I mean RP-3 60 lb rockets with napalm warhead like Meteors used during Korean War?

post-14500-0-42199300-1421590371.jpg

If not, maybe someone could make a 3d model.  Should be very fun to shoot them ahead of aircraft...

Nice to see you're interested in Volker. I know you are a perfectionist, but i didn't find too much information. The rocket was popularly called "Flaming onion". Above photo is the best & closest one...

Few photos:

I also found two articles in the old press explaining some things. First one is saying that the rocket has a 5 galon tank of napalm in as it's war head

post-14500-0-14888700-1421690438_thumb.jpg

And second: that the rocket is similar to the ordinary type except the warhead

post-14500-0-14132600-1421690658.jpg

So i think it means the rocket is classic RP-3 60lb with it's engine.

Measurements of RP-3 rockets with SAP projectile:

Weight of the complete rocket: 44,2 kg

Weight of motor: 16,3 kg

Weight of projectile: 27,9 kg

Diameter of motor: 83 mm

Diameter of 60Lb. S.A.P projectile: 152 mm -> (napalm warhead is a little bit thicker)

Length of the complete rocket: 1876 mm   ---> (napalm warhead is a bit longer)

Length of the rocket without warhead: 1400 mm

Wing span: 340 mm

Burning time of motor : 1,5 seconds at 15,6 degr. celcius

Fuzes used: No.878 or No.865

Vo: 480 mtrs/sec

Range: appr 1600 mtrs (1 mile)

any of these stock birds should do for testing:

Hunter 6, Hunter 9, Vampire, even the Mustang for testing (it calls for them in the stock loadout inis)

DLC 29s Spit 14, 18, 22 all carry them

add-ons:

Seahawk, Venom

Superb! High quality as always. :good:

Maybe warhead could be a little bit thicker.

Fast Cargo and I are finishing new RAAF Meteor F.8 for KAW, i'll ask him and maybe share with you for testing.

I think the shape of back side of the napalm warhead is a bit different. I found this by Red Roo Models, maybe it helps:

Just thought I'd mention this in case you have a rail fit problem. When I did the 60lb rockets for the Hurricane's I had to set the weapon diameter to the rocket motor (3in.) in the weapons editor. Nice rockets. I'll have to do a napalm for my 'What if' Mk.5b.

OMG! New family of the RP-3 rockets! :salute:

The shape of the napalm warhead (and others) is almost perfect now in my opinion. Colour is good as is, even the stipes (maybe they are light grey). I better like this one than all over grey.

Thank you very much Volker.

life can be so frustrating , i thought to fit the new rockets would be easy but guess what

the original TW rockets are way to short and as result of this the hardpoints are on the wrong place , now i have to figure out how to fix this

- the hardpoints are fixed Part of the TW model

- the position of the lower mounted rockets has to be moved forward and down

- original

- TW

How about removing  fixed hardpoints from plane and add them as fake rocket pod  that can carry RP rockets ?

edit:

This will cause of course adding them as group in RP, not as single RCKT but should be ok for external model view.

i think i have it now , i removed the TW adapter for the lower rockets and added a SpecificStationCode = TM for the lower rocket possitions

- there are now 2 types of rockets the one mounted to the pylons with the the mounting adapter and the one for the twin mount , the twin mount versions do not have the mounting adapter

- you can now fly with 8 or 16 rockets or even with a mix load if you like to

- if you use the napalm version dont use any twin mount options , because of the larger warhead all twin mount rockets will collide with the napalm warhead

this is still a BETA , i will add some more details to the rockets and make the training version with concrete warhead

RP-3.rar

this are the modified Data.ini and Loadout.ini , with out this ini`s the rockets will not work , please replace the existing one with this new ones

Meteor8 ini.rar

this is how it looks like now

if you find any error or if you have any suggestions please let me know , as i mention above this is still BETA version and your hint´s , suggestions or wishes  can still be added

- i did not find any info on how many fragments the FRAG warhead has , i set it to 50 clusters and a fuzing distance of 15 meters

- i also set the napalm rocket with a fuzing distance of 15 meters let me know if this is ok for you

have fun , Volker

The French Navy seem to use only the RP-3 25Lb AP model for Anti Ship purpose aboard their Br.1050 & 1050M Alizés from 1961 to 1991 (6 Rockets on outboard wings pylons, single mount)

My wish now : can we have the a RP-3 25Lb AP rocket model without the mounting adapters, main body paint in white and the Warhead in red colors?.

Thank you in advance

no problem , do you have a picture of this rocket , the color seems a bit strange

Raven did a bunch of RP-3 25 #ers for his Hurricanes. IIRC, they do have the rail "built in" (or on?). His RP-3 25 Mk.II-3 is an AP unit

might want to have a look at them maybe?

I can post the weapons folders, if anyone wants to check them out. I know one is just the rocket itself

Eole this is not a RP-3 this is a larger 127mm FFAR (5 inch rocket ) , tis rocket is listet as weapon for the Alize

check for "Type T 14 de MATRA" maybe this is a derivative from it

i can make them but i would need some more info , are this US rockets or are they french made ??? how long are they ???
