+SayethWhaaaa Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 having some fun on Turtledove's dime..... USAAS Mustangs, 94th FS CSAF Spitfire 9s, Virginia wing I've been making those for a a totally half arsed, and completely rushed Timeline-191 conversion for a while now. Although (aside from crappy skins and a lack of motivation to complete them) I could never decide on what I wanted to have each side flying. Two separate covers have B-17Gs flying for the USAAF and the CSAAF. I even made a version of the Confederate battle flag with the reds and blues swapped as described in the series. Yours look infinitely better than mine though, Wrench!
+Wrench Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 the way I've look at that series, Federals would have (Great War time frame) mostly German/Austria-Hungry aircraft -even if built domesticly, while the Confeds would have British/French planes for 'WW2', since all the aircraft manufactures are in the North (Feds), Curtis, Boeing, Douglas, NorthAmerican, Lockheed. Possibly even (early war) some domestic clones of Bf-109s; until the aircraft industry gets up to speed on production of domestic designs. (assuming the Federal War Dept didn't support "local manufactures". I'd also make the assumption that the Confeds would be using (again) British/French designs --more leaning towards UK. One might assume early Hurris, Gladiators, Spits; for bombers I'd 'allow' Blenhiems, manchester, maybe even stirling and lancs It's been so many years since I read the last ones...i do remember something about the douglas and NAA plants in LA being mentioned; one can safely assume Havoc and Mitchells as well it's kinda fun!
