+JSF_Aggie Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 (edited) I'm working on three Top Gun campaigns for my Southwest US terrain. It's all close to completion, I just haven't been able to touch it since Christmas, due to some personal crap. I'm back at it, and hope to have them done in a few weeks. Skyviper Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Is there a word nicer than nice to describe how nice that is looking? Quote
+Dave Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I cant fucking wait man. Hey Brian, use that Top Gun music for your menu screens that Homefries did. It wold be perfect for it. http://combatace.com/files/file/12841-top-gun-music-theme-for-sf2-series/ Quote
Antares81 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Finalmente qualcuno pensa a delle cose serie ... BRAVO !!!! :) Quote
macelena Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Cool lineup, it would be cool to have a later campaign including F-4S and maybe even Kfirs. BTW,Not trying to be an smartass, but that campaign loading screen features an F-4S for 1970. Quote
Centurion-1 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Awesome! I had the exact same idea to do this actually when I made the aggressor F-5E skins, this is gonna be way better though! What will the Redfor/Aggressors be flying? If there is any particular camo scheme for the F-5E you would like me to make I would be more than glad to help you! Quote
+Swordsman422 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Nice! I'll fly it. And I'll skin 'cats for you if you like. Quote
+JSF_Aggie Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 BTW,Not trying to be an smartass, but that campaign loading screen features an F-4S for 1970. I know the S doesn't fit the timeframe, but finding decent quality images of the hangar has been surprisingly hard. Quote
Antares81 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 When will coming ? .... You have a GREAT idea .... can you make a skins pack for TW F-14A(77) Tomcat ? Quote
+JSF_Aggie Posted April 14, 2014 Author Posted April 14, 2014 Thanks cangas. I still lack a good one with a '78-ish Tomcat, if anyone has one. Centurion, I just have the aggressors flying a couple of flavors of A-4's. I don't think they used the F-5's until after '78. Swordsman, I'll send you a PM. Quote
Peugeot205 Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 This one from 1980... This one from 1979 1 Quote

I´m sure i just saw some recently, before Linebacker, will search and bring you some BTW, Crusaders should be in too? i don´t know how much did they participate, with the program starting to roll and the saders service life nearing its premature end... +Dave Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Brian if we get some Cat's skinned up we could drag this out to say 1986 with the F-21's and the F-5's. Or I could just make a modified campaign when you release it. I was thinking like you said 78-79 and 1985-1986. Thoughts? 1 Quote
Centurion-1 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 If you do plan to make any post-78 Top Gun campaigns and need any specific kind of aggressor F-5Es, just say the word. Quote
+Stratos Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Will the planes HIT explode? or is possible to simulate a kill somehow? Quote
stingray77 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 Keeping close to reality, I woul PREFER to have no kill but some verbal (or written) announcement of a kill instead - but I can imagine that this might be complicated to replicate... But getting Top Gun will be cool even with "hot" kills! Quote

I'm all for an '86 campaign as well. We can look at package size, 3rd-party & DLC requirements, etc. Maybe it'll make more sense to upload the four campaigns seperately. Stratos and Stingray, There will be hot kills. It's an air combat simulator, not a simulated air combat simulator. How would you: tally kills, tell the AI he's dead, measure campaign win/loss conditions? Feel free to tackle those items after this is released. Quote
Caesar Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 JSF, I did a skin pack called "The Gulls" which covers F-14's from between 1974 and ~1978. While the bureau numbers are from each squadron's first cruise, some of the skins would still be valid from an appearance standpoint into 1978. These were the squadrons: VF-1 Wolf Pack 1974-1978 VF-2 Bounty Hunters 1974-1978 VF-14 Tophatters 1974-1978 VF-32 Swordsmen 1974-1978 VF-41 Black Aces 1976-1978 VF-84 Jolly Rogers 1976-1980 VF-114 Aardvarks 1976-1979 VF-213 Black Lions 1976-1979 I've also completed VF-24, but the G**DAMNED NOSE STRIPES on VF-211 are still giving me problems. If you want to use any of those, feel free. Quote
Centurion-1 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Don't mean to derail this thread, but do you guys remember Topgun: Fire at Will from '96 by Spectrum Holobyte? I loved that game, my first air combat game for my first own PC that my dad bought for me in a fit of generosity. I really liked that and I have been toying with the idea to create a campaign series for SF2 that would follow the events of the campaigns there roughly, starting out with Topgun. Looks like I won't have to do the first bit really (IMHO, this game did a very good job of injecting story and characters into the otherwise very sterile air combat/sim genre. I'm a PC man so can't comment on the various Ace Combats tho, but they are quite arcade) 1 Quote
+JSF_Aggie Posted April 19, 2014 Author Posted April 19, 2014 The last of the F-4 skins, these are the two F-4J's from the '70 campaign. 3 Quote
MrGoTime Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 I'm no help with this sort of stuff, but wanted to pop in and say how AWESOME this looks. This is what makes SF2 a permanent placeholder on my computer. Thanks for doing what you do! Looking good! 1 Quote
+Stratos Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Now that I see those Phantoms. Were the USN and USMC F4's ever cleared to carry a gun pod in central station? I think the pods were not used in combat, but those Phantoms gunpod capable? If yes, which versions? Quote
