Hi Yakarov79

Yes that what I have read similar to that but

http://www.joebaugher.com/usaf_fighters/f4_48.html mention

A few USAF F-4Ds were used by the RoKAF on short-term loan during the 1970s, but six were permanently supplied to the RoKAF in 1982 to make up for attrition, and a further 24 were delivered between December 1987 and April 1988. This last batch were equipped with Pave Spike laser designators. This final batch enabled the ROKAF to bring its two F-4D squadrons back to full strength and to equip a third. Ultimately,

And on

on F-16.net for the 157th Squadron they mention this

157th Fighter Squadron (RoKAF)

Unit History

  • 1974: Activation of the squadron in Daegu
  • 1974: F-4D 'Phantom II' (part of 11FW)
  • 1990: F-4E 'Phantom II' (part of 17FW, Cheongju AB)
  • 2000: F-16C/D 'Fighting Falcon' (part of 20FW, Seosan AB)

'Ello guys

Thought I'd share a campaign I have working with you as the chances of me finishing it on my own seem to be rather slim.

Background:

  • Set in 1985
  • Features flyable aircraft of the USAF, USN, USMC and ROK.
  • Intial enemy is DPRK, reinforced later by Soviets and China
  • Fairly realistic ORBAT for blue side
  • Two carrier groups, USS Constellation and USS Carl Vinson, with period accurate squadrons and escorts
  • A (not yet fully working) friendly Amphibious landing
  • A new comprehensive 60+ node ground war. Can be used for Korean war ops too I think

MODs I used,

So if anyone is interested give it a try and maybe we can make a complete pack out of this. It flies quite good, the campaign, the best I've done certainly. Installation is just to pop it into the campaigns folder. Take the included Korea3_targets and pop it into the Korea 3 folder, this add a USMC deployment point for the naval invasion.

I have a lot of period skins in the work, I suck at decaling and would gladly hand them over to a good decals guy. These include Wolfpack F-16A skins, USN A-7E and F/A-18A skins..

I did some editing, corrected some typos and add more "historical" flyabe aircrafts. Its still a "beta" like your files, but if you wanna try it...:

Wow, I did not know that.
Is everything okay with him?
Anyway, I worked on the campaign he created, if you fly it, tell me later if it was cool.

well i do have some Viper skins planned , probably get to them towards end of summer though (the A models that would have been in Korea and Japan at the time)

as for Centurion,  it seems he's doing alright. but again, he's not active himself online.

since he's alive and smiling, i'm just happy he seems ok and leave it be. but i have had to mention on a few threads discussing his work that he's not around on here anymore lately

I started tinkering around with this Campaign, @daddyairplanes did you ever do these Viper skins?

I’ve been working on A-10’s for the 25th TFS and 19th TASS for this time period.

The 25th TFS operated A-10’s from Suwon starting in 1982 till November 1989 as part of the 51st Composite Wing (Tactical). The 19th TASS took over the A-10 business in Korea starting in August 1989 at Suwon AB under the 5th Tactical Air Control Group. In October 1990, the 19th TASS and the 5th Tactical Control Group along with their A-10’s moved to Osan AB when reassigned to the 51st TFW. The 19th was deactivated on October 1, 1993 when the 25th was reactivated.

Sorry for the history lesson but I find this type of stuff interesting. Though this campaign would initially focus on the 1985-1986 time period, it could have more time periods.

Does anyone know a good source of information for USAF units in Korea in the 1980-90’s?

Has anyone done up F-4’s for the units in Korea during this time period such as the F-4E’s of the 36th TFS and 497th TFS and F-4D’s of the 8th TFW?

F-4 serials (version 1).xlsx

check the page "F-4E 88", it'll have the serials ive tracked so far

F-4Ds were almost  all in the ANG/Reserves by 85, and F-4Cs were solidly in the ANG by then, with many units sending theirs to the boneyard for Ds or Es. the only Active duty Ds were at Homestead's 31st TTW, which became a TFW again when it gained F-16s in 1986. The D would hold out until 1987 when the 307th TFS swapped for Vipers

all the EF-4Cs were in Indiana in 1985, split between the two squadrons in their ANG. the avionics for the Weasel mission got removed, but the antennae and strike camera housing were left alone. They did not do any SEAD after joining the Guard.....

During 1985-87, the F-4E was still assigned to the 36th TFS, 51st TFW at Osan AB. The 36th replaced their Phantoms for Falcons in August of 1988 so will need to make some early Falcons for them for later campaigns. The 497th operated F-4E’s from Taegu AB till 1988. The D’s of the 8th TFW had left in 1981 when replaced by F-16’s so going to have to make some early skins for them as well.

will shoot you the Viper excel and a folder of pics on sunday

fun fact on the 497ths Phantoms: at least one of them went on to be converted to F-4G specs, one of the late last batch converted in the late 80s

I did a few quick skins for the 35th and 80th TFS today, nothing fancy. Will do some tweaking on them tomorrow, need to move the tail bands up and adjust tail codes and numbers.

Yep, I will tweak the tail numbers tomorrow after I finish digging through F-16.net and the information you said you’d send. I also plan on tweaking the loadouts to that of Block 15’s at some point.

I have found pictures of (2) 79 birds with the 35th TFS, they were 79-397 and 79-398.

So far, I've identified (24) A's and (1) B for the 35th TFS and (16) A's and (1) B for the 80th TFS.

my bad, looking at the excel it seems they did operate block 10s (79- and 80- birds) for about a year and dont have those two in TAC :drinks:

it appears they operated the block 10s for about a year or so, then went to block 15s until 88. the block 10s then when to Shaw when the 363rd transitioned from a TRW to a TFW
