They didn't eject. They say they lost the chopper last evening. Last evening we had a bloody blizzard with heavy fog over here, I wonder if the spell reached them. More so on the side where the blades are running into the air flow. So on Ka two rotors going in opposite directions do come closer in flight on one side. Single rotor isn't without trouble either - careless handling of Hind can chop its tail off, and stuff like retreating blade stall and vortex ring is generally dangerous.
