Olham 164 Posted May 5, 2012 Thanks, Adger. Shiloh, working my way through the videos slowly, I have now seen the scramble against Vipers. Nice skin! Your shooting got a lot better I find. With time, you will do it as relaxed as Hellshade. May I ask what ground and scenery detail settings you use? Your ground looks quite "juicy". Maybe I should try that too. Olham 164 Posted May 6, 2012 These are Feldwebel Mahlow's adventures of today. Altough presented like a comic, they are nevertheless true. Damn, that was another of those great OFF Moments, when I flew along the Canal, and sudenly heard a distant "Tac!Tac!Tac!Tac!Tac!" - those blighters had almost got me! Shiloh 12 Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Nice job with that comic strip of Mahlow's day Olham - very creative! I can see how you would get distracted by the beauty of the day. To answer your earlier question terrain and scenery are both at '3'. And very nice commentary video Hellshade! I liked the addition of the commentary so I can see your thought process throughout the fight. Here is a new skin I designed for my Jasta 4 Dr.1 pilot, Leutnant Dieter Mannheim. Andy73 3 Posted May 6, 2012 These are very, very nice Screenies Shiloh Just a little Question: Is it possible to download the Fokker Dr.1-Skin ? I like this one ! Keep on the good Work ! Andy
Shiloh 12 Posted May 6, 2012 These are very, very nice Screenies Shiloh Just a little Question: Is it possible to download the Fokker Dr.1-Skin ? I like this one ! Keep on the good Work ! Andy Thank you Andy! I would be happy to upload this skin but would first like to confirm with one of our German-speaking members - Olham perhaps? - that the text on the plane reads properly. I understand 'Sehr Mutig?' to translate to 'Feeling Brave?'. It was meant as a challenge for foes to attack if they so choose, but to think twice about it. Olham 164 Posted May 6, 2012 That is a very believeable ace skin, Shiloh, and the text is correct and means, what you thought. By the way, you shot down the Canadian ace C M "Black Mike" McEwen (27 victories). See here: http://www.theaerodrome.com/aces/canada/mcewen.php
Andy73 3 Posted May 6, 2012 Yes Shiloh, the translation is correct. I would appreciate it to download this Skin the next few days when I'm back home from Work.
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted May 6, 2012 I, too, would like to have that Dr1 skin. @ Olham. Now that I have my new computer, I turned up my Terrain slider to 4 and my Scenery to 3. However, turning up ground density to high really added a number of trees and greenery to the appearance of the ground. I was also able to reduce the number of trees from "popping" into view by reducing one of the texture sliders from 1.0 to .9. I'll have to check and report back the exact slider when I get home. Shiloh 12 Posted May 6, 2012 Thanks for the feedback guys! I will upload this either today or tomorrow.
Shiloh 12 Posted May 7, 2012 Here's some shots of my Jasta 13 pilot, Leutnant Gunther Blau taking on some SE5a's. This is a newly-designed skin that has been tweaked a few times to this final version.
Adger 87 Posted May 7, 2012 Great screenies once again Shiloh,Fantastic use of colour and a very nice looking skin
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted May 7, 2012 Yes, Shiloh, you have really found a way to dress up the ordinarily somewhat humdrum looking DVII. I can also see you have captured a fine example of a DVII "hanging from its prop," as well. Good show!
Olham 164 Posted May 7, 2012 Seems you're getting into the skinning, Shiloh - looks great!
Shiloh 12 Posted May 8, 2012 Thanks Adger, HPW and Olham! I do enjoy making skins - it connects me to my pilot in a way that nothing else can. I wish I could upload these. I've tried rar, zip and uncompressed dds files and each time I get an error message saying upload failed and please contact administrator. Mark from OBD got back to me but says I need to contact the CombatAce moderators for guidance.
Olham 164 Posted May 9, 2012 Fw Mahlow is still part of the action of the Battle of the Somme, and the fighting is fierce on both sides. He can hold his own in the Halberstadt, but there's rumour that they will receive a much better fighter very soon - the Albatros D.I will come to service. He must survive until then... Shiloh 12 Posted May 11, 2012 Nice screenies Olham and good to see Mahlow is still keeping up the fight. Here are some shots of my new RFC-48 Bristol F2b pilot - Sgt. Henry Dawes. I've seen 3 combat missions and her engine was damaged after facing some Alb.D.III's on one flight and on the next two she was forced down early due to overwhelming numbers. I had 7 Alb.D.III's chasing me to the deck on this last fight in the rain and was able to land safely at St. Eloi. I love the way she flies, sturdy and steady but you can feel the weight. The date is early April, 1917 so hopefully things get better as the war drags on. I wish my observer would fire more rounds and I've been tempted to jump in the back seat and take on the shooting duties myself.

Olham 164 Posted May 12, 2012 Shiloh, you may need to place the TrackIR camera further back. Since I attached mine on a stand 3 inches behind the monitor surface, I don't have those weird flips anymore. The Brisfit is a very reassuring craft to fight in. Strong, fast, sturdy and agile. Attacking them always bears strong risk of getting wounded or even killed.
Shiloh 12 Posted May 12, 2012 Sometimes the TrackIR works perfect for me and sometimes it doesn't - very temperamental. I really like the Brisfit. I can't really see out the back so hopefully my observer is alert. Have you flown it on campaign?
Olham 164 Posted May 12, 2012 Not in Campaign, no. But with OFF II I'll fly a British Campaign; or even several.
corsaire31 7 Posted May 26, 2012 The Brisfit is one of my favourite airplanes in RoF ( I am one of the 2 seaters specialists in my squadron), will have to give it a go in OFF... My first screenies : Jasta 2 late return to Lagnicourt airfield - Oct 30, 1916 Nieuports 17 of Esc 23 fly over Verdun to Vadelaincourt Oct 26, 1916 Let's hope I get better weather for next ones ! Olham 164 Posted May 26, 2012 Bad or good weather - your screenshots are both almost romantic, corsaire.
corsaire31 7 Posted May 26, 2012 Thks... it's a lot easier to make screenies in RoF because you can save the tracks of your missions and use the replay with slow motion to find the good camera angles... ( I also found this function very useful in the beginning to review my dogfights at 1/4 speed to understand ACMs and shooting ) I suppose you can always use Esc in OFF and crop your picture to take out the menu in the top right corner ? I see you can switch views while in Pause mod.
Olham 164 Posted May 26, 2012 Yes, for a good screenshot, I would pause the sim, go to "outside view", find the perfect angle, and take the shot.
