens... Thanks 1
Wrench Posted August 11 Posted August 11 the offset "placement" like all the 3 section locators in this game system It's left/right, front/back, up/down. Forgot to mention that! Sorry!! !!! and it IS all metric, which make it a bit easier for people like me that went to Los Angeles City Schools (shitty at math) 1

(not changing my story for the gas station folks tho ) 4
Wrench Posted Saturday at 05:50 PM Posted Saturday at 05:50 PM 'way back when i worked on gas stations (when dinosaurs hadn't yet fully turned to oil), I was taught a really easy way to make change. Never failed me yet!! (even with LAUSD screwing around!)

Nightshade/PR Posted Sunday at 12:55 PM Posted Sunday at 12:55 PM And here I was, thinking that I was hot sh*t because once upon a time, I knew how to use this arcane POS. 4

For my past college I did online only, and should I get a Bachelors I'll do the same. I'm just old, and it's starting to show. 1
daddyairplanes Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM Posted Sunday at 04:31 PM it sort of reminds me my last few years in the Army. except when privates made me feel old i could just glare and say "At ease you". i know im older than everyone around me (so far there has been literaly 1, one person older than me students or faculty). but im gettin paid (post 9/11 GI Bill) and learnin new shit.Â
Flanker562 Posted Sunday at 04:36 PM Posted Sunday at 04:36 PM I'm at the point right now that I lean towards jobs such as forum moderator (as a paid role, not volunteer like here, and wouldn't consider leaving CA unless it became necessary) or texture artist rather than something I need a degree for. Right now I just don't see the utility of advancing into a higher bracket of learning. I don't miss Algebra, and wish it wasn't part of the curriculum, otherwise I would be more motivated to do it. I just don't care, I mean I can get a D in it, but that might affect my disability benefits, so my Dad tried before he died to get me into it, but you can't lead a horse to water and to expect him to always drink, which is my mental attitude about it. I'm just not thirsty. Maybe in the future, but I don't see it worth it right now, not in this job market.Â
daddyairplanes Posted Sunday at 05:07 PM Posted Sunday at 05:07 PM not gonna lie, its literally about that stipend check, and using a bennie Uncle Sam owes me anyhow before its expired (post 911 expires 15 years after you last leave active duty) as im going through it, massive studio layoffs, tendencies to either have the 3d modeler make the texures or have AI do it , and me being in spittin distance of my 50th bday when i graduate have it stacked against me for this being useful in industry job status. but it has given me new ideas on other things to do. plus the 2200 a month stipend sees me through any hardships about the classes 1
Flanker562 Posted Sunday at 05:16 PM Posted Sunday at 05:16 PM Nah, there's some good texture artists out there, and I have a possible lead on a job, just worked my ass off earlier this week getting things ready for the possible job, but yeah... As for bennies my understanding was ten years, oh well, I got a couple years then, may change my mind then, who knows. 1
