Tried skinning the 80's VF-1 Tomcat paintjob to make it a 90's VF-1 paint. Need to fix the black triangle on the back and change the lettering on the bottom where it says VF-1 to white and change the color from silver to red.

(I'm not Greek but I studied a lot of ancient Greek at high school).

And I thought ancient greek being taught outside of greece was a lie...or are you talking about translated texts?

Not a lie! Latin was my minor in college, however, several of the students in my upper level Latin classes also did Ancient Greek since they were Classics majors (Syracuse University had Classical Language as a major and minor program. Prose is one thing, but poetry...egh! Hated it!).

5 years grammar, translations, litterature .... alongside Latin, Math etc. .... a very hard job, in italian "Liceo Classico".

The oldest, traditional high school here.

Next year my son will start it, too. :grandpa:

This post gave me a whole lotta questions (only 2 actually, but anyways):

1.Did you mean to write "angels 80", or is that just a code I am not familiar with?

2.Can you really land with that kind of loading (6x PH, -9s, and tanks)?I hear a lot of people say that this was impossibru IRL.

Oh, and thanks for shedding some light on the ancient greek thing. Both of you.

Okay the Tomcat could carry the 6 AIM-54's 2 Winders and Tanks but not of the boat and then bring them back from Land yes weight limits on the boat were a Max of 4 AIM-54's 2 Sparrow 2 Winders 2 Tanks (Normally empty by this point)...

The Tomcat can launch with 6 AIM-54, 2 AIM-9, tanks and everything, but bringing it back aboard is a whole 'nother story. An A will launch at about 71,300, a B or D just below 73,000 pounds so configured. The max trap weight of the F-14 is 54,000 pounds, which is difficult to achieve with all 6 Phoenix on board and enough gas for three go-arounds. That's why you'd only see the Turkey with 6 AIM-54 for photo shoots, and it would only launch operationally with 6 AIM-54 if it was planning on shooting them a la Red Storm Rising. It could land at an airbase with 6 AIM-54 - max field landing with min descent rate was 60,000 pounds. So, yes, that is a valid loadout, and one that could be launched from a carrier, but you'd have to fire some of those missiles, or jettison them, or come back on vapors.

And the thing is you can bring back all of that ordnance too! (I was going to say something about outranging a Phoenix but...)
