1. Update Notes

---------------

This Update contains all the fixes from previous patches, and it can

be applied to any version of the game. Earlier patches do not need

to be applied.

If you have installed any mods to the game, you should back up any

changes you've made before applying this Update. Update will delete

any files that may conflict with newer files. You should re-apply

the change to the new, updated files installed by this Update.

List of changes in this Update include:

Aug 2008

--------

* Updated Nations list and additional insignia decals are included.

* Using the zoom controls on in-flight map will no longer zoom the

view after exiting the map.

* Air-to-ground gunsight is only depressed when unguided-bombs

are selected.

* Player sometimes not able to recieve "Mission Accomplished" on SEAD

missions even after all the primary targets are destroyed is fixed.

* AI pilots sometimes not taking off from their airbase is fixed.

* Campaign engine not generating player mission correctly when low in

supply is fixed.

* Decoy dispenser key no longer releases multiple decoys per keystroke.

* Cockpit ON/OFF toggle not removing the external model when using

Medium Shadow option is fixed.

* Flight model and AI have been further tweaked.

* And numerous other minor fixes and changes to enhance the overall

gameplay experience.

The following is a list of files that are explicitly deleted by the

Update installer. Additional files may be over-written by newer

files.

Great news! I never actually got WOI, but the TW website says the rest of the patches are soon to follow.

Curious to see what they do to modded installs, though...

AI FMs got tweaked. Now if you make Frescos flyable you won't have to fight enormous pitch up tendency when the flaps are down...

Many many years ago, EA produced Jane's Combat Simulation series and the F-15 modelled in the game could climb up to 100,000 and it was beautiful.

The sky colour is banded.

I wonder if I can put a U-2 in to AoI and see if it can do a climb up to 80,000 ft.  But then, WoI is not flexible enough to adpat to mods as much as WoV, WoE or SF does.

Yes it is.

I read in the forum here some time back that there was work being done on creating patches to upgrade SFG,WOV and WOE to the same standard as WOI. Does anyone have any news on its progress?

On "Hard" flight model. It's simply of question of flying the right profile.

I cannot pinpoint it, but the game is so incredibly good with this patch!

Is it just me or are there indeed also improvements in the atmosphere / sound environment? Anyway heater fights in the clouds with F-15/F-16 are just waaaawwww!

The release of this new WoI patch may be good news for older games.

Seem to remember reading that this may be the last upgrade for SF/SFG

Did anybody notice how everything goes quiet in cockpit when you go Mach 1+ :))))

I think there's a LOT of hidden imporvements in this patch.

All the Migs/Sus, etc now have the "UseMetricUnit=TRUE" in their data inis, ALL the data ini got 2 new AI sections (StrafeAI, RocketAttackAI). The Hunters NOW carry their UK bombs --ok, I gotta know how they Friendly weapons to load on ENEMY aircraft!!! :haha: --

Interestering to note, it didn't remove the cockpits from the 17,19,21s or Hunters. It just replace the main ini (as all patches do), so it was a simple matter to just re add the lines

down side: still no cockpit bits for the Hunter and SMBD/Sa'ar (again, not a real problem for Woe/SF/WoV owners)

UP side: control/I !!! Engine shut down!!!

Still exploring the various inis and such. Have to patch my Historic Mods install, and see how the prop planes act.

So far, a good improvement.

Do prop-driven aircraft (like the WWII birds) still have a problem with their FM?
