Morane-Saulnier N “Bullet” (biggish images)

Recommended Posts

Finally its sorta kinda of finished

Thanks to all those who have helped with advice

And Thanks especially to TK for such a wonderful game and

open design

moraneN_Loading.jpg

Caveats

Its a polygon / texture heavy model, my rather ancient PC

copes ok, but I'd suggest disabling the shadow (the shadow model screws up the

damage textures as well)

The Cockpit is especially over modelled but you learn from

your mistakes

There's a lot of outer skin colour used in the cockpit

(which does not swap with the skin, see the above about mistakes and learning)

I've included a black version of the cockpit as well, just copy over the

required files if you love flying the black aircraft and copy back the red when

you want to chance back (optional)

Cockpit is almost certainly over equipped with instruments

for the era (I was having fun)

The RFC Skin should go with an aircraft with a Lewis gun

rather than the Hotchkiss

(I'm slowly getting around to making the Lewis gun) so this

is just a stand-in

FM is not very accurate; I went down the whole Loftin / Eberhardt

route of estimating performance based on published figures, and

got a FM that probably was reasonably representational, However (big however)

That FM was slaughtered by existing FM’s and the AI really couldn't do much with it at

all. (All was not lost though; I did learn a whole lot about aerodynamics quickly)

With the current flight model the aircraft is much easier to

fly and the AI can "cope"with it (The AI still seems to hit less than other

with other aircraft)

In all probability I"ve made the FM to good trying to help

the AI

Note: I've only used the FM on hard flight settings

Constructive criticism appreciated

[hotchkiss]

Priority=NORMAL

Looped=TRUE

NumBuffers=4

3DSound=TRUE

DopplerEffect=FALSE

MaxDist=1000.000000

MinDist=50.000000

Copy all files under the Weapons folder to the ThirdwireWWIObjectsWeapons

folder.

IMPORTANT NOTE, I've included my weapondata.ini and my

weapondata.dat for ease, It should contain all the available munitions to date

+ the streamer for the Morane, If you

have added your own things to your weapons folder do not copy my weapondata files to your weapons folder,

rather add the streamer_red.LOD info to your files in the established way.

Thanks for your patience

WOW! What an excellent package! Model, screens, sounds. The cockpit is amazing...love the fuel in glass animation.

About those new sounds...to get them to work you also have to add the SoundFile***= entries to the [soundList] section in the Soundlist.ini in numerical sequence like so:

[soundList]

SoundFile001=Cannon

SoundFile002=TankGun

SoundFile003=Missile

SoundFile004=JetEngine

SoundFile005=JetBurner

SoundFile006=TankEngine

SoundFile007=TankTrack

SoundFile008=DirtHit

SoundFile009=SmallExplosion

SoundFile010=ObjectHit

SoundFile011=Rocket

SoundFile012=IRgrowl

SoundFile013=IRgrowlLock

SoundFile014=Vulcan

SoundFile015=50cal

SoundFile016=PropLoop

SoundFile017=TruckLoop

SoundFile018=Napalm

SoundFile019=Gear

SoundFile020=Airbrakes

SoundFile021=Flaps

SoundFile022=WindLoop

SoundFile023=Breathing

SoundFile024=AAA

SoundFile025=BigExplosion

SoundFile026=TireTouch

SoundFile027=StallSound

SoundFile028=AmbientSound

SoundFile029=30cal

SoundFile030=Vickers

SoundFile031=Spandau

SoundFile032=Parabellum

SoundFile033=Lewis

SoundFile034=gun_jam

SoundFile035=gun_reload

SoundFile036=gun_out

SoundFile037=gun_unjam

SoundFile038=gun_unjam_fail

SoundFile039=RotaryEngine

SoundFile040=Hotchkiss

SoundFile041=lerhone

I don't think that was mentioned in your installation instructions.

Anyway, congratulations P10ppy! What an outstanding addition to FE! :clapping:

Wow, Now I know Y it took a while 2 finish!!!! :yes::) i lov the turn buckles

i dont weather my skins, but i always weathered my 1/48 models

i always think they didnt stay in the air long enough (new types or shot down) to be very weathered , but i really like how these are

And the hanger screen is a bit special 2

really nice job

& really nice to have this crate in the inventory

Cheers M8

real nice effort

Could anybody point me in the general direction of the soundfile.ini and sound list. :blink:

You can find a copy of the soundfile.ini in the Airco DH2 package. (here)

Thanks mate but the link didn't work, was it pointing to aladar's DH2 in the 'Downloads' section?

As for the model itself it's fantastic, cant wait to get shot down in this crate. The work of all the individuals who devote their time to the improvement of this sim is very much appreciated.

Five seconds into mission one the right wing is blown off by a bit of Archie :rolleyes: , got the sound to work though - and the DH2, thanks Alligator Devil

In lieu of finding a SOUNDLIST.INI in another mod, the SOUNDLIST.INI can be found in the FlightData.CAT file in the Flight folder of the game. You have to use the SFP1E file extractor to get it from the .CAT file.

Thank you everybody

I'm glad you are enjoying it

Thanks Tailspin for the soundlist.ini stuff

(I knew I'd forget something, should have included my file) :blush:

The little targeting arrows has got me stumped (I fly mostly padlocked so I never missed them)

I've just been testing and I can't find anything in particular that's aircraft specific that should affect the arrows…. (But something clearly is)

Anyone else know?

@ gambit168

I really like yours and v. Deutschmark skins a lot

And I know what you mean about weathering, they really only lasted a few months

But its fun to do

And strangely enough almost every MoS-N profile depicts them as really battered probably something to-do with their landing characteristics

Or Morane had really bad Dope :wink:

What do people thing of the FM? Too easy?

At the beginning of the soundlist.ini file is a list of the sounds under the following title [soundList]. Put the following entries at the end of the list and continue the sequence of numbers.

SoundFileXXX=hotchkiss

SoundFileXXX=lerhone

The loss of the targeting arrows is really strange. I wonder if it has something to do with the waypoint finder feature as the white waypoint arrows seem to be missing too?

What a wonderful plane - no wonder longer it took so long!!!

Great stuff, as a whole package, maybe best yet, including TKs....

For those who've not edited files before in FE:

The soundlist.ini file is located in the Flight folder - FlightData.cat file. To edit the soundlist.ini file (LloydNB post above), you'll need to extract the file from the FlightData.cat file using the sfp1e.exe (available in the CombatAce downloads).
