FastCargo Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 ...it is possible to kill space based vehicles (defined as being above 100km high by the FAI). Just completed prototype testing with 3 kills in a row. Still tweaking the missile and specific flight profile that HAS to be flown. Also, need to build a better satellite. Stay tuned. Silverbolt Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 (edited) ASAT! hehe, don't use cheats! IIRC the F-15 Just Takes off with 2 Wing tanks and ASAT to kill satellites xD Edited March 16, 2008 by Silverbolt Quote
FastCargo Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 No cheating here...it's a stock F-15C with the weapon station added for the ASAT and the FM on hard. In fact, it may be a bit too easy, that's why I'm tweaking the missile and the satellite. FastCargo Quote
Silverbolt Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 i forgoted to mentioned, but Good job! im wondering how is kill a satellite xD Quote

EricJ Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 What kind of satallite? Man this makes me want to read Red Strorm Rising. True... was a great book, still is a classic.. Problem is the campaign idea... possible? Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 Red Storm is prolly my favorite Clancy, will have to re-read it, as it has been years. Bear and the Dragon was probably the 2nd fave, but I digress. How do you lock up a sattelite? That would make for an interesting read of the brief; The Soviets are a little too interested in out ops here, clear the space above of their space based observation platform... Quote
Stick Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 (edited) What kind of satallite? Man this makes me want to read Red Strorm Rising. That was a killer read. Remember when Mig and F-18 pilot have been shot down and scramble into a dinghie together when the american tells him there are sharks in the water. Akula ! Edited March 17, 2008 by Stick Quote
FastCargo Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 I was just minding my own business: and then this happened! And the score is... Weapon and satellite are complete. Just got to build a readme and it'll be uploaded. FastCargo Quote
+X RAY Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Do you have planned to do a WoE users version? Quote
FastCargo Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 Do you have planned to do a WoE users version? It's not possible until they are patched to WoI standard. The code that allows me to make a Satellite does not exist in the current versions of SFP1/WOV/WOE. FastCargo Quote
FastCargo Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 For those who end up downloading and trying this out, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on difficulty. I'm able to get fairly consistent results...but I'd like to see what others are getting to get a feel if this is too easy, too hard, etc. FastCargo Quote
EricJ Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Hrm.... for some reason the phrase "SpaceAMRAAM" comes to mind. Maybe put some kind of A2A missile on there, raining down missiles killing planes, that'd freak me out going for a satellite. Course that's going into the What If category.. but unless a mission is specifically designed to kill it (maybe the window is deep behind enemy lines?) it's just a way to rack up another kill. Quote
FastCargo Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 Actually, I tried setting up something similar using my SA-5s...but pointing downward... Didn't work. Balloons with missiles do not appear to engage...but they TRACK just fine. However, checking on the TW boards, it looks like you can arm balloons with GUNS. So, if you put some REALLY high power guns on the platforms, you could simulate a couple of things...including artillery and/or bombardment from space. Heh...arm the ASAT with a AAA gun with range....hehehehe... That might be kind of fun! FastCargo Quote
EricJ Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 And would be a damn good reason to blow the joker up! Quote

kct Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) Don't even speak of bombardment from space, I would be afraid of a huge assault airship floating high up above the sky alone (those that played the old Sega arcade game about flying Afterburner-style would know).
