Some time ago I started to 'fake pilot' some C.-135B. Why ? Wish I had all planes from Vietnam War era in my Over Vietnam Install. There are still missing aircrafts. A lot is missing. So RC-135M and D were flying over Gulf of Tonkin. That is the begining of the story. And as always it is starting with something small...and later. Mess.

And later I had chance to put my hands on 'The History of Big Safari' by Bill Grimes. Great book. And "Freedom Through Vigilance'.

So here it is. Still beta version.

Not perfect, but since it is via fake pilot..it needs to be this way. Problem is that some birds (same model but different tail number) got different sensor setup. It is about year, block build, modification and God only knows what else. At the begining it is very confusing with numbers and modifications. but it is a great story about Recce 135.

So far it can fly. Could be great if it will be usefull in game. But we know that isn't true.

So another useless aircraft. Or aircrafts.

Great!  They may be useless aircraft, but like Wrench usually says, they add to the 'eye candy'.  Keep up the good work, the helos you've made really added a new atmosphere to Strike Fighters.

Amazing!! Why the black wing?

In 1961 Air Force started program Nancy Rae - in 1963 renamed Wanda Belle and in 67 Rivet Ball. And back then black wing was necessary as anti glare surface for it optical system.  In 1969 June 13 Rivet Ball crashed. And then  under Big Safari project Air Force ordered new planes 61-2663 - Cobra Ball I  and 61-2664 Cobra Ball II. It carried new type of sensors and equipment. Black wing was no longer needed but as tribiute to first Rivet Ball they painted wing black again.

Trivia.

In 1981 Cobra Ball II crashed with six crewman perished. This was big loss and shock for AF. And after that AF put order for new aircraft. Choice was 61-2662 but it was never named Cobra Ball II again but III. At the same time Cobra Ball changed all equipment for new one. And here Cobra Ball I and III carried little different type of sensors. In early nineties need for third S-Cobra Ball lead to conversion of aircraft 62-4128 for minimum Cobra Ball  plane. And this aircraft was finaly named Cobra Ball II. All that time all Cobra Ball planes carries black right wing until now.

edit.

I missed it in first post.

Or escort them. OOOOR send fighters to stop the opfor interceptors inbound.

Fighter jocks need something to do other than take photos and make silly movies set in San Diego 1986.....
