sadly "No" is the answer in most cases, one has to have source max file of existing model, as specular map is defined as separate material in Max

 

I was referring to our current mod aircraft, not really TK's.

Unfortunately, specular maps in SF2 are called out in the .lod file, the same way textures and bump maps are. So unless one has the source file (or the .lod already has call-outs for them), they're out of luck.

 

So my next question I guess is where is the data for the height for the bump and the specular being pulled from? Separate BMPs? DDS?

 

Trying to figure out how to do this and my experimentation hasn't produced any results so far.

 

EDIT: Don't know why but I can't get the right materials to export. The .out never shows them. I have the latest exporter, or I should...

Yeah, I got it figured out. Somehow I was getting the old plugins despite what the download descriptions said. I grabbed the newest one from TK's site and its working fine now.

I think that counts as "terrain". :grin:

 

Anyway, I've not seen any naval vessels and as mentioned we've barely seen any water at all, they're mostly shot co-alt or from below the planes. So while I'd like to think we'll see it before the end of the year, the dearth of shots of stuff that will have to be done first makes me believe we won't.

wouldn't it be time to show something like errr cockpit... you know the plane from inside... or are we supposed to play this in external views? Could be interesting

tell JASF to move over, roflmao.

 

Gawd.....I wouldn't compare JASF with even the lightest of the "lite" sims.

 

JASF does have it place, though..... in an upright cabinet where one would feed it one quarter at a time. :grin:

Well, it wouldn't surprise me at all actually for this to just pop up with no real warning, including no shots of the terrain or naval vessels beforehand.

 

So, I don't EXPECT it this month, but I wouldn't be shocked to see it.
